A Must Read for Anyone Who Has Experienced Loss
Warren Oates, best known for coining the term “workaholic” was also well-known for his many books on pastoral counseling. Your Particular Grief was written in his warm, conversational style. In the book, Oates looks at five kinds of grief that people suffer when they experience loss. The kinds of grief are anticipatory grief, sudden or traumatic grief, no-end grief, near-miss grief, and pathological grief that requires medical attention. Oates devotes a chapter to each type and offers advice on how to deal with your grief. Oates writes that the book was written “to address the uniquely personal grief that you bear.” He writes about grief from a Christian perspective and his compassion for those who are dealing with loss comes through on each page. A must read for anyone who has experienced loss.
