Georges Duhamel

In 1920, he published Confession de minuit (ISBN 2-7152-1793-5), the first of a series featuring the anti-hero Salavin. In 1935, he was elected as a member of the Académie française.

Salavin și patologia începutului de secol
Scris de celebrul scriitor francez Georges Duhamel, ”Viața și aventurile lui Salavin” se remarcă printr-un stil captivant, cu o structură epică liniară, ușor de urmărit. Cartea poate fi citită oriunde, de către oricine, însă, fiecare cititor va găsi alte valențe.
Adresabilitatea este unul din punctele forte ale oricărei lucrări literare, fără îndoială, însă Duhamel reușește să facă din aceasta o notă de stil.
O altă calitate a scrisului este capacitatea autorului - rară, aș spune eu - de a-l transpune pe cititor în miezul evenimentelor pe care le evocă.
Aceste observații ar putea pe oricine să îl ducă cu gândul spre arta scriitorilor realiști (Balzac, Maupassant, etc ...). Posterior acestora cu cel puțin jumătate de veac, Duhamel inserează, în scrierile lui, o picătură de suprarealism, pe care o culege din psihanaliza personajelor. În cazul romanului ”Viața și aventurile lui Salavin” este vorba de un personaj comun literaturii din prima jumătate a secolului XX: RATATUL. Autorul punctează, în cadrul unui interviu, faptul că Salavin nu suferă de o maladie anume și nici nu reprezintă o categorie socială. ”El e un om așa cum sunt și cum au fost, fără îndoială, mulți ... ”. La o privire mai atentă, însă, apare limpede încadrarea lui într-o familie patografică destul de des întâlnită și în viața cotidiană a strălucitorului secol XXI: schizofrenicul. Medic de profesie, Duhamel îi refuză lui tânărului parizian calitatea de om bolnav, subliniindu-i, în mod eufemistic, apartenența la ”lumea normală”.
Prin Salavin, Duhamel și o întreagă pleiadă de scriitori contemporani lui (F. Kafka, T. Mann, K. Capek, K. Hamsun) au expus în mod pragmatic adevărata stare a ethosului vest-european. Astăzi, după un secol de progres tehnologic și două războie devastatoare, căutarea sinelui și a sensului existenței este mai actuală ca oricând. Lunga perioadă de pace din anii 1848-1914 a adus plictisul, perioada postbelică, detaliul, iar marea deschidere din zorii acestui secol, haosul interior.

Written by the famous French writer Georges Duhamel, "the life and adventures of Salavin" is through an exciting style, with an epic structure, linear. The book can be read anywhere, by anyone, but every reader will find other meanings.
Addressability is one of the strengths of any literary works, no doubt, but Duhamel manages to do it in style.
Another quality of writing is the ability to author-rare, I would say-it transposes the reader into the events which it evokes.
These observations could anyone to take him with the thought to the art realistic writers (Balzac, Maupassant, etc. ..). Their posterior with at least half a century, Duhamel inserted in his writings, a drop of surrealism, which we glean from psychoanalysis. In the case of the novel "The life and adventures of Salavin" is a common character of literature in the first half of the twentieth century: THE LOSER. The author himself points out in an interview, that does not suffer a Salavin malady and neither represents a social category. "He's a man as I am, and as they were, without a doubt, many ... ”. At a closer look, however, appears clear framing him in a patographic family quite often encountered in daily life of the 21ST century: schizophrenia. A doctor by profession, Duhamel withholds his young Parisian quality of the sick man, noting its euphemistic way i, membership in the "normal world".
By Salavin, Duhamel and a whole host of contemporary writers (F. Kafka, T. Mann, K. Capek, K. Hamsun) were exposed in pragmatic manner the true state of the Western european ethos. Today, after a century of technological progress and two devastating războie, searching for the meaning of existence and the self is more present than ever. The long period of peace in the years 1848-1914 brought the boredom, the postwar period, detail, and the Grand opening since the dawn of this century, the chaos inside.
