Welcome to the Silver Shorts! Every week, we will be giving the Silver Publishing authors a prompt or four to play with and one week to submit flash fiction and short stories to be offered as free reads to our customers. This week's theme is: "There isn't room in this closet for the two of us!"
This week's anthology includes:
Alcohol by RJ Scott
Ambassadorial Closet by T.L.K. Arkenberg
Built on Love by Lily Sawyer
By Any Other Name by L.M. Brown
Closet Case by Julie Lynn Hayes
Hide and Seek by Cherie Noel
In the Dark by AJ Jarrett
Out of the Closet by Diane Adams
Stuck With You by Freddy MacKay
This Closet Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us by Chris Quinton
RJ Scott writes heartwarming, passionate MM/gay romance stories where every man finds his happily ever after. When not writing, she enjoys reading books, watching movies, spending time with her family, following Formula 1 (Forza Ferrari!), and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Email her here: rj@rjscott.co.uk
This Anthology has a "Closet" theme going! Each story has a closet in it, either literally or figuratively. I enjoyed this antho and it was better than a lot of stories I've paid for recently! Recommended!
Thank you Silver Publishing for offering this free weekly download to readers. This week's theme is: "There isn't room in this closet for the two of us!" These were all really nice quick reads. It is hard to score a high rating due to the length of each story, but I did enjoy reading them all. If there is no description, I enjoyed the story, but there wasn't really enough substance to review it.
This week's anthology includes: Alcohol by RJ Scott: (3 stars) A very brief slash fiction that finds its sweetness in the last few paragraphs. Ambassadorial Closet by T.L.K. Arkenberg: 2 stars Built on Love by Lily Sawyer: 2.5 stars By Any Other Name by L.M. Brown: 3 stars. Cute story about two men who are moving in together and coming out to their parents together. Closet Case by Julie Lynn Hayes: 2 stars Hide and Seek by Cherie Noel: 2 stars. This wasn't a bad read, I still enjoyed it, I just didn't even realize there was a history between the MCs and the storyline was a bit choppy. The relationship confused me until the end. In the Dark by AJ Jarrett: 3.5 stars. While the circumstances are a little far-fetched, I still enjoyed this story and really liked Liam's character quite a bit. This was also one of the longer stories which allowed for better character and plot development. Out of the Closet by Diane Adams: 5 stars. As a standalone story, this may not have gotten 5 stars, but when I realized it had the twins from Diane Adams' Making of a man series, of course I was totally biased. I love that series and it was fabulous to see these two boys as older teens and working through a "coming out" crisis together. This was my favorite story in the anthology. Stuck With You by Freddy MacKay: 4 stars. Nice character development. I appreciated the slightly longer story length. This Closet Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us by Chris Quinton: 3 stars.
This was a fun short read. I'm going to have to look at the other Silver Shorts now I think! As some of these books are only a few pages long, it's very hard to write individual reviews for them all.

I'm a fan of anthologies. It's a quick way to find new and interesting authors that you might not have tried before. So I'm used to the fact that most anthologies contains stories that are either good or fair. I've rarely run across one that has bad stories. But this "week" contained all GOOD stories, funny, cute, sexy, though short and all of them interesting and something I enjoyed spending my time reading.
I may have to go and get me some more Silver Shorts :)
Alcohol by RJ Scott is an interesting study of one man using alcohol as a means of lowering inhibitions to get what he wants and to run away from what he wants. Ambassadorial Closet by TLK Arkenberg seemed unfinished or maybe not quite begun with two survivors on an escape pod dealing with the rescued wardrobe of one of them.
There were just a couple of stories in this anthology that didn't interest me, but on the whole I thoroughly enjoyed the theme of these shorties and gave me a taster of a couple of authors I haven't so far read.
For what it was designed for, this was a good bunch of short stories. They weren't anything that made me squeal in absolute adoration for, but they were solid shorts. Too short in my opinion, but since that is what they were supposed to be, it was enjoyable.
