This book would be a helpful read aloud to introduce the concept of skip counting (namely skip counting by 2's although the book does introduced counting by threes at the end. Children at the lower elementary age (at least in classroom) are fascinated by animals so it is charming book that uses very cute pictures of them in groups and shows how to skip count them and also write the associated addition sentence that goes along with the picture. This book is a great way to develop a real world concept of how we could use skip counting to help us count groups of objects.
