**This is book one of the Wishing Well Series. The entire collection is also available. Marinade, Bigger, Carryout.** What if having your most desired wishes come true was as easy as throwing something in an old well, and stating your wish? What if the one granting your wish was a beautiful demon named Daniel? Would you take a chance? Allison Philips, a girl you'll love to hate, is on the verge of losing her best friend, Sarah. She reluctantly decides to go to the freshman wishing well party with the hope of finding her friend and giving her an apology. Never a believer in anything but herself, she makes a wish that she knows will make Sarah happy. Instead, Allison fights for her life as Daniel makes her wish come true in the most agonizing and terrifying way possible. Amanda is Allison's old high school classmate. She throws her bracelet in the old well, and uses her wish to land the one guy that hasn't even noticed her existence. Daniel grants her wish, and Amanda soon realizes that her new boyfriend holds a dark and gruesome past. He plans to use Amanda to fufill his own sadistic desires. Back in his home, under the well, he pulled his shirt over his head, and removed the leather strap from his nape. His hair fell to his shoulders, and he shook his head in relief from the binding. The upcoming party would prove to be quite entertaining, of that he was certain, and he walked to his full length mirror to take a good look at what everyone would see in a few short hours time. A tan and very hard body; the perfect blend to bring the young people to his side in the beach side town. He was taller than most men, and his smile was of absolute perfection. The demon laughed at his chiseled body, and ran his hand down the perfectly sculpted chest and stomach. When his hand lowered enough to trail over his thick c*ck through his jeans, he smiled again. “I would swear I was made by a woman.” Vanity, it was his favorite sin, and one he quite enjoyed Language, Sexual content, graphic violence, bloody gore. When I downloaded this book on my kindle, I had no idea what to expect. It looked interesting and the price was perfect.
Once I had started reading, I didn't want to put it down and finished it in one day. Allison is a character that you love to hate and though she's never nice, I found myself wanting to hear her speak more and more. I loved Daniel's character as well, though I'd never want to befriend him!
The suspense and tension builds at a fast pace when all of a sudden you realize what is about to happen next...and I felt myself cringe as it began to happen!
This is the first time I've read a book by this author, but can't wait to read her next one. If you love suspenseful thrillers, this one will not disappoint.
With a great feel for psychological horror, Rebecca Ratliff delivered a suspenseful, thrilling tale. This novel will leave you forever thinking hard about wishing for anything! I have always been a quick and voracious reader, but I didn't want to put this book down. Best of all, it wasn't predictable. I had no idea where the author was going until she hit me with it. Then you could look back and say, oh yeah, see, that should have been a clue. I love that.
I just can't. I really tried. I went to about page 50 before I couldn't take anymore and had to stop for my own sanity. To each their own (if you like this book, awesome). The dialogue was beyond immature, the characters are bland and boring ... the 'mean' girl just repeats the same insults over and over and is just an obnoxious twit (which I get is the whole point, but OMG I couldn't do it .. it's so over the top it hurt my brain).
I'm another who doesn't understand the 5 star reviews. To be honest this just wasn't well written. There were a lot of errors, the story itself is somewhat disjointed and the characters were very one-dimensional. I'm giving it 2 stars because I enjoyed Allison's... final scene.
As for Amanda's final scene, I would think she would have bled out pretty quickly. As in, quicker than the time it took for him to rant and make all those cuts. I'm also surprised neither one of them tried throwing about some bible verses or something once they realized what Daniel was. Lol That would be a logical last minute attempt to save yourself, considering the situation.
So, yeah. This is the basic be-careful-what-you-wish-for themed story. The concept of Daniel and the well seemed interesting, but alas. Some things needed tightening up or just dropped, a few things probably could've been fleshed out more, there was too much tell and not enough show, etc. A good editor definitely would've helped, as well. I'm curious to see how that dude's wish for a bigger penis plays out, but not sure if I'm curious enough to deal with the rest.
I'm sorry for the bad review, it's just... Sigh. Thanks for the free e-book?
I don't really understand the five star reviews here, as I can honestly say that this was one of the worst books that I have read recently. There were many errors that should have been caught and corrected in even the lightest of edits. The characters were flat, never being given any depth. The main character was a vicious, self-absorbed sociopath who thought nothing of nearly killing someone to get back at them for an imagined slight. The plot rambled and a whole new storyline was added halfway in that had virtually nothing to do with the first one. The story-telling was somewhat childish. If it hadn't been for the swearing, excessive drinking, sexual talk and gore, it could have been told by a fourteen year old by a campfire to make her friends shriek. Sadly, it had no redeming qualities.
Worst book ever.... maybe not ever but it is along those lines. I hate writing bad things about people's writing but seriously. I couldn't even get through this book to be honest to fully write a descent review... I suggest you do not read it and move on... to a good book.
I don't understand the two 5 star ratings for this book. It was terrible. The grammar was bad, editing horrible and no likeable characters. Very tedious read. Blah.
Boring!!!!! I was wondering if the author is thirteen and trying to gross readers out with her childish story line with the revenge tactics of a spiteful lonely adolescence.
