About the author

John R. W. Stott is known worldwide as a preacher, evangelist, and communicator of Scripture. For many years he served as rector of All Souls Church in London, where he carried out an effective urban pastoral ministry. Outstanding! So helpful not only in grasping the flow and detail of Paul's teaching in Romans 5-8, but also (as a result) in making clear on a practical level God's wisdom for how to live the Christian life, battling sin and living in the freedom of justifying grace.

Someone needs to reprint this as it's no longer readily available and is sufficiently different in style from Stott's later Roman's commentary to make them both of benefit.

Ann excellent exposition of Romans 5-8 and definitely an invaluable resource on the Christian life. He breaks down each chapter through the idea of a Bigger portrait, the Christian Life, and looks on each aspect according to each parts of what Christ has done as illuminated in the letter to the romans. The book is no longer in print (to the best of my knowledge) These were Keswick talks that Stott did and it was turned into book form by IVP. You can get it used by hunting down for it, it will be worth it Trust me.

Classic Stott exposition of a great New Testament passage. Originally a set of talks delivered to the Keswick Convention in 1965 & then subsequently turned into this short book. Given that Stott concerns himself mainly with exposition it has held up really well through the decades & as he uses very little contemporary illustration very little of it feels out of date. Full of wonderful truths clearly, succinctly & powerfully expressed.
