Flynn Montgomery has just taken a new commission as the chieftain of O’Malley clan troops in Western Ireland. His cousin, Patrick MacCahan-O’Malley, is the new Laird of the O’Malley clan; and they are expanding their shipping enterprise across the seas. Flynn is needed in O’Malley territory to lead the clan’s defense and military operations.
O’Malley lands are far from his home in the Shiant Islands of Scotland. A highlander by descent, Flynn is well respected among his people but unknown to the Irish clan he is bid to serve. Will the O’Malley clan grow to accept him as one their own? Is someone stealing the MacCahan and O’Malley clan ships? The O’Malley Laird, his brother Payton, and Ruarc O’Connell, the former chieftan must investigate the strange disappearance of three vessels and ensure the clan’s safety during their absence. Are there pirates on the sea, or could this be the work of a much darker force?
Dervilla O’Malley has watched as her sister and friends have found love. Are the goddesses ignoring her? Is she destined to remain alone as most of the women of O’Malley territory; or will her knowledge of clan maps and nautical charts introduce her to a life she never imagined?

AUTHOR: "CELTIC SKIES", book (3) of the Celtic Steel series is written with a Irish/Fantasy/Paranormal twist. Just when you think you have one situation down, Delaney creates another weave into the plot. Trust me, never a dull moment...never.
GENRE: Historical romance, Fantasy romance, Paranormal romance
SETTING: Irish clans, 15th century, O'Malley Lands in Western Ireland
CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTERS: Daenal O'Malley is the third of five daughters with a talent in the kitchen. She is the most exotic looking of her sisters and yet believes she will never be married. Men seem to avoid her.
CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: Jamie Burke, so it is told, is the younger brother of Odetta. Having been blind since birth he can see the glow emanating from all living things. He has been raised by the McTierney clan and has warrior skills beyond compare.
SYNOPSIS: One man is not who he appears. The Burke clan has been forced to flee. They have all been given refuge by other clans; except for one woman. Ships are missing, Selkies do exist and babies are due. A woman's ability to heal and the truth about one man's heritage is revealed. Romantic passion continues in the life of the clan leader and his wife. A friend or perhaps a foe has come upon the (3) Dragonians.
SEXUAL EXPLICITNESS: Measured from Inspirational romance (not explicit) to Erotica (hot, steamy and sizzling). Level of romantically and passionately “tastefulness”. (Quote from this book) “Tenderly, he turned her over on her knees before resuming his gentle thrusts. Running his fingers through the golden-red mane, he wrapped it around his wrist and pulled it to the side, to afford himself a better view of their coupling."
WHAT I LIKED: As with the previous two books in this series, events and things keep popping up that I never expected. Keeps me on the "what's next" edge. Don't read the ending because you will love it too much.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Delaney....where in the hell is book (4). I'm dying !!!
I give this book (5) stars because while I continue to get past the many character's names, the plot cannot be better. So many different threads coming together to make one fantastic romance fantasy paranormal fiction book. Really it is good
** updated ** Just got the ARC from the author 'yeahhhh'
I've been waiting ever so impatiently ever since and now. It's officially release in Amazon but I've got the ARC copy. Feel grateful! I'm so excited to read it since previous books left me wanting more.
This book did not disappoint me! It is exactly what I wanted it to be. I want more and more. I don't prefer cliffhanger but she makes me want to give a go. Delaney, please be faster for Book #4. You has a way to bring out so many emotions in me and I truly enjoyed it.
I thought I rated this already but it was in the wrong area...so here is my opinion about Celtic Skies: Right off the bat it had me captured, I couldn't put it down and read for hours into the night! There was a lot more going on this time but it made me cry in some parts and some I just "had my hand to my mouth" in aw through the whole thing. As always with the last two it left me in wanting more so much that I am looking forward to October when the next part is out...I am going to re-read this one in hopes of making the time past as I am anxious for part 4 of the Celtic series!! Oh and it is not giving me an option for a rating so I would rate it as a "5" FANTASTIC!!
Celtic Skies Of the first 3 books in the Celtic Steel series this is my favorite. I really enjoyed the first two but this one just caught my attention and wouldn't let me stop until I finished it. Now I can't wait for the next two releases. I will definitely have to get each new Delaney Rhodes release.
Celtic Skies moves away from the story of Patrick and Darina towards the stories of Payton and Flynn. Payton is Patrick’s little brother, he has followed Patrick to McMalley clan and has fallen in love with the daughter of the chieftan Ruarc O’Connell. They have married and are expecting their first child together, but at the start of the book Payton is lost at sea presumed dead by many in the clan, as he went off to find out more about missing ships and wasn’t heard from again. At the same time, Flynn Montgomery, cousin of Patrick, travels from his home to become part of the McMalley clan, leaving behind a troubled relationship with his fiance and entering a new world of uncertainty.
I enjoyed seeing more of the other characters that we have had previously had mere glimpses of. I did feel that Payton and Flynn weren’t given as much attention as the book’s description hinted at, but it was more than compensated for by the focus on Darina’s younger sisters Dervilla and Daenal. Dervilla was an interesting enough character but I really loved Daenal, with her youthful vulnerability mixed in with an mature, logical approach to her situation. I found her developing relationship with Jamie Burke (another new character to play with) fascinating and couldn’t wait to read more of their story. Both sisters came into their own within this book and provided a fresh feel to the story. I did debate whether or not the shift in focus hindered the sense of being part of a series, but in the end the characters were familiar enough to hold it all together.
This sense of familiarity was aided by the time spent on Odetta Burke’s story. Celtic Skies showed her in an incredibly vulnerable light; something that began in Celtic Shores but was really given room to breathe in this instalment. Rhodes continues to tease us with more hints at Odetta’s past but I still don’t feel that I know enough about her – the author has managed to write a character that I am eternally curious about, no matter how much information is provided: that is something rare. Her surroundings didn’t change once in the course of the whole book, but it made her story all the more interesting and I wish there had been even more attention paid to her than there already was.
The one thing that did disappoint me was the lack of time spent exploring the (still relatively new) relationship between Patrick and Darina. After taking the time and effort to make the reader fall in love with both characters and become invested in their story, it seemed odd to almost cut them out of the story. There was only a handful of interactions between the two and I would have loved for there to be more to play with in terms of their marriage. I’m hoping that the promise of a new addition to their family means that Rhodes will shift some of the attention back to them in Celtic Stars.
In terms of the plot, there didn’t seem to be much continuation of what had happened in the previous two instalments (with the exception of Odetta’s story). Celtic Skies almost felt separate to the rest of the series so far in terms of its tone, characterisation and plot; however, I’m open-minded enough to see that this is only the third part of a five part story, so I’m going to wait to see how the rest of the story plays out for all of the characters I’ve grown to love.
Overall I enjoyed reading Celtic Skies; the new characters provided a fresh burst of energy to the story and I really enjoyed seeing more than one relationship developing within the McMalley clan. I just hope that the new instalment reaches my Kindle a little quicker, as the gap between Celtic Shores and Celtic Skies made it slightly harder to get into the story again. Bring on Celtic Stars Miss Rhodes, I can’t wait.
I love getting lost in these books and was thrilled to read the third installment in this series. The author does not disappoint. You can tell that she knows just what her readers want and she more than delivers in Celtic Skies. You don’t come across a series like this every day, but when you do it’s one of the greatest feelings. I just finished the book and I am already missing the characters. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Over the weekend I read Celtic Skies, which is Book 3 in the Celtic Steel Series. This is a historical romance that is filled with a sense of adventure that is captivating from the very beginning. I would not say that this is a romance novel in the traditional sense but the romance is there. The characters are brilliantly defined and it's almost as if the author is painting a picture with her words. Now it looks like I'm going to have to go back and read the first two. :)
I enjoyed the first two Celtic Steel books, but this one is my favorite so far. It caught my attention and I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I can't wait until the next book comes out so I can see what happens. Thanks so much for the ARC! It's reallly hard waiting for the published copies to come out!
I am amazed once again by the talent of Delaney Rhodes! Her book series just keeps me on the edge of my seat! Since I began reading her books I am in awe of how well written her books are and I can't seem to read enough of her writings. I have never been more in love with a series of books. I cannot wait for more!!!!!
Really enjoyed it. Everything from the first book fell into place. I loved the characters especially the 2 strong, tall, handsome McCahan brothers. Can't wait to get the next two books. :)
If you like history and romance, the author created a pretty complex story based on Ireland. This book has very rich content and the author is very good at making detailed description on the surrondings vividly, which helps you to immerse yourself into the story. You need to have good memory to connect past to have a better worldview.
Again so Happy that this has Patrick and Darina in it as much as the other characters. Happy that Parkin and Kyra had their Happiness. Again dont want to spoil it. But Fynn and Dervilla amazing. Jamie and Daenal are perfect for each other too. Now im anxious cant wait for book 4!!
Okay, finished this book the other day. It too me a week to read all 3 books and now after reading the last lines several times over, getting chills, I can't wait for the next two books. Another page turner, enjoying how the original characters stayed with the story and the introduction of new ones. I don't think I will ever get enough of Delaney Rhodes stories!
I didn't get halfway through and was already thinking I can hardly wait for the next in the series. I thought it was a very well written and a beautifully touching love story. It captures you from the beginning to the end without losing your interest. I have not been disappointed with any of the books I have read by this author. I can't wait to read my next one from Delaney Rhodes!
I was so into this book. Now I will never know what happened to Jamie and Daenal. What does the Dragon mean? I so want to read book 4 and 5. It says it is already out but can't find it.
I was hooked on this series from the beginning and keep hoping that there will be some resolution but she just keeps adding more characters. I still enjoyed it but the book just ends and you are left hanging until the next one.
Am I the only one that thinks this book was pure garbage? Ending was ridiculous. Felt more like an unfinished soap opera than an installment in a series.
The book moved at a fast pace which suited me just fine. I gave this a 5 star rating because it was riveting and kept my interest by moving along with story line.
