Discover how easy it can be to drop those unwanted pounds by flipping the switch that revs up metabolism to maximize fat burning all day long. Could losing weight really be as simple as flipping a switch? Absolutely, says Dr. Robert Cooper, one of America?s leading weight-loss researchers....
I have always had trouble with my energy since I was 16 (I'm 26), i'm healthy and exercise daily, but when I sat down I could just close my eyes and fall asleep, I would fall asleep while playing with kids with their toys! When I read this book it made me realize how much I sat down during the day, how i don't sit up straight, how I let my negativity get to me, how I can acknowledge sunlight, and much more. My energy has been outstanding now, everyone needs to read this book or if anything just read the rules for your meta count (I have them posted in my bathroom).
Great book! Very well-researched, unlike a lot of fitness books that are out there. The only weakness IMO is the fact that he has his wife do a section on recipes. I completely ignored that section of the book. The rest is solid and gives you a lot to think about. One aspect of this book that is appealing to me is the fact that it advocates an all-around active lifestyle and being very mindful about things such as insulin levels, quality of food consumed, energy, and activity levels. The meta-stat concept is very interesting. I made a graph, modeled off the one included in the book, and tracked my energy levels versus my activity level for quite some time after first reading the book. The results were telling. A must if you want to pick up some healthy lifestyle information that you may not find readily available anywhere else. This book is primarily about learning to manage/alter your metabolism so that your body and mind operate more efficiently.
I really don't want to read anything that uses a trendy term like "metastat" to describe how I can boost my metabolism. Sipping ice water? Give me a break.
There are some interesting facts about nutrition, a few recipes, and some stretches in here. The only thing that makes sense to me is their insistence that moving your body all day (or more frequently) will help burn more calories.
Other than that, I'm convinced the author is slightly off his rocker.
So far it seems like it will be really helpful in terms of understanding how to boost my metabolism. I just got to the part about the "switches" that I should flip.
