When Shannon Landry came to Annuba, the attractive graduate student thought her biggest problem would be understanding the Cajun accents on the little Louisiana island. Instead she found herself in a desperate duel with a serial killer, first for the life of a child, but soon for the lives of everyone on the island, including her own.
I enjoyed reading Bloodlines. I loved the setting, a Louisiana island filled with Cajun fishermen. It was perfect for a thriller filled with secrets from the past combined with something akin to voodoo. The relationship between the influential Ambrose family and the islanders was well established. The characters of those visiting the island were also well developed. Bloodlines captured my attention fairly quickly and from that point on I found it hard to put down because of its many twists. An excellent read for those who enjoy a bit of the macabre.
This story was exactly what it was described to be. Intense. The thrills and suspense were what kept wanting to read it. The story is amazing. I love how the author told this story. Very well written. The characters were great. Some were quite the 'characters'. Ambrose is a charming maniac. You hate him, you wonder, and eventually you understand him. Not saying he's a good man, only that he's a clever maniac. Again is one hell of a woman. I really admired her. I would definitely recommend reading this novel, 'Bloodlines'.
