She is a penniless artist rich in compassion. He’s a talented surgeon who was bankrupted by love. Will his fear keep him from the treasure that only she can give him?
Sometimes HATE is such a strong word however I’m leaning toward hate when describing my feelings regarding this book. I was confused if it was suppose to be a Christian book or just a regular romance novel. At any rate, this book had me so angry that I wanted to curse everyone out (from the manipulative mother, son, his friend, the heroine’s sister, and the heroine). The confusing part is that I kept reading this book even when I knew I DID NOT like anyone in the book.
The hero was verbally abusive and the heroine was an airhead. The dialogue between the characters was cringe worthy (plain and simple). There were several comments that seemed politically incorrect (and yes I know romance novels normally don’t address PC). There were several times when I thought scenes didn’t fit into this novel such as the in emergency room when a gangbanger was brought in and died. Like really, why was that there. To what point did it serve. There were several mentions of GOD however none of these people had a relationship (just because you say GOD doesn’t mean you have a relationship). Another example of what annoyed me was when the hero's best friend said that if hero's father hadn't included him in the will he would be at Burger King flipping burgers instead of owning his own company. I’m still like really, you’re smart enough to own your company because you were left with money but you wouldn't be smart enough to go to college if you didn’t have money.
And another rant, why didn’t the heroine get a job. Almost every paragraph she's complaining about not being able to keep her shop open. I have three words "GET A JOB" If you’re not sure how you are going to pay your rent and eat, it’s simple. GET A JOB.
I so dislike this book and WOULD NOT advise anyone reading. I should've paid attention to the reviewer on Amazon who said don't buy unless your into abuse. Did I listen, no but hopefully someone will learn from my mistake. If I could give negative this would be negative to the nth degree.
I was disappointed with this one. While I understand the direction that the author was going with the male lead, I think it was a bit overdone. The dialogue didn't flow as easily as it could have and, honestly, I was a little disappointed on the author's lack of Christian theme. There were a few mentions of the guy's medical expertise being a gift from God and going to church a couple of times, but other than that, nothing. However, it was a clean romance and for that I am very grateful! It also seemed to drag after about 40% into the book, kept looking to see what percentage I was at.
this book might have been ok if the leading woman in the book had an ounce of self respect or a small piece at least of backbone. I'm all about trying to show love to someone that's been hurt in the past and a little love shy but come on....this guy was a total jerk! I mean there's being cautious and being down right paranoid about everything and everybody. I finished it only because I made myself. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
