Easy read about a young boy who looks for trouble just about any where he can find it. This memoir is the second of three autobiographical books spanning the author's life. Although Forgotten Memories focuses primarily on Mr. Rodriguez's teenage years (about 14-16), he flashes back to his childhood every other chapter.
Arturo's memoir covers the affairs of both parents and the eventual break-up of the family, his affinity with lying to his parents, stealing, drinking, fighting, getting arrested and buying drugs. A very engaging book for teens, especially those familiar with San Jose, California, as it provides the backdrop throughout his life. My summer school students enjoyed this book immensely.
