Tinseltown is about people who find themselves involved in the Hollywood Christmas Parade in some shape or form and where some find Christmas a hard time of year for different reasons, they discover that really things aren’t as bad as they could be and some even find romance.
This is a short story that keeps the momentum going looking at different characters perspectives of what Christmas means to them. All have issues in some shape or form and by welcoming the Christmas spirit each discover that their issues are not too bad, things could be worse.
This is the first story I have ready by the author and considering how short the story was, Victoria Fox managed to detail each character enough for the reader to be interested in them. It is a shame that the story was not longer because I did feel that there could have been a lot more story to tell.
Tinseltown is a short story following 3 characters as they take part in the annual Hollywood Christmas parade. Dom Judd is the latest big thing an admired by millions but has problems with ladies and drink. Laney has just won the latest TV talent show but is all wallflower due to hidden demons. Clare has just been dumped by her boyfriend and needs some cheering. The parade provides them all with a change in their life, be that romance, clarity or the removal of psychological burdens. Because this is a short story, the characters do not come together in the same way they might if this were a novel, but that isn't needed here. This is a really nice little short read with some interesting characters and an unusual setting. I've never read any Fox before but this bodes well for her other works.
I've just finished another of Victoria's books, 'Temptation Island' and was pleased to see that the same witty style and characterisation was present in this delightful short.
The name, with a double meaning, grabbed my attention, immediately alluding to glamour and celebrity that is so consistent with Victoria. The story follows three characters, Clare, Laney and Dom as they all take part in the celebrity Christmas parade. Even though it is short each characters story is quickly told for the reader and the interaction between each character is explored.
Dubiety over happy endings and mystery surrounding one of the characters will keep you hooked right through. A great short story full of bah humbug-turned-Christmas spirit and enough bonking to maintain the bonkbuster accolade that Victoria is usually given.

This book is about people who find themselves being involved in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. It is a short quick read which manages to keep up the pace throughout the novella. It is a lighthearted, seasonal fun book. It is a very bah-humberg book that ends up turning the characters into loving christmas. It is a well written novella by Victoria Fox, the 3 main characters are very interesting and well described, it is set in a very unusual setting but it is a very good and rather magical novella set at a magic time of year.
Happy it was just a short story. Don't know if I could have read a longer version only to find out that the reason one of the main characters hates Christmas is because she doesn't understand what two people having sex is like, even though she's an adult and has more than likely had sex herself by this point. No completion in this either - just a few paragraphs set a year later would have been nice, to finish off their stories. I'm all for some Christmassy goodness no matter the time of year, but honestly what a ridiculous storyline even for a short story!

I just wish it could have been longer is my only gripe about this story, for just as I was starting to get into the whole thing and wondering about the characters lives and what would happen to them next, it ended. After which, we get an extract from an upcoming novel by this author who is new to me and I for one will be interested to read it. I found the whole premises interesting and the way in which it was written has left me wanting more of the same.
This is a short story in which christmas cheer should spread all over the world. It is not a high standing piece of literature. It is OK but thats all that can be said about it. A very meagre storyline and you can see the "happy" ending a mile of and as it is a short story......the mile starts at about page 1. Should do well in women's magazines.
Good book, just a shame that it did not carry on a bit longer as i felt that the story line could had carried on a bit more. Great quick book to read whilst you are having a break from wrapping up christmas presents
Nice, quick little story. I thought this was a full length novel when I downloaded it, and I would happily have read a full book. I do feel it could have easily be carried on and developed. Characterisation was very good though.
A great short book...more of a taster than a full tale. Well written and the characters were well sketched in the short time available. I'd like to "meet" them in future.
This was a good read but seemed to end abruptly. Not really sure how I feel about it now. I feel underwhelmed I think as it was interesting and then just stopped. Okay for a quick read though.
Short novella that I picked up in October then realised it was a Xmas read so left until yesterday . Light hearted and put half an hour away with a coffee
