Summary: "Autumn" is a book written to inform students about the fall season, Autumn. This nonfiction text provides a glossary and book index allowing readers to practice searching for specific information. The text describes topics of fall like what sports are played, what foods grow, what animals do, and how plants change during this time of preparation for winter.
Evaluation: I think this text is very descriptive of topics related to autumn. This text also provides visual representations of the what is being discussed like the description of leaves changing colors is connected to an image of different colored leaves. The authors descriptions, images and use of index allows students to navigate and understand the various topics being discussed.
Teaching Idea: I would recommend using this text when teaching first grade about the different seasons. This text can provide excellent examples of how things change during different times of the year.

Fun book to read to my 6-month old while we waited at the doctor's office.

For an easy reader, this title was pretty thorough in relaying facts about the season. Uses photos to complement text. 1998 copyright results in some of the people in the photos looking a bit dated. Not worth scrapping the book due to the extent of info contained.

Summary:
This book is an informative book about autumn / fall. This book brings up all topics related to fall. These topics include the changing of the color of the leaves, sports that are played during fall, things that people and animals do during fall, as well as the weather.
Evaluation:
This book provided the readers with excellent imagery and visuals. The book used descriptive details to help the readers really visualize the scene. The text flowed in a sensical way, and was well structured.
Teaching points:
This book would be great to use for any grade (K-5) to teach about the fall season. I think this book would be excellent to use with a Kindergarten classroom during their calendar time on the first day of fall. If the weather isn't already incorporated into calendar time, incorporating it after reading this book would be a great idea!
