Republican Senator from the state of Wisconsin from 1947 - 1957.
Beginning in 1950, McCarthy became the most visible public face of a period in which Cold War tensions fueled fears of widespread Communist subversion.
He was noted for making claims that there were large numbers of Communists and Soviet spies and sympathizers inside the United States federal government and elsewhere.
Ultimately, his tactics and inability to substantiate his claims led him to be censured by the United States Senate.
So it has good information and all...(assuming you actually know the truth on McCarthy and not just the liberal BS) but it's kind of, I dunno, has vague explanations and is a bit slow. I mean, it was written a long time ago and for a different audience, so that is understandable. It is also annoying how the book switches from first to third person (Probably because his future wife helped him write it, so maybe that caused confusion). However, overall, it's a good book and read it if you want to read "his side".
