The unseen universes... ...and the beings who live between the promised worlds. Earth 1991... ...and people basically as we know them.
But there are differences on earth. A peak of development has been reached ten years before. Now there is nothing but retrogression. No causes can be found. No great war, no great destructive tragedy, no tyrants or restrictions of freedom... Something has to cause the breakdown of progress on earth.
Something is responsible for he loss of individual initiative, ideals - until the mind itself is useless.
Very entertaining. While reading the book, I was trying to piece together the confusing plot but I realized I was just as confused as the main character. You have no idea what is going on until the end. Then the ending is just funny but also wrong and sad. Anyways I enjoyed it and didn’t expect it to end the way it did.
Not an instant classic but amazing in its own way. This book is worth picking up, if only for the fact that it subverts expectations by playing into what could be considered cliche today. I didn't know what to expect when I found the book and I am thoroughly pleased to have read it.
This is a walk down memory lane to a time when SF was written for pre-teen boys. It has an interesting set up, but, well, it's not like a current story would be. I have no issue with letting it be what it is, but I don't think it's a classic.
