Summary: This interactive book about directions offers a fun way to learn the main directions--North, East, South, and West. This book also teaches about symbols and devices uses to show directions. This book starts with describing the 4 directions then goes into interactive pages about finding compass roses on globes and using your body to distinguish the directions. Then, we are told about compasses and their purpose. Now you now North, East, South, and West! Evaluation: The book was fairly simple and short. It definitely is not my favorite book; however, I did like it for the fact it was an easy book to introduce cardinal directions. The book is even interactive since it asks students to find a compass rose on a globe and stand and use their arms to help identify the directions. Teaching Idea: I would definitely use this book to introduce North, East, West, and South in social studies curriculum. I am a fan of interactive lessons, and this is a quick and simple mini-lesson to either introduce or review the cardinal directions.
