My best friend needs my help? Consider it done, no questions asked. Well, maybe one question…
Will you marry me?
Except Camilla Byrne is more than just my friend. She’s the woman I’ve loved ever since we met, the one who knows me better than I know myself, and the one I would put everything on the line for.
Including my heart, it would seem. Because Cam’s chance at an inheritance that will guarantee she gets everything she’s ever dreamed of, requires the one thing she’s never wanted.
A husband.
Next thing I know, we’re saying I do. Now she’s living in my house. And sleeping in my bed - for comfort, nothing more.
Because there are some lines I will not cross. Not unless my wife crosses them first…

"He is what I need. And that terrifies me."

''You brought me back to life.''

I've been looking forward to reading this book ever since I read 'Pretend to Love You,' and I have to say, I've become a fan of Julia Jarrett.

I love it when the guy falls in love first and spends years waiting for a chance with the girl. Beckett is kind of a dream, a sexy nerd who wears glasses. And I don't even need to mention his dirty mouth. I want him for myself.

Throughout the book, I kept waiting for Cam to finally allow herself to be with Beckett. I have to say that I even got irritated with her at times 😆, but I managed to understand the insecurity she felt about losing him. But seeing them find their happy ending was rewarding.

I really loved this book and had a great time reading it.

This was a really cute, spicy, and lovely book.❤️
Cam's grandfather dies and to get an inheritance, she needs to be married, so she asks her best friend Beckett to help her with that.
She is really against marriage or any commitment because of her past, while Beckett is a romantic soul and he is been in love with her for years.

I need Beckett in my life right now.😩 He is so caring and patient with her. He is a cinnamon roll guy, private and shy, but definitely not shy in the bedroom with that dirty mouth.🥵
Oh and so many "my wife" moments.🤭

"...But I do want to know if there’s a chance that you’re open to someday having more than friendship between us. Because what happened this morning, that’s not how I take care of my friends. That’s how I take care of my wife.”

The book isn't unnecessarily long and there is no 3rd act breakup.😍 If you are a fan of this tropes I really recommend it!

You know I loved these two but I'm not 100% convinced that Cam deserved Beckett. That man can be my friend and lover any day of the week. His silent everyday presence with dirty minded bedroom talk is what makes him (maybe) the ultimate book boyfriend.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Cam just fine but he was the star of this book. I got to give her some credit, her childhood was less than ideal and I could understand her attitude towards love. When she let go and embraced him and his love, I was over the moon, because if I've ever wanted someone to find his HEA I think no one is more deserving than Beckett.

This family has become one of my favorites and I can't wait to see Beckett's twin ( Sawyer ) getting hit with the Cupids arrow. That will be so much fun to read and I'm here for it.

Another 5 star read from Julia!

I’m a goner for best friends to lovers & this is right up there with some other favorites! Beckett and Cam have been best friends since university. Beckett always had feelings for Cam, but she’s kept their friendship strictly platonic. After losing important
people in her life, Cam put up strong walls around her heart. Beckett’s devotion to Cam was top notch though and he stood by her side through thick and thin. *insert heart eyes*

If you enjoy small town, strong brother/family connections, and steam, this is for you! While this is a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order and meeting all the Donnelly brothers! I can’t wait for Sawyer’s story!

Title: Promise to Marry You
Author: Julia Jarrett
Hero/Heroine: Beckett & Cam
Tropes: Marriage of Convenience, Friends to Lovers, Small Town, He Falls First,

tw/cw: death of a grandparent, death of parents (off page but mentioned),

✨the good ✨

Just when I thought those Donnelly brothers couldn’t get any better, here comes Beckett with his knack for numbers and dirty talk (yeah, I was shocked too, but apparently these two traits go really well together). I think he just about edges the other brothers out of the top spot, I absolutely adored him.

Cam has just buried her grandfather and gets the shock of a lifetime when she meets with the lawyer to discuss the will. Being anti-relationship, Cam is not happy about the situation she finds herself in. Enter Beckett and all his swoonworthy goodness.

I love the friends to lovers and marriage of convenience tropes, so when you put them together in one pick, I lap that shit up. Beckett was the perfect hero, so caring and sweet, only ever wanting to make Cam’s life easier. I have to admit, it did take me slightly longer than normal to warm up to Cam, she seemed a bit too closed off for me, however she soon let those walls down and let people in.

This was a fabulous addition to the Donnelly’s of Dogwood Cove series, I loved reading about Beckett and Cam’s relationship. Now it’s time for Sawyer’s story, and I just know it’s going to be a good one.

✨ the bad ✨

It’s not bad as such, however I did feel that the relationship between Beckett and Cam was very one sided, it seemed like he was putting in quite a lot of the effort. Still loved them though.

✨overall thoughts: if you love an accountant with a hidden dirty side, then you’ll adore Beckett
✨ heat level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
✨ star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was SO GOOD! I’m such a sucker for best friends to lovers, especially where he falls first 🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Everyone Cam has every loved has left her - except her best friend since university, Beckett. She’s terrified of love and relationships, and stays clear of them.

Beckett knew Cam was the one the second he met her. When she needs to be married to access her inheritance, he immediately proposes. Cam moves in with Beck, in his small town of Dogwood Cove. She feels at home, with Beckett, in the town, and with the Donnelly’s - but will she stay?

Beckett is such a perfect book boyfriend - sexy nerdy accountant - WITH GLASSES - who is a total cinnamon roll. Oh AND he has a dirty mouth in the bedroom 🤭

Cam is a tough one, but also so broken. Beckett is so patient with her, waiting for her to catch up to him in feelings.

What you’ll find in Promise to Marry You:
⭐️ Marriage of convenience
⭐️ Best friends to lovers
⭐️ He falls first
⭐️ Opposites attract
⭐️ Roommates/forced proximity
⭐️ Cinnamon roll hero with a dirty mouth
⭐️ The most wonderful, loving Donnelly family
⭐️ Small town
⭐️ No 3rd Act Breakup
⭐️ Dual POV/first person
⭐️ Canadian author & setting

Thank you so much to author Julia Jarrett for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

As a devoted fan of the friends-to-lovers and marriage of convenience tropes, "Promise to Marry You" by Julia Jarrett instantly won my heart and stands proudly alongside my other favourite romances. Beckett and Cam's story is a heartfelt exploration of friendship, love, and the power of vulnerability.

Beckett and Cam have shared a special bond since their university days, a friendship that has weathered the test of time. Beckett's feelings for Cam have always run deeper than friendship, but Cam's heart has been shrouded in protective walls due to the losses she's endured. Beckett's unwavering devotion to Cam is nothing short of heart-melting, and his steadfast support through life's trials exemplifies the essence of true friendship.

The chemistry between Beckett and Cam is palpable, and their dual points of view provide insight into their innermost thoughts and feelings.

This book is a delightful blend of small-town charm, strong brotherly and family connections, and sizzling romantic tension. While it can be enjoyed as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire series to fully appreciate the Donnelly brothers and their captivating stories. The Donnellys of Dogwood Cove series promises a heartwarming reading experience, and I'm eagerly awaiting Sawyer's story.

"She was the sun and I orbited around her, constantly being drawn to her bright light."

Promise to Marry You is book #4 in "The Donnellys of Dogwood Cove” series by Julia Jarrett! I read book 3 before this one but it is really easy to follow as a stand-alone as well

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

If you love these tropes, you will love this book!!
- Marriage of Convenience
- Friends to Lovers
- Small Town Romance
- Low Angst

Beckett Donnelly is your typical nerdy guy - an account who wears glasses and lives over in Dogwood Cove. Beck has always been in love with his best friend Camilla Byrne. However, she has always kept him at arms length and firmly stated that they were in the friend zone.

Camilla has felt like everyone keeps leaving her - first her parents passed away in a car accident when she was a child and now it's her grandfather. She ends up feeling grateful that Beck is there for her.

Now here's the kicker - a letter from her grandfather states that she needs to be married to receive her inheritance. PS the letter from the grandfather had me in tears!!

Next thing you know Becket is offering marriage even though no love is involved and Cam says yes so she can finally move on from the life she wasn't happy in. When she starts to have nightmares, she cant sleep in the spare bedroom so she asks Cam if she can stay with him. The lines are about to become blurred!!

This book was my second book by Julia and I loved it!!
It made me emotional in parts but Julia wrote the characters of Beckett and Cam perfectly! Cam had a lot to work through to let the guard down around her heart. I love how close the Donnelly family are and so much love surrounds them!

Cannot wait for the next book in the series and cannot wait for Sawyer's book eventually.

Thanks Julia for kindly sending me this arc to read and review. This review is my own honest opinion on the book :)

Beckett Is EVERYTHING

I knew when Beckett & Cam were first mentioned that these two would be an amazing love worth exploring.

Beckett Donnelly is a man who knows what he wants. He proves to be a patient man & to be the best man he could be. He’s faithful, loyal, thoughtful, & always the one constant that Cam could rely on.

Camilla Byrne is a woman who has lost so much in life at a young age. She’s put up walls around her heart so that she doesn’t have to suffer another loss of someone she loves. But sometimes, those walls are penetrable to those who are worthy.

Even though Beckett’s heart knew from the start that Cam was his other half, he willingly loved her in secret for years because she just wanted to be friends. His philosophy, better to have her as a friend than to not love her at all. When her grandfather passed away, she has no one to lean on. Beckett, ever the rock in her life, drops everything to be there for her in her time of need. But when Beckett jumps, he hurls himself in, body & soul. When Cam needed a marriage of convenience, he leapt at the chance. And though she was his wife on paper only, Beckett showed Cam that she was worthy of so much more love than she was allowing herself to feel.

I loved the way that the whole Donnelly family completely embraced Cam & helped her see that family can be so much more than blood relations. They showed her that she could love & she could feel safe in knowing that she would have a soft landing with any stumble or fall. The way that she slowly began to see all that Beckett had been to her for so long, how perfect he was for her…body, soul, & mind.

This best friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, found family, small town romance gave me all the feels and somehow left me wanting so much more. Sawyer is going to bring me to my knees when his life gets turned upside down.

Camilla Byrne and Beckett Donnelly have been best friends since their second semester of college when Cam sat beside Beckett in class. Truthfully, Beckett had been a goner, but for the longest time, he had to be satisfied with the position of best friend. Due to past trauma, Cam was convinced that she could spare herself the pain of losing loved ones by simply not loving anyone, so she’d always been determined to keep Beckett at a distance. He’s just her best friend.

That is, until her grandfather’s passing and a will that required Cam get married before she could access her inheritance. Her grandfather didn’t want her to be alone, and she was determined to be just that. So, of course, bestie Beckett swoops in to help and just confirms my opinion that Becketts are the best book boyfriends. And did I mention this Beckett has a slight obsession with LOTR?

This is such a wonderful friends to lovers, marriage of convenience story. Beckett takes Cam home to Dogwood Cove where she can heal, surrounded by his family, and more importantly, his charm. Beckett knew there was a good chance he’d end up hurt, but he took that chance to make sure Cam got back on her feet. I loved their friendship, but I loved watching Cam slowly melt for Beckett even more. Between the Princess Bride movie nights, forehead kisses, and his dirty mouth, what other choice did she have? Beckett is certainly the sexiest accountant I know!

I simply adore Julia’s writing style, characters, and stories. I cannot wait to see what else she has up her sleeve for the Donnellys of Dogwood Cove!

“Promise to Marry You” is the fourth book in Julia Jarrett’s The Donellys of Dogwood Cove series, and it’s a best friends to lovers/marriage of convenience romance. Beckett and Cam have been best friends since university, and while Beckett has always had feelings for Cam, she’s never seen him as more than a friend. I really loved this book, I thought Beckett was a total sweetheart and I loved how devoted he was to Cam, and how he always tried his best to take care of her and give her what she needed. As for Cam, I felt really bad for her because of all that she’d been through, but I loved how she began to open up and believe in love over the course of the novel. This was a fantastic read, and I definitely recommend!!!

Beckett and Camilla have been good friends since college. He has always had a crush on her but he knew she did not feel that way so he stayed firmly in the friend zone. Cam has had a lot of loss in her life, so when she loses her beloved grandfather, her last family member, Beckett steps in to get her out of the town she hates and bring her back to his hometown of Dogwood Cove to regroup and be surrounded by his extended family. But the path to getting there takes their friendship to a different level. Can Beckett convince Cam that love is worth taking a chance on?

I have read the other books in this series and loved them all. These characters are so well written that you really feel the love between them growing.

I read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Book 4 in the Donnellys of Dogwood Cove series

This book was so good. Cam is in a town where she doesn't fit in and the people there don't like her. After the loss of her grandfather, the last person in her family, Beckett rushes to her side. She finds out that her grandfather left her a trust fund, but with a stipulation that she has to get married in order to get it. Beckett suggests that they get married and asks her to go back to Dogwood Cove with him and she agrees.

Let me tell you. Beckett is described as kinda dorky, quiet, and shy, but he wasn't so quiet or shy in the bedroom, if you know what I mean. The mouth on that man! I mean jeez louise!!

I liked that Cam had a lot of character growth. She deserved her happy ever after.

I also liked that we got to see the rest of the family. Once again Sawyer made me laugh out loud:

"Don't tell me you never walk around your house with a nudey bootie. It's shit, man. Just Freeball it and relax."

I am not ashamed to say I sat here for 5 minutes and laughed at "nudey bootie."

A huge thanks to Julia Jarrett for this ARC!

Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

After reading the last book in this series (although this one can be read as a standalone), I couldn't wait for Beckett's story! A sweet accountant getting into a marriage of convenience with his best friend? I was 100% sold and I loved him just as much as I thought I would!

With Beckett comes his entire family, who all play a big part in this story, and they are also another reason I enjoy this series so much. It should be noted that if you like your book boyfriends a little nerdy and a freak in the spreadsheets as well as the sheets, then you will also love Beck! This one was a little sadder for me, with the grief that Cam is going through being something I could almost feel myself, but there are only a few of those parts and the rest is relatively light. Of course, the end of this book left me needing more with Beckett's twin this time, so I can't wait to see what happens next!

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and was an easy one to read. I was engaged with these characters the entire time and loved watching these two best friends move from friendship to more. Beckett was awesome to watch with Cam. He gave her the security that she needed and a safe place to grieve and find a new normal. I loved watching him give her that space while still pushing, in a good way, and helping her to take down her walls. He knew they existed and he had a good idea of why and it gave him the patience that he needed in order to show her a different way. This story flowed well and had plenty going on to hold my attention the entire time. I loved watching their relationship develop and how Beckett treated the marriage the entire time. This was another great read in the series but can be read as a standalone and I am looking forward to Sawyer's story.

Like, can I have my own Beckett? This is Book 4 in the Donnelly’s of Dogwood Cove Series, small town, best friends Cam & Beckett, fake marriage, opposites attract and all the chemistry! Beckett is an accountant, quiet, methodical, a great brother, and completely in love with his best friend Cam since he met her in college. Although, she friendzoned him way back when, he would rather have her in his life than not. So, he kept his feelings under wraps for years. One day, Camilla calls her Beckett for help, and here he is, coming up with a plan to help her out. Get married. I just love love love Beckett. Love this series and everyone in Dogwood Cove.

"This woman. She's my beginning, my middle and my end. She's everything and more. And she's finally mine."

- Small town
- (Secret) marriage of convenience
- Best friends to lovers
- He falls first (she’s the one who doesn’t do marriage)
- Golden retriever hero
- Forced proximity
- Dual POV

Cam has been through a lot: losing her parents as a kid, then her grandad, then her job, all while living in a town with judgmental locals. So you can understand why she has her walls up high and doesn’t believe in marriage. But then her grandad stipulates she must marry to receive a very sizeable trust, so Beckett saves the day and convinces her to start over in Dogwood Cove.

I am team Beckett! What a selfless and overprotective golden retriever hero. He was so patient with Cam as she slooowly let her walls come down and showed him her soft and vulnerable side. He was also so sweet – the origami flowers! The art supplies! The hoops studio! The anniversary flowers!

But look, I’m also team Cam. It was a joy to see Cam’s character develop as she was unapologetically herself and found what made her happy. She didn't think she was enough for him, but Beckett proved time and time again that she couldn't be further from the truth. "I don't want anything if I don't have you by my side." 🥺

This was a bit of a slow burn as Beckett respects Cam's desire to stay friends only. But the forced proximity tension between them? 🔥 There might even be some “platonic” bed-sharing before we’re introduced to dirty-talking Beck 😮‍💨. He likes a "my wife" moment... and so do I!

Thank you to Julia for the early copy 🫶🏻.

What do you get when an accountant falls hard and fast for his best friend from college? You get Beckett and Cam.

When Cam's grandfather puts in a stipulation in Cam's inheritance that she must marry to receive it, she is left with little options. She refuses to believe in love and marriage after her parents and grandfather left her too early. Beckett, who has been in love with Cam since forever, offers her a solution: Marry him to gain access to the money.

Beckett knew what Cam needed and boy, did this man deliver. He was the calm, steady and continuous support she needed. He never wavered in his love and friendship with her, and it was beautiful to see. He allowed Cam to be herself, to learn how to be happy after years of frustration and pain, and helped her find her center again. The care he showed to her was my favorite part of this book, period.

Cam was on an island with her walls up and I could feel her pain. She had experienced such loss in her life and found the only way she could protect herself. But Beckett found the cracks and when she found out, she learned to let him in. As scared as she was, as much as she started to run, she recognized why she needed to stay and I loved seeing her growth.

This book has it's heavy moments, but it is full of of found family, love and finding home.

Thank you so much to Julia Jarrett for an arc!

I don't know what it is but I never am disappointed by Julia's books! I love them! I love her writing! Beck and Cam are no different...I loved their story.

Book 4 in Julia Jarrett's The Donelly's of Dogwood Cove series. I think this one is now my favorite so far! It's a best friend's to lovers romance and it's so good.

Beckett has been in love with Cam since they were in University together. Due to Cam's past trauma, it was hard for her to believe in love so her and Beckett stayed as friends. Beckett is such a great friend and is patient with Cam. After Cam loses her last living relative, her grandpa, she learns that he left her an inheritance...with a major stipulation. To access her inheritance she must be married.

Beckett comes up with the idea that they both should marry so she can get her inheritance. Cam agrees and everything falls into place. It was magnificent. Over time, throughout the book, you experience Cam open up and begin to feel, to love again. And with Beckett. It was wonderful.

I loved when Beckett would say "My wife".

This was a great marriage of convenience romance filled with heartfelt moments, spiciness, and laughter. I definitely recommend.

Cam and Becket have been best friends since college. The only catch is that Becket has been in love with Cam since the day he met her. When Cam’s last surviving family member passes away she finds herself in need of a husband. Her grandfather put in his will that the only way she will inherit his money is if she gets married. This story will have you cheering for Becket and Cam to fall in love. I loved this story and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

✅Cinnamon Roll Hero
✅Freak in the sheets
✅Best friends to lovers
✅Small town romance

Once again, we are back in Dogwood Cove this time for Beckett story. We have met Beckett in the past, and by far he is one of my favourite characters. Unfortunately his best friend Cam is currently grieving the loss of her grandpa, who has a condition in order for her to inherit her trust fund and that is to be married ! Beckett has loved Cam ever since he met her so it was no question when he asked her to marry him and next thing he knows she living at his house and sleeping in his bed. Will friendship lines be crossed?

I absolutely cannot talk enough about how much I love Beckett he is literally everything the things I would do unholy ! That man is literally the sweetest human!! And the fact that he’s a freak in the sheets is just a bonus 😏

Thank you to Julia Jarrett and LiterallyYoursPR for the ebook ARC!⁣

If you haven’t listened to me yet, please do. Read Julia’s books.⁣

This is a friends to lovers trope mixed with a marriage of convenience trope. Add in a little forced proximity of sorts and a small town…I’m in.⁣

Can and Beckett have been friends for years. When Cam’s grandfather passes away Beckett comes to check on her. They soon find out she’ll get a helpful inheritance, but only if she’s married. Heyoooo.⁣

This is such a sweet story (and spicy). If you haven’t met this family yet, you’ve gotta give them a try!⁣

Camila Byrne has just lost her only family member and her job in the same 48 hour period. When she learns her grandfather’s estate has a clause - she cannot inherit unless she’s married - she feels even more lost. Her best friend, Beckett Donnelly, convinces her to get away for awhile with him and his extended family in Dogwood Cove to escape the drama in her small town. Oh, and maybe a fake marriage is up for negotiation.

I loved Cam and Beckett together! Cam blanches at the thought of love in her life due to the immense losses she’s faced. Beckett has always been there for her, even though there has been more than friendship on his side since college. Add some dirty talk, forced proximity, and “my wife” and we’ve got a hot little romance on our hands.

“I do want to know if there's a chance that you're open to someday having more than friendship between us. Because what happened this morning, that's not how I take care of my friends. That's how I take care of my wife."

While this is part of a series, it also could work as a standalone. I highly recommend reading from book one, to get the full Donnelly family feel! This is one loving, boisterous group. I received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.
