Walker always has room on his ranch to set starving boys on the straight and narrow with a good education and food in their bellies. Most of them are thieves that got sent to his place by court order, which is the case for little Jessie Bridges, who is foul-mouthed and hard-to-handle when he takes him to the ranch to give him the court-prescribed whipping and a good home… Even if Jessie can’t see it.
Walker is flabbergasted when he realizes during the struggle to strap the small boy that Jessie Bridges isn’t a boy… she’s a young woman! One who desperately needs a spanking, in fact, and he’s obliged to give her more than one… Especially since she seems out to kill him!
Jessie, who dressed like a boy to keep from getting molested in her travels, practically feel everything she’d hoped for came to naught when she escaped Snake and landed in the care of Walker Ames… The first man who dared spank her. Fortunately, the younger brother she was looking for is also under Walker’s care, but still the man won’t let her go home! Even after the Judge learns her real identity, instead of letting her take her brother home, he marries her to Walker, who has taken privileges by spanking her, instead of being sent to a woman’s prison because of her theft.
They agree to have a ‘truth’ for a year while her term gets carried out, but they have no attention of acting like a couple… Unless they can stop fighting for two seconds, which doesn’t seem likely… And will they end up actually trying to give this marriage ago?
And even if they do, will Walker be able to tame his wife, or will she end up in life-threatening danger because of her stubbornness?
This action-packed Western romance was well-written, fast-paced, and full of excitement. It was a quick read and gave insight into the simple but dangerous lifestyle of the era. The story is set in Cedar Ridge, Nevada, in 1870. Rancher Walker Ames takes young boys into his care on his ranch instead of going to a reformatory school. Walker is fair but firm until he meets his match with Jessie Slater. Everyone thought Jessie was a boy until Walker discovered she was a small but fully developed woman. Marriage followed after Walker compromised Jessie. Initially, it was a marriage in name only, but romance soon bloomed. Jessie was a spitfire and proved good things came in small packages. Her joy at finding her brother was heartwarming. Unfortunately, Jessie kept putting herself in danger, which led to painful consequences. I thought that Walker was too harsh with Jessie at times. I admired how Walker encouraged Jessie’s dream of earning a living, which was unusual in the era. He was one of the good guys.
This story kept me on my toes. It was unpredictable and filled with small-town gossip, danger, interesting characters, good and evil, and the dialogue flowed smoothly. There are no sex scenes in this story, but there are many spanking scenes. All in all, this book was an enjoyable read.
Simply wonderful read, wonderful characters and storyline that held me riveted from start to finish This was another simply fantastic read that I enjoyed read it was written by the wonderful author Joanie Kay and there were a great number of wonderful characters and I loved Walker owns a ranch where he takes in young boys that need some help. He helps the boys to straighten out their lives and he is so amazed at the fact that one of the boys that have been brought into his Ranch to be helped is actually a girl, and Jessie is a whole numch of “Trouble” with a capital T and Jessie is desperately trying to find her missing brother and is determined to find him no matter how long it takes. Jessie and Walker are given no alternative that they have to marry, the judge had discovered that he had actually spanked her and there were no other options give and she did no want to leave the rasnch it was the first place that had actually felt like home. I guarantee that you will love this book and that you will most definitely stay reading this book in one sitting only. It’s a great read and the characters have been written so wonderfully and I guarantee that you will be blown away by this amazing book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
Jessie is looking for her little brother and has dressed as a boy for safety. Unfortunately, she is a victim of a stagecoach robbery and is now traveling on her own without any money or provisions. She takes an apple at the local general store because of hunger and is arrested. Jessie never gets a chance to speak to the judge in her defense and is sentenced to a strapping and a year at Walker Ames' ranch. Walker doesn't let her talk to the judge and forces the spanking and learns that Jessie is a girl. He still spanks her, thinking that she is a young girl and not a woman full grown. He quickly learns otherwise. The judge and the sheriff force the two to marry since Walker saw her bare behind while spanking her. This is common at this time because women are thought of as being loose in these situations.
I like Jessie; she is a strong woman who has learned to defend herself despite being a tiny woman. I grew to like Walker once he started to think before acting. This was a fun book to read, and I liked the HEA.

Another enjoyable story from Joanie Kay. Her stories are well written, move quickly, and have a lot of interesting characters in them. In this story, Walker owns a ranch where he takes in boys who have been in trouble and puts them to work to straighten out their lives. He is surprised to discover that the newest “boy” is a girl – Jessie – who is hot tempered and on a search for her brother. Walker and Jessie are forced to marry by the local judge when he learns Walker has spanked her – and this leads to a series of stories within the story that make the whole book interesting and fast paced, as both Walker and Jessie deal with many different problems.. The other characters are all interesting and both Walker and Jessie are strong and determined to do the right thing. A fun, delightful read as Walker a rancher takes in teenage boys that were destined for the reformatory for boys. Most of these boys had only stolen food to eat. He was called in to pick up a real feisty one, which the case was decided by the judge, sheriff, and Walker without talking to the kid. When Walker got home, he discovered the boy was in actuality a female, and her brother Billy already lived at the ranch. Plus things only seemed to go more down hill from there. Jessie turned out to be a very accomplished woman for that time period, while Walker was a kind and caring man. It was tough to put this book down when I needed to stop to do other things.

Mistaken identity, forced (temporary) marriage, power exchange (involuntary??), danger, fast paced, closed door.
Walker tries to do the right thing by the boys he takes in as well as his new and unexpected wife, Jessie, which includes discipline. However Jessie, while tiny, is strong, capable and independent, so a power struggle occurs.
Great supporting characters and storyline, action packed and I really liked how Jessie's character was still able to be independent, despite the marriage and discipline.

I did enjoy this storyline. We moving a bit in the time where houses have bath rooms and woman could have their own money and business . The spiciness in this story will make you laugh, Jessie is a redhead with temper to much. And she know when is time to admit she is wrong. Walker, giant man with heart as big as him. Family bonds, friendships are growing and bad people are punished. Definitely recommend.

Warning: If you don't like books that involve spankings, you might want to pass on this book. Walker takes in wayward boys at his ranch and tries to rehabilitate them and make them productive members of society. His newest addition is full of surprises and is going to turn his world upside down and so will the next young man. In fact, the whole town is going to get a much needed wake-up call. I personally enjoyed this book.

Loved the story. Jessie is sent to Walker for a year for stealing an apple. Walker discovers that she is a woman when he is about to dish out the ordered strapping. They are married and Walker learns that Jessie is a brat. She does what she wants and finds herself over Walkers knee more times than not. I enjoyed reading the trouble that Jessie finds herself in and the happiness that they find in the end.

I've read several books written by Joannie Kay; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
She has written a good stand-alone book. The story is about Jessie & Walker; he runs a ranch for troubled boys. She disguises herself as a boy in search of her little brother that’s been missing since a stagecoach robbery; she gets sent to the ranch until they figure out she isn’t a boy.
Jessie was not expecting the consequences of her actions to land I front of Walker. Forced to marry, Walker discovers how sassy Jessie is and she discovers more consequences for her behaviour. I do adore how Walker is strict but so encouraging. Enjoyable read.

Walker's Rules is an exciting Western romance. Caught up in one trouble, Jessie finds herself in even more hot water, pretending to be a boy. The story was so much fun to read and the steamy bits were perfect.

Its 1870. Walker Ames runs a ranch. He takes in boys that have gotten into minor trouble with the law and gives them a roof over there head, food for there bellies and an education. He is called by Sheriff Tanner to come and take the latest boy he caught stealing an apple. The Judge sentences the boy to 1 year on Walker's ranch. All 3 men do this without talking to the boy called Jessie. After being called every name in the book buy Jessie and trying to run away twice Walker finally gets them to the ranch and takes Jessie into his study to give him a good spanking. Its during this that Walker finds out Jessie is a she after baring her bottom for the spanking.
Jessie is outraged of course and after getting her spanking her little brother comes running in. Jessie had been looking for her brother Billy and it turned out he had been on Walkers ranch for 6 months.
As Jessie has been compromised the Judge gives her two choices - women's prison or marry Walker for a year. Jessie chooses marring Walker but has no plans to be a obedient wife.
Turns out Jessie is not all Walker thinks. She can shoot a gun better than any man around and can take care of herself.
There are alot of secondary characters in this book and I loved them all.
(this is a spanking romance book - and alot of butts are warmed :) )
The rancher and his spitfire - Walker is genuinely shocked and dismayed that he gave Jessie a spanking on the bare. She's a young woman, so he'll have to do right by her. Even if she fiercely objects. She'll complete her sentence as his wife, and he'll heat her behind as often as needed to see she behaves properly. Real life cowboys versus Indians scenarios play out for the lovers, with kidnappings and attempted murder on the side. With the childrearing (probably the hardest of their trials) Walker undertakes, this story is a fast-paced spanking good time. Only Mrs. Gibbons escapes Walker's brand of justice on the ranch and that's 'cause you don't raise the ire of the woman who fills your belly with some good home cookin'.
Great characters all, even the baddies playing their roles with perfection and getting their just desserts. A two-fer as the sheriff gets his own lady love. And he's got a mean swing he can't wait to dust off. The ending was lovely, giving readers a wrap-up of the characters' fates in the future. A good closed door read with a new couple and their found family.

This is a very good book about a man who takes on troubled boys who need ddirection in their lives so that htey wont keep committing even more serous crimes nasd end up in jail. Jessie gets caught stealing an apple an since she is disguised as a boy gets sentenced to 1 year on Walker's Ranch. It isn't until Walker is spanking her that he realizes he is a she. So they end up getting married and because Jessie is so strong willed and fiesty she earns many a trip over Walkers knee.
Spunky Jessie is most certainly a young woman in need of a little taming. Walker is big, strong and sexy. While their marriage is mainly to keep her from going to a women's reformatory, I found the developing romance between them genuine and sweet. I love the HEA ending, which is lacking in some romance stories I have read lately.
