Takako Shimura (native name: 志村貴子) is a manga artist primarily known for her manga works published in Japan which feature LGBT (especially about lesbian and transgender) topics. Originally from Kanagawa, she now resides in Tokyo.
This volume is heavier than a couple of previous ones, but at the same time the great friendships shine in here. Shuu has amazing friends, I’m happy for the kid at least about this aspect. I hope things improve.
I liked the conversation two of the kids had about double standards and different outcomes of the same actions for trans girls and trans boys.
The kids discuss important topics and what’s even more crucial, they discuss issues relevant to their lifes. Shimura Takako portrayed children realistically and you can easily see the kids being able to understand these “difficult” topics and the adults shouldn’t avoid it or dismiss them, like many anti-lgbt individuals preach.
This volume felt a little like filler? I mean it's the aftermath of volume 8, but it didn't feel like too much happened. We're hearing more of Yuki's story now. Ugh poor Shu. There are so many unlikable characters. Hate Maho, hate that kid Saori knows, hate Chii-chan's little friend. They've all got such bad personalities. They're mean to Shu which is the worst of crimes.
It's weird because I feel like Yoshino should be more of a mc than they've been. They don't feel like they're on the same level of mc as Shu is rn.
It’s a real shame the Fantagraphics release of Wandering Son didn’t go pass the 8th volume because I love this series but the scanlations leave something to be desired. Feels like if they reprinted it now it would sell much better.
