One taste of Daisy Flynn’s delicious confectionery and Max Trevelyan is hooked! This quirky chocolatier is just the person to showcase the cocoa from his plantation. Daisy jumps on the idea – she’s always dreamed of having her own chocolate shop, and with Max’s offer that dream can become a reality!
But Daisy finds Max very distracting: the sexy single dad should come with a health warning! Keeping her eyes on the prize (and off Max’s chiselled features) isn’t easy.
But Daisy has learned the hard way that she’s safer indulging in chocolate than in relationships – and her dream is too important to mess up!
Nina Harrington grew up in rural Northumberland, England, within walking distance of both heather moorland, and wonderful wild sandy beaches.
She decided aged eleven, that her dream job was to be a librarian because then she could read all of the books in the public library whenever she wanted!
Many years later she took the bold decision to take a career break from working in the pharmaceutical industry to realise her dream of being a fiction writer. No salary. No contract - but following her heart.
That decision had put over 1.7 million copies of her romance books into the hands of readers in more than 28 countries and translated into 23 languages.
Some of these books have won international awards.
Nina loves to read both suspense and contemporary romance, and is still a total fan-girl when she meets her favourite authors at book-signings and conferences.
Nina has worked in the UK, France and Spain, and enjoyed wonderful holidays in countries such as Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Mauritius, Reunion and Portugal, but is now settled with her husband in Jane Austen country in the south of England.
When she is not creating stories, which make her readers smile, without the aid of pharmaceuticals, her hobbies are cooking, eating, enjoying good wine, and talking, for which she has had specialist training.
Nina currently writes contemporary crime novels and series romance for the Mills and Boon Modern Tempted/ Harlequin KISS lines and Carina UK, plus non-fiction guides for other authors.
Good book. I really liked both Max and Daisy. Max was a different sort of hero in that he is basically a happy guy. What he needs is someone willing to work with his chocolate to show how good it is and help make it a success. As soon as he tasted Daisy's chocolates he knew she was the one he needed. Max is serious about his business, but he can also be pretty goofy. He finds himself doing some pretty dumb things just because he is so distracted by Daisy. He is also a terrific dad who really loves his little girl. He doesn't get to see much of her and that really bothers him. I also loved the way he was so supportive of Daisy and made sure she knew how much confidence he had in her. Daisy had a dream of opening her own chocolate shop and winning the contest would go a long way toward achieving that goal. But she isn't quite sure what to make of Max. He isn't very good at communicating his plans to her which results in a couple very funny scenes. She is also attracted to him but was badly burned in a previous relationship and doesn't want to risk it again. She finds that the more time she spends with Max the more she actually likes him. I loved the way that she finally broke out of her shell and went after what she really wanted. I loved all the scenes with the chocolate from the first one with the body parts to the end with the results of the contest.
Chocolate has always been a source of personal delight so when Nina Harrington released a choc-o-tastic title I was keen to read. I've loved so many of her books. And this did not disappoint. It's Nina on rip-roaring sweet and sassy form. I loved blonde cocoa-farmer hero Max. He's a daddy cool and and a man with passion and brawn as well as brains. And Daisy the chocolatier was his perfect flavour combo in so many ways so right from the off you're dead set on getting these two together. If you're a Nina fan, a lover of sweet romance with an intense witty flipside and a fantasia backdrop of choc chefs and people who love to indulge their tastebuds - you're in luck. This one will last about as long as a box of great chocs as they pages will turn swiftly and satisfy with every chapter - the best part, an intense sensual experience without calorie content. Enjoy! Yum it up.
The main character of this story is all the delicious chocolate beautifully described in the book. This is an instant love story set between a cocoa producer, Max, and chocolatier Daisy. They both decide to work together and try and make the best chocolate desserts to win a prestigious food competition. Both winning this competition will make their dreams come true.
Working together, they both fall in love quite quickly. Max has put his cocoa plantation above everything else in the past, and Daisy has been badly hurt by a previous relationship before. They both eventually learn a way they can be together.
A choc tastic romantic story set in England and the island of St. Lucia. The descriptions of the chocolate and flowers in the story were so gorgeously romantic 😍🍫🌺
Lovely read for chocolate lovers. Sweet passion between the two characters. Sometimes a little bit slow, but a great read with of course a happy sweet ending.
To be honest, I was on page 130-ish and I was about to DNF it. However, I told myself that I should really give it a chance, and also I am so close to finishing it.
So if you're wondering why I wanted to DNF it, it's because of the way Daisy Flynn (the female protagonist) describes Max Trevelyn (the male protagonist). This book annoyed me so much because I felt like Daisy loved Max at first because of his appearance and masculinity.
I really hate it when girls just go head over heels on hot and handsome guys. I also don't like the fact that it's insta love.
But I have to say that I loved the beginning and ending of the story. I just don't like the process of it.
A very "sweet" Harlequin with a lot of information on chocolate production on a cocoa plantation in the West Indies. Not your run-of-the-mill romance, but very well written with an interesting plot. The H/h are both well written with no major hang-ups. I'm off to find some more Nina Harrington books.
This is a sweet story about an aspiring chocolatier fighting her attraction to a carefree cocoa plantation owner. She has set goals, and he's not so rigid. It's told well, and as somebody who's studied a bit of chocolate making it does read true to life. A nice story for those who love sweeter romances.
I was actually surprised that I liked this book at all. It is a very quick read yet the author manage to get in great, descriptive characters in a limited time frame. Of course it would have been so much better if it was more detailed about future events and their background stories. I was charmed nonetheless.
