There is a series that the author is participating in, path of time-deviant that seems to explain where the main character went at the end of the last book, But this book seems to reference things that happened in book 2 of that series, which doesn’t come out until march. I was lucky that I had even read the first book in what is nowhere described as a shared multiverse with these books. How was anyone supposed to know this?
I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.
On the one hand it is nice to have a complex story. On the other, it just gets a bit overwhelming.. By now it feels as if there are way too many important characters most of which i totally forgot about since reading about them some books ago. Furthermore, the antagonists have the nasty habit to multiply and gang up against the protagonist whilest never ever really dying.
Both the cultivation and the fight scenes feel awkward. The endless stupid talks while fighting are hillarious. The tea snobbery and prudity of the protagonist make him seem like an autist. The female perspectives of his harem in spe read like a carricature of modern women...
It's good. Happy to see Chen Du, but the state he was in made me sad. The betrayal of Li Wei's closest friend was felt very clearly. New friends are being made. As well as new enemies.
I can't explain why I'm on the ninth installment of this series. I remember at some point enjoying it knowing very well it's absolutely trash, but there is no enjoyment here anymore. This is just trash.
this book is messy and worse than the previous books. many inconsistencies and feels like it was written just to catch the deadline. no readproofing. so disappointing.
