Still very relevant even from 2003, some insights that companies today can learn from. Some stuff didn't quite hold up, and despite splitting culture in to 4 quadrants, inside the quadrant behaviour is shown to be "black and white" but I believe inside those cultures it is still a spectrum of behaviour
I found the model for explaining corporate culture in the book very useful. It is just one model of many, but in my opinion one you can work with although some experts on culture like Edgar Schein refuse to use models.
I found the book interesting and usable. In fact I did use the characteristics of cultures and their clashes in organisations to analyse an issue between two global businessunits in a previous organisation, so I felt well with the model proposed. It is more a book of people who feel comfortable on elements of culture and leadership, so a book for leaders and managers interested to become leaders. Perhaps also HR practitioners, but then those who are leaders already themselves.
This book provides a very useful framework in understanding the culture in an organization and the strengths and weaknesses. The author illustrate how different cultures can be meaningful in different professions and organizations. Reading the book was an eye-opener for me because it clearly demonstrates how there is no one-size-fits-all. It shows every kind of culture also has the seeds of the organization's destruction within it and what one can do about it. A must-read.
