I read this book right after it was published in 1974. I lived overseas for two and a half years and I read constantly. This is the only book title I remember from that time period- that is how profoundly this book moved me.

This fictional novel is about a baby/child/man named Richard who ages 8 years for every year he is alive. His condition is akin to progeria, a disease I didn't even know existed until I read this book. The story follows him through his life, and is really told by people who get to know him. It is touching, interesting and sad, but that should not keep you from reading it, because it is a story you will never forget. You'll probably have to track down an old copy of this book because it's not in print anymore.
