How long is forever? Rhiannon did not ask for forever, and she does not even remember it. For this simple, humble woman, her senior year in a new town goes from seemingly ordinary to earth shattering as she unlocks all the tempestuous secrets she's kept protected in her soul, life after unremembered life.
I love to write. Having been a closet writer for most of my life, Eternus is the first full length novel I have released to the world. I love the outdoors. Our family snow skis and boards, water skis and boards, bikes, hikes, and plays a multitude of sports. Our children keep us very busy.
Look for many more books, including the second in the Eternus series, due out soon!
Eternus by Kimberli Reynolds is addictive once you get beyond the slow beginning. The way it is written keeps you interested and more often than not has you wanting to break the greatest rule of reading ever -- to read the last page. There are so many questions brought out throughout the book that you just want answered but I get impatient and want them now... Nobody said I was perfect.
Rhiannon is an intriguing main character, mostly because she makes a lot of choices that I wouldn't have made. It doesn't make her unlikable but rather makes you wonder what the consequences and benefits would've been if she had acted like you had. She is a well-fleshed out character with a deep background story that through most of the story, you have little grasp on. Her relationship with Leone is mostly push-and-pull and doesn't receive a whole lot of development throughout the book; however, that doesn't make the book any less worth reading than it already is.
The friends and family throughout the book play a decent role throughout the book and I got attached to several of the characters. The author places a lot of surprising twists when it comes to character choice in some of the bigger moments of the book and caught me off-guard more than once. Her parents played bigger parts in the beginning and somewhat faded out towards the middle and they definitely were a great set of parents, well, as great as you can expect. There wasn't any really animosity between Rhiannon and her parents which I liked a lot.
The plot was fun and inventive, taking two common attributes of young adult literature and entwining them: vampires and reincarnation. I enjoyed reading it and all of its plot twists that came along.
Rhiannon did not ask for forever, and she does not even remember it. For this simple, humble, young woman, life in a new town goes from seemingly ordinary to earth shattering as she unlocks all the tempestuous secrets she's kept protected in her soul. Secrets about lives previously lived and the deadly consequences that ultimately follow her repeating birth.
My Review:
Rhiannon is an awkward clumsy girl that feels out of place in the new home, town and her own body. However from the moment she looked into Leone’s eyes she felt like she belonged with him as if her soul had been his all along. Only Leone knew that her soul had belonged with him time and time again throughout history only to be taken from him time and time again by Peppin who only viewed Rhiannon as a pawn in a game at torturing Leone over and over. Leones is determined not to let history repeat it’s self this time around…will he be able to save Rhiannon from Peppin’s evil game or will he be doomed to lose her once more.
Eternus draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you turning the pages eager to find out what’s going to happen next on Rhiannon’s journey of finding out the truth and the journey is a hard one in which you see her charter grow stronger as the story progresses. Every time it seems Rhiannon can’t possibly handle any more she finds the inner strength to go on. Leones devotion and love for Rhiannon is so pure and true that you wish that they could find their happy ending this time around. Eternus is full of twist and turns, suspense, action, betrayal and most of all love. Kimberli Reynolds has created a very different world involving past lives and vampires. I will defiantly be waiting to read book two Memor.
Eternus by Kimberli Reynolds is not a typical vampire story. Main character, Rhiannon, is relatable, unassuming, and easy to like. Rhiannon, however, is haunted by persistent nightmares that are slowly eating away at her life. Eventually, Rhiannon learns that her soul has been reborn continuously since the year 800 A.D. With this realization comes another, she is reborn to be hunted to death by a stalker for his lethal game. This book is written in a descriptive, enticing style. The imagery and word choice enables the reader to picture the story as it progresses. Eternus is told from Rhiannon’s point of view and unfolds as she learns about her history and future. An audience of teen girls and women would be preferable for this book because Rhiannon is the narrator and the book has some romance. Reynolds is currently at work on the second book of the series, which promises to be as interesting as the first. The book Eternus immediately grabs a reader’s attention and maintains its grip until the last page.
I borrowed this book from a friend who highly recommended it. I had a very tough time getting through the first half of this book. I'm not very fond of vampire stories anymore. They all tend to feel much like "Twilight" to me, which I enjoyed, but wouldn't read twice. This book was much the same in its handling of the altruistic vampire character, young love, and clumsy damsel in distress. I had a much smoother time with the final part of the book, breezing through it, enjoying the suspense. I did enjoy the connection to history and the unusual twist on the typical inhuman life that the main character lives. My favorite part of the book was the setting, which I wish the author had played up just a little bit more. The rural Idaho vacation-land makes for a fabulous story, and sets this book apart.
I won this book through LibraryThing Members Giveway.
This book is entertaining and has some potential. Vampire monks and reincarnation... This could have led to something very good, but I found it was too cheesy, the heroine is often unable to understand what seems pretty obvious (especially since she tells the story), and what about all this vampire-glowing-in-the-dark-when-near-her stuff? There were some plot holes, for instance why can't they kiss while it's obvious that the game has already started? However I was moved by her abduction, some pages where very intense.
Eternus by Kimberli Reynolds is a great book. She establishes the characters and setting early on and Rhiannon has an intense life changing altercation in the first few pages of the book. I really appreciate how Reynolds is able to describe the longing and desire that teenagers have, without making the book inappropriate to parents. She conveys the feelings of each character so well, and the storyline makes you want to read all night! I can't wait to read more!
I'm finding it hard to right a review about this book. When I first started reading it I was turned off by the amount of similarities between this book and the twilight series. But once I got over that I ended up really enjoying the book, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Loved this book. Moves at a quick pace and with an interesting story. It's not the typical "twilight" book of today. It's very different but in a great way!
