When James, Alle's hot co-worker, asks her out for a date, she can hardly wait. But then he takes her to an abandoned mental hospital to look for ghosts - with a group of his friends. As she stumbles around alone in the dark, she resolves to never let a handsome face or adorable dimple sway her into making another bad decision. Only crazy people believe in ghosts, and if James and his friends don't stop trying to scare her, she's about to walk out on this so-called date.

She loves writing in many different genres because life is too short to be stuck in a rut.
She couldn’t say no to James, when he said they were going ghost hunting at the mental hospital and I am sure no good will come of it. I remember the monster under the bed, the dark basement, the chilling nighttime outdoors with no lights, no moon…and she has it so much worse…it’s following her…truly frightening, wickedly creepy.
Regina Puckett is able to give me chills reading her books even in the daytime! She managed to pack a lot into 21 pages. Her stories are always well written and this one does not disappoint.
This book takes place in an abandoned mental hospital where James takes Alle for their first date to hunt for ghosts. Kind of an odd place for a first date but who am I to talk. I was taken to a cemetery for a first date to meet his grandparents who happened to, ummm, live there. True story.
I highly recommend this book and after you read it, read Ours which takes place in the same abandoned mental hospital a year later!

Terror filled read!
I will now look at amateur ghost hunting in a totally new light because of MINE by REGINA PUCKETT. This is a wickedly scary read.
Alle is excited to go on a first date with the cute co-worker, James, until she finds out that they are going to be with a group of amateur ghost hunters in an old, dirty, abandoned mental hospital. Getting over the fact that no dinner came before the hunt started and that she was not dressed appropriately, she allows herself to go along with James on the hunch that it is a dark building and some kissing may be involved in the near future. Little does she know ...
If you enjoy paranormal hunts, you've got to pick this book up! I LOVED it!
This short story written by Regina Puckett is spine tingling. Alle has agreed to go on a first date with a co-worker, James, to a ghost hunting party with many others. In the dark of night, they all go to an abandoned, old mental health hospital. There are several buildings and the the hunters spread out among the buildings. Alle stays close to James, hanging on to him at times as they wander through the very dark hallways filled with debris. Suddenly, Alle realizes that she's no longer behind James and finds herself alone in the very scary building. Thus starts the terror trip for Alle trying to find her way out. Regina Pucket knows how to spin a really scary story that makes you feel the fear of Alle. Want a scary story to read when the lights are off? Go for this one -- it will send shivers up your spine.
Wow! Is how I am going to start this review. This is the first book I have read from author Regina Puckett and I am so glad I did. Regina writes in a way that as soon as I picked up the book I didn't stop reading until I reached the end. I felt like I was the character in the story even reaching for my own protection. I had goosebumps. I looked around when I could even feel a breath on my neck. Regina has a great writing style so easy to read. Which is what you want out of any author. Congrats Regina on writing a short story that held my attention the whole time. I am thankful I read your story and I know it won't be the last. Just remember if you are going on a date for the first time ask: 'What shall I wear?' You may be ghost hunting.
Alle Greene thinks James is attractive and she's anxious to go on a date with him. When she finds out James and his ghost hunting group are going to explore abandoned hospitals known for their paranormal activity, she still feels she is in good hands with James. That's when Alle finds things are not as they appear and her horrific adventure begins. This story had a great feel to it and the author did a great job pulling out more than a few goosebumps. For a short story this one is definitely worth the trip and then some.
Brought back some spine-tingling memories How many of us remember the haunted house, warehouse, old train depot, hotel, whatever, from our childhood and the chills that ran up and down our spines as we tried to put on the "I'm brave, bored look" to our friends? Mine by Regina Puckett had me recalling those days. Regina took all those memories and wrapped them up in one young girl, Alle, and kept her fear adrenaline running all the way to the surprise ending. Job well done, Ms. Puckett.
I'm not much into reading horror yet I enjoyed this story. Alle is on a first date and she gets both less and more than what she expected.Tired of waiting for the missing James, she sets out to rescue herself and call 911. But is she truly safe or is their more?
What a great and scary short story. I could not put it down until I had finished reading it. A must read for any horror fan. My only negative point is that I wished it was a longer book. Lets see what else Regina Puckett has in store for us.
This was a chilling short story that I really enjoyed. This talented author certainly has a way with words and knows how to keep the reader wanting more. I highly recommend this short story.
This story is surprising, which is a good thing with horror. The writer is exceptional in her delivery. My only nit was that it was too short. I wanted more.
Alle Greene is on a very odd first date. Her coworker James has taken her to an abandoned mental hospital to search for paranormal activity. The problem is that James has disappeared, leaving Alle alone in the darkness.
This is a fun and spooky short story. There are a few creepy moments that really caught my attention. I would have enjoyed more of them, but I’m not sure much could have been added with the story being so short. A ghost is attacking poor Alle, and her terror is quite real. I felt her fear with every step as she tried to escape from the darkness, making a gruesome discovery along the way.
It ends with an “uh-oh” moment, which I enjoyed. There was room for the author to expand upon it, but it wasn’t necessary. I knew what was about to happen, and it was a fitting end. The level of creepiness was kept up until the very last word, making this a perfect Halloween read.
The only thing holding me back from a full five star rating is the writing itself. This story is in dire need of a proofread. With the numerous errors corrected, this story is sure to be a hit.
Mine by Regina Puckett is a short story about a woman, Alle, who is asked out by a coworker, James. She’s anxious to date him, but floored when she finds out his aim is to take her to an abandoned mental hospital to look for ghosts. In the space of a few pages, the author manages to cram a ton of chills and fear as Alle finds herself alone in the dark with a strange presence that she can’t see, but can feel. When she finally makes her way out, she discovers James dead, and after she calls the police, finds herself under arrest, not only as a suspect in his death, but the eleven other members of the ghost-hunting expedition as well. Puckett manages to keep the suspense level high throughout, and offers up a twist ending that will catch you totally by surprise. My only complaint about this book is that it has a few too many typos and grammatical errors—not enough to cause me to stop reading, but a bit distracting, bringing down what could be a short story worthy of Edgar Allen Poe.
We don't usually review many shorts but I have to say if you are looking for a quick and creepy read this is it!
Alle's hot co worker James invites her out on a date only it turns out to be the worst date ever. For some reason he takes her ghost hunting at a haunted mental asylum and also brings along his friends.
Everyone gets separated but I wont say anymore as I wouldn't want to spoil it. I've read a few books from this author before and although I've enjoyed her stories I always wanted just a little more but this one really pulled me in, kept me engaged and had me breathless at times along with the main character Alle. It was very short even for a short story but that's it's only downfall. This would make a great horror film.
I rate this 7 out of 10 Very good, would definitely recommend a long, or in this case short, soak with this one.
I’ve just finished reading this book and it was a really nice, easy read. Regina sets the scene in an abandoned mental hospital and does a good job in expressing the feeling that someone is watching our main character, Alle.
The only thing that puts me off this book really is the use of Twitter and Facebook. I know exactly why it’s used and it does fit. I just feel it really dates your work to use those things. It’s like when you see mobile phones and things in films, it really dates it. Like if you were to read a book and read “I picked up my Nokia 51 10 and saw the screen light up” it’s kind of old and with how fast these things are progressing now you have to wonder if Twitter and Facebook will have the same effect.
I did expect the book to be longer so it was quite a nice, comfortable read. I look forward to reading more of Regina’s work.
"Mine" by Regina Puckett Alle had no idea James would take her ghost hunting at the mental facility on their first date, she bought new shoes, did her hair and dressed for a movie, maybe. They meet a bunch of James friends at the hospital. When they got there they pared off into groups of two and began exploring all the different buildings. Alle held onto James shirt to stay together, until she turned around to see what a noise was and James was gone when she turned back around. She wasn't scared at first...enough said, you really need to download the book to read the rest. You won't be disappointed. Short story, but twist and turns you don't expect.
Regina Puckett's "Mine" takes you through a night of terror. Alle agrees to go on a date with her co-worker, James, only to discover that his idea of fun is very different from her own. Trapped in a mental institute, Alle is accidentally separated from James, and the ghost hunting team that he has met up with for their "date". Scared, alone, and vowing to never date another dimpled man again, Alle begins to wonder who is really hunting who? This is a short read that will leave you chilled and I recommend it to anyone who loves horror fiction.
Alle is on a first date with James, her new co-worker. However, instead of having a romantic dinner Alle, James & his mates are all ghosts haunting in an old deserted mental hospital.
“Main” is a scary short story that plays like a movie in readers head. It is definitely something filmmakers should look into.
I enjoyed reading the story a lot & felt as scared as Alle did at times. Puckett wrote a very good short story that made my imagination go wild while reading it. I just hope I’ll be able to sleep ☺
What a lark, going on a first date to hunt for ghosts! Well, the heroine thought there should be a few dark corners and her date might sneak a kiss. Surely it wouldn't be long before she could go home. NOT.
This is a really creepy short story that made the hair prickle up the back of my neck as I read it. It's well written and surprising. The story is worth reading, but don't read it by yourself in a deserted hospital! Make sure all the lights are on and you're not alone, too.
Leave the lights on! I am very picky about my horror books and I loved this book. Have read some of her other short stories too and loved them. She doesn't waste ink on unnecessary description and gets straight to the point, pulling you in and creating a scary world right around you...before you know it, you are up close and personal and hoping there is an exit near by! Be sure and look up her other titles...she writes romance too...amazes me that someone can write both and so well!
I always like to find a short story to read by an author so that I can get an idea of what their writing is like. Having said that I loved this little gem! I read a lot of horror, so often I get the feeling of, *I've read this before*. Not this time. I was really shocked by the ending, so go check it out for yourself!
This is a really short story, in fact it only took me thirty minutes to read the whole thing. It was quite good though, quite creepy in parts. The writer had a good way of putting the feeling of fear into words. If you're looking for a nice quick read then check this out.
I would have loved to read more dialogue, but just the same, the storyline was good and the emotions of the main character was clearly described giving this short story a creepy chill factor. Needless to say, I read this before bed and had to leave the television light on as a comforting gesture.
This was the first book I've read that was written by this author. It held my interest throughout and was an amusing horror story. The ending was not what I expected would happen at all. I highly recommend reading this author's works.
