Librarian's Note: this is an Alternate Cover Edition for B0073H4NYC
City boy Chase Russell is on the fast track to self-destruction. A star athlete, he gets into trouble with drugs and alcohol. Fulfilling a community service sentence in Yellowstone National Park is the last thing he wants to do. After a night of drinking in the park, he wakes up to find his new friends gone, and everything around him has changed.
Sarah Osborne grew up in the rugged Yellowstone wilderness. She can hunt and track right alongside the most experienced men. When some Indians drop a near-dead man off on her doorstep, she doesn’t know what to think. He’s convinced he’s from the future, and wants to find a way home.
Chase has no idea how he ended up time traveling to the past. He doesn’t know the first thing about surviving without modern conveniences. Finding your own food means a quick trip to the nearest fast food joint, not hunting and foraging for it. Time and again, his will is tested to stay alive in this untamed land. Is his growing love for a brave woman who shows him what it truly means to be a man strong enough to keep him in the past, or is he still determined to return to the ease and comforts of the future?
I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.
I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.
Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right? It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.
2.5 stars. This is a time-travel romance that is a sequel to Yellowstone Heart Song, which I kind of enjoyed, enough that when this sequel went on sale for 99 cents, I bit. If you're into rather steamy time-travel romances, I'd recommend strongly that you read Yellowstone Heart Song first, which appears to be a permanent Kindle freebie, so win-win!
This sequel explores the relationship between Sarah, the daughter of the main characters from the first book, and Chase, a troubled young man who mysteriously travels from 2035 back to 1835. It's pretty much like the first book otherwise, except that Chase really wants to figure out how to get back to his own time. But Sarah is so beautiful, and pure (unlike any other girl Chase has ever been around, of course), and she's handy with a knife, which she puts in his face when he threatens to get out of line with her, and he knows he doesn't deserve her, and if you can't see where it's going from about page 10 you're really new to the romance genre. There are a couple of interesting subplots in the story, like Chase's run-ins with the local native Americans, so I didn't feel like this was a complete waste of my time.
If you liked the first book and just want more of the same, read this book. If you really loved the first book, there are three more sequels after this one. I think I'm done here. Moving on . . .
I didn't think that this could possibly match let alone beat "Heart Song" but I was wrong!! Sarah and Chase quickly outpaced Aimee and Daniel. Sarah was so cute in her uncertainty about Chase and the feelings he stirred in her. It was all the more poignant seeing their relationship develop knowing that Sarah had never had feelings of any sort for a man before. To watch them go through all the struggles leading up to Chase leaving was awesome. I was literally chewing my fingernails the whole time Chase was running for his life from the Blackfoot!! I was entranced through the whole thing and I was more than impressed with Ms. Henderson again... Still A FAN!! :-)
This was the 2nd book in this series and I loved it more then the first. I loved the trials and experiences Sarah and Chase went through which made their relationship grow through their own feelings and trials. I loved how the writer included the characters from the first book that made you feel like you were continueing the story that you fell in love with. Yellowstone Redemption is exciting, romantic and full of surprises. I you like the mountains and wilderness with a romantic theme you will love this book. 5+ Stars I can hardly wait for the third book in this wonderful series.
I knew after finishing the first book in this time traveling western series, Yellowstone Heart Song that I would be reading the rest of the book in this series, this one, Yellowstone Redemption, is the story of Sarah Osborne, daughter of Daniel and Aimee from the first book, and Chace Russell, a traveler from the future.
Chance is mysteriously sent back in time after passing out drunk the previous night. He almost dies of exposure and when he is drooped off at the cabin where Sarah and her family live by a small group of natives, Sarah nurses him back to health.
Once he realizes he really has traveled back in time, Chase is like a fish out of water. He has no real coping skills for living the kind of life he's been sent back to and must rely on Sarah while her parents are away on a rendezvous.
I loved Sarah. She was completely competent in the wild but unsure of herself in dealing with a young man she is attracted to. She has lived a somewhat isolated life, though she has many friends among the native tribes. But she doesn't know how to deal with her growing feelings for Chase.
Chase was a slightly more difficult character to warm up too. You just KNOW there is a good guy wanting to come out. And he has reasons for being the way he is, but he comes across as a bit of a jerk at the beginning. But as he learns and grows and adapts to the time he's been sent to, he grows on one.
Another thing I couldn't quite figure out is why the author had him come back in time from so far in the future. He comes from the year 2035 and I couldn't help feeling that's too far advanced. That's 20 years from now and considering how far we've come as a society in just the past 10 years, well I'd rather she have had him from a time closer to today's tine.
I did love visiting with Daniel and Aimee again. They appear iin the second part and are still hale and hearty and madly in love.
So while this one doesn't get quite as high a rating as the first one, still., I really did enjoy it and am quite pleased I bought the whole series in a bundle.
I think as a marketing idea, this is brilliant. Offer the first book free and hopefully get the reader invested in the rest of the books in the series as well as other books the author may have written. It worked out great in this case *grin*
Yellowstone Redemption is the 2nd book in the Yellowstone Romance Series by Peggy Henderson. While it can certainly be read independently on its own, I highly recommend reading the first book Yellowstone Heart Song which is the story of Sarah's parents, Aimee and Dan. It was great to revisit with old friends again.
After a night of partying Chase wakes up 200 years in the past, nearly frozen to death. A band of warriors drop him off at the Osborne cabin however Aimee is away from home so Sarah is left to nurse him back to health. Neither of them planned to fall in love in the process.
Initially Chase seemed a bit naïve and spoiled, too used to thinking of his own pleasures but soon learned in the wilderness in order to survive he needed to grow up and become a man. The way the Blackfoot Indians tested him after he was captured I feel really made this hit home to Chase and he was able to prove (although not yet to himself) that he was well on his way to becoming a strong, noble man capable of providing for himself and any family he may have down the road.
My one confusion with the story was the importance placed on Chase's drug and alcohol addiction because despite the references throughout to the addiction, it really didn't play much of an important role. It wasn't until much later in the story when we actually witness how the addiction and demons Chase has had to overcome play a more important role in the relationship between him and Sarah.
Overall, I really enjoyed this second edition to the Yellowstone Romance Series and can't wait to read the third book.
It annoyed me on how innocent Sarah was. It's okay to be really innocent, but what was really annoying that she kept on resisting Chase's kisses when she really wanted him to kiss her more. The whole prim and proper act is just plain irritating. I would have liked this book better if they talked more about their lives rather than just everyday survival things. To be honest, it seemed kind of boring to live in the Yellowstone woods. The whole day just consists of hunting and preparing food and making clothes. Also, you have to wait the entire book for them to have sex and they only do it once. Trust me, I was waiting for them to do it.
Oh I'm happy Sarah got pregnant. I always like it when the heroine gets pregnant, especially after the guy leaves her.
The hero - Chase - is a city boy with an attitude. He's disrespectful to the heroine who's only trying to help him. I don't have time for asshole heroes anymore. DNF
Chase is an unsufferable heterobasic who would refuse to go to therapy (even in the future), talk about his feelings or share a tiny bit of what's going on in his narrow mind with Sarah, making her suffer 24/7 when he could just SPEAK. It made me feel angry thought most of the reading, and I cringed everytime he called her Angel. However, there were waaaay less ". . ." and more action than on book number 1
I got this sequel for free. I really enjoyed the first book and the description of Yellowstone, so I thought this would be nice. It far exceeded my expectations. While not describing Yellowstone as much as the previous book, I was intrigued by the idea of being transported in time without my knowledge and whether I would be able to survive. I think Chase did much better than I could ever hope to. I do think it is easier for a man in the past than a woman, so I was happy that Aimee had the benefit of knowing she was traveling to the past unlike Chase. I did think it was a little weird that's Aimee time jumped and location jumped whereas Chase only jumped in time. If he had been in LA drunk on the street and woken in Yellowstone, that would have been an added layer of interest, but I understand how that wasn't practical for the author given how the time travel takes place. This book is a great ways to spend an afternoon.
chase is having a run of bad luck in the forest. while trying to find his way home he gets exposed to the elements. and is rescued by indians, and dropped off at Sarah's house where she is by her self. Sarah grows weary of her new around the Chase but after a while they get to know each other and Sarah starts having feeling for him. Chase doesn't know when it happened but his blue eyed angel has burrowed into his heart and when Sarah's parents come back from the "Randezvou" they find out thaT Sarah's been keeping a man in their home nursing him back to health. of course they are not happy about this so they kick him out of their home. But I don't think Sarah can't abide by her parents rule this time when it comes to her true love Chase.
I loved this book!!! Chase is a young man from 2035 who has had a rough life so far and made so bad choices. He ends up in 1835 inYellowstone after a drunkin escapade with some other troublesome boys. Sarah is a beautiful 19 year old woman/girl who knows her way around the mountain and has the courage to will to be who she wants to be in this mans world. You can imagine the romance that is about to take place. The twist & turns that happen along the way keep you in edge. I couldn't keep my head or my heart out if this book!
Another good one. Streches a bit at some points but kept me captivated anyway. Sarah & Chase were as good together as Aimée and Daniel were. Elk Runner is a sneaky but lovable old son of a gun, he sees things clearly.
From the first page to the last of this book I was willingly pulled in. As I became enwrapped in the story I was as equally involved with the characters. Although it is a second book in the series it has a story all it's own and can easily be read with having read the first one. I loved it!
I really enjoyed this book. Not only do we get to see Aimee and Daniel as older parents, but we have a delightful romance between their daughter and a somewhat spoiled city boy, Chase, who finds himself two hundred years before his time. Sarah is a strong, lovely heroine who manages to find the good man buried in Chase's heart. This was a terrific survival story, a beautiful romance, and a wonderful reunion all in one.
A part of Peggy Henderson's Yellowstone series, it was able to be a standalone but works better if read in order. Yellowstone scenery is described beautifully. Loved the characters and time travel storyline. I listened to the audible version of this story. The narrator did well but as a matter of personal preference wasn't my favorite. The author's work, 5 stars. The narration only 4.
Oh I just loved this story. I read back in 2013 and I had thought I had put a review on here, but sadly I did not. This was just the beginning of my adventure in reading her stories, and I am so happy I did. I have read all of this series, it tore at my heart, made me cry, and gave me hope. Yes, it is just a story, but it is such a good story. Every single one of them are.
I loved the story and became very involved. I read straight through. It was very emotional: I wondered, worried, laughed, cheered, stunned, judged, cried and found myself amazed.
Wonderful second book in the series. Chase finds himself back in time. He doesn't have a clue. Besides not believing in himself he has never had to fend for himself in the wilderness. Sarah has trouble believing his story but finds herself drawn to him.
I know I have used (wonderful) after each book but it is the truth. Both my husband and I cannot wait to read the next book. We bought all 13. If you have not started this series, please do. Thank you Peggy!
Cute love story with time travel, but it didn't not stimulate my intellect! I preferred the first one, as I really disliked the main character Chase in this one. All and all, an easy, entertaining read, but a bit samey and boring.
Ms. Henderson's books are well thought out and she gives life to her characters. This story held my interest and was as plausible as a time travel story can be.
Wow! What an awesome story. I laughed, I cried and started over again. I couldn’t put it down. I read it straight through. I think it is my favorite story so far. Of course it wouldn’t have been if not for the first books. On to the next one!
This started out simply and after the five free chapters, I was hooked as I am a time travel book freak. Thus I bought the book. I loved reading the rest of it. Peggy Henderson writes a fabulous story that kept me entertained throughout, definitely worth the purchase, I highly recommend it. 5
