Our hats are bent! Our hats are old! Our heads are bare! Our heads are cold! We all need new hats, it's clear! Thank goodness Happy Hat Day's nearly here.
Another silly rhyming picture book for kids from Gerald Hawksley.
When your baby is 13 and still loves hats of all kinds, this book seriously resonates! The book has been around a while and I will admit I only picked it it up because my kid has a stack of hats on his bedside table that would make Dr. Seuss proud. This is a book that my "munchkin" would have enjoyed time and time again when he was little. Colorful silly illustrations with fun characters tell the story of the Happy Hatster and his quest to bring hats of all kinds to head bare citizens. Children will simply delight in this tale and demand to share it again and again. Perfect for pre-school bedtime stories and the rhyming prose is great for early sight readers.
Our hats are bent! Our hats are old! Our heads are bare! Our heads are cold! We all need new hats, it’s clear! Thank goodness Happy Hat Day’s nearly here.
Alas, the hats are old and worn. It's time for the mice who make new hats to magically slip in at night to replace them. Old hats are discarded and new ones of various, shapes, colors and patterns appear.
The rhymes are sometimes forced and the story stretches out a bit too far, but the illustrations are cute and colorful. The alliteration makes the read aloud more fun. Recommended for preschoolers.
Check this book out for some laughter. I really liked the hatvertisements at the end! Enjoy this book if you're a hat lover or having an -at word lesson. Hat day is a holiday similar to Christmas because you go to bed and then you wake up to a new hat.
must read, if you love hats!! i am not saying that it is just as Dr. Seuss but something about these illustrations really make my mind think of those reads ... i am a kid who grew up with them ... so maybe the colors, the vibrant colorful-ness ... no clue ...but either way ... so fun. so happy!! i enjoy that!
Happy Hat Day is a fun rhyming book that will bring a smile to your kids' faces. My seven year old and my three year old laughed the entire time while we took turns reading this cute story.
Our favorite part was when they threw all the old hats into a tree so the birds could nest in them. This is the second book we have read by Gerald Hawksley and we are huge fans of these funny kid's books.
Happy Hat Day by Gerald Hawksley Illustrated very colorful drawn children's book about how the Hatster delivers a new hat to everybody in the world once a year. They all get in the hat parade around town. There are hundreds of hats, different shapes, sizes, colors and some with fur, some feathers. The old hats are thrown into the Hatty Tree. The birds will resuse them. They have Hatty Pie and go to bed at night dreaming of their new hats.
This was a cute story about 'hat day' when everyone gets new hats. A bit like Christmas really, only you only get hats! My 4-year-old liked this story though. 7.5 out of 10
My dearest is a Red Hat lady, so I wanted to read a picture book about hats. A fun story, light and breezy, oh so easy. Should be a favorite of pre-school set.
This was a fun book to read. My son said it was weird, but he enjoyed it. I really thought the illustrations were delightful and added to the story. The ending of the book had a few funny advertisements.
Easy to read, fun for children. This book will remind children of Dr. Seuss but not Dr. Seuss. The rhymes makes it easy to read. Illustrations are bright and colorful which will make the children smile. Definitely a book for your child's library.
Just the sort of silly nonsense I enjoy in a picture book, especially the hatvertisements at end. The rhythm is off at times, but that's not likely to be noticed by it's preschool audience.
