This second volume in the ‘Men of Buckshot Ranch’ series picks up the story of Mark, one of the secondary characters in the first book. The historical setting is nicely done, and gave me a feeling of traveling back in time; a visit to the saloon, a stay in a boarding house, and travel by stagecoach made the time period and setting very clear.
Mark Prescott is thinking what a mess his life is. He was in love with a man who turns down his love so he decides to leave the Buckshot Ranch and try his luck in the big city. Once there, things do not go better for him—he is mugged and ends up returning to the Buckshot Ranch. Now the ranch has a new foreman, Tex Hunter, who is involved with ranch hand Sean. They have a secret relationship that they invite Mark into. Will taking another chance on love leave him broken and lost or will he find the loves of his life?
Mark is the second novel in the Men of Buckshot Ranch series by Xondra Day. This book really doesn’t have much of a real story. It is mostly sex. If you are looking for a book with tons of m/m sex, this is the read to pick up. If you want a good story, I would skip this one. I prefer a nice balance of both. I felt no connection between the characters, and the story was not enough to save this book for me. I would skip this series unless you just want to read some hot man-love.
