It's a sultry July night, and Wild Bill is content. It's deliciously warm outside, the fireworks are about to start, a whole pint of freshly-tapped blood is on the menu, and his boyfriend hasn't murdered anyone in months.Too bad Bill's contentment isn't shared by Michael, who's grown tired of his own lack of experience. He hints that a new lover in their bed might broaden his horizons. Their first encounter might have been a threesome, but it certainly didn't end well for the third participant.Even now, Bill can't seem to shake the memory of the hickory stake protruding from the chest of his old nemesis. Lust wars with guilt as Wild Bill tries to figure out how to bury his past, once and for all.(Novelette - 20, 000 words - explicit gay content)

Explosives, Threesomes, and Confessions...
Mikey and me, we were living in our own little vacuum of blood and sex and vampire love.
Well, book six in the Channeling Morpheus series certainly started out with a bang - that is to say, a fourth of July fireworks display and a bit of public sex...

Bill holds the POV of this story and he's become a little more introspective as the series continues. He really is a fabulous character, and it's always a pleasure to get into his brain.

Michael is settling into his life of an Almost-Vampire. He and Wild Bill work as a team to wrangle goth kids willing to donate a pint for Bill's dinner. It seems as though Michael has traded his satchel of stakes and roofies for a phlebotomy kit.

Michael and Wild Bill have gotten quite comfortable - traveling across the county in their van, fucking like bunnies, and hiding from daylight... So Michael suggests a threesome, and given that he and Wild Bill are loath to spread the Vamp virus around, good ol' Mikey suggests they pull another set of fangs into their bed. The target: Damien. Yes, that Damien, the vampire that Wild Bill went all territorial hiss-fest on in book two, Vertigo.

As threesomes go - and I happen to be a connoisseur of these things - it was pretty fucking awkward.

Michael was over-eager,
Bill was over-protective,
and poor Damien was fairly certain he wouldn't survive the hookup.

I was worried for Damien's safety as well. It wasn't a jealousy thing, more like a Damien-can't-keep-his-mouth-shut- thing. The Vamp had a million questions about Michael's acquired immunity to the virus and he wouldn't freakin' shut up about it. Poor Mikey isn't exactly talkative about his condition...

Anyway, incredibly awkward gothy hookups aside, Wild Bill has some pretty incredible moments during this story, not the least of which occurs when he waders into a confessional and ponders the threesome that began this whole adventure... Michael, Wild Bill, and Ambrose Grey in the first Channeling Morpheus book. That hookup was spark that ignited the relationship between Bill and Michael, and it was the last night on Earth for Ambrose Grey...

Yes, there's been a lot of bloodshed in this series, but I have a feeling that our favorite couple are turning a new leaf. Looks like there might be a little "If we can't beat 'em, educate 'em" on the horizon.

Hit it Bradley Cooper! Yeah, throw this crap away!

How can it go from the best of the series (previous book) to this crap?!

This was the worst threesome I have ever read, and that's saying a lot coming from me. I usually like them if they are well done. This.was.not! I have now painfully discovered that threesomes can be a hit or miss. This definitely was a miss. Gah! It came so suddenly, it was awkward and...and... Gah! I shiver to shake the bad feeling it left me with.

The other books have been good, so this felt so totally unneccesary.
At the end of the story is a Author's note about the story she talks about how Wild Bill and Michael gets "emotional mileage" from their "little romp with Damien"....*gag*
I have never read a note from the author explaining the reasons for a threesome afterwards.

If the author feels it necessary to explain, why the hell did she even write one? That even made it worse.
I'm going to completely ignore this fluke and pretend it never happened. Although "the cut" it made in me is still fresh, bleeding and hurting... pun intended...

Next, please. That better be good.

Totally in sync with Marco on this book. His review here.

Okay, the in this, the 6th novella in the series, does make sense to me. After all, that's the way the series started. It's interesting to see how Michael and Wild Bill have changed as individuals and a couple. It's well done.

Still...

I DON'T FUCKING LIKE IT. It's not my favorite thing is any book and it makes me grumpy in general. I would've skimmed it but I was afraid of missing important character development. I kinda resent it for that. On the other hand, it's the type of series where you find actual character development in the middle of a sex scene or as a result of sex. I think that's the goal in most erotica, but few actually succeed at it.

Anyway, I loved the scene in the and I love how gooshy Wild Bill is over Michael:
I wished I would've know that Mikey was waiting for me once I'd finsished a lifetime of penance. At least then I would've had something to hope for, instead of just wallowing, day after day, in a pit of my own malaise. He smiled up at me as I thought that. Heartwrenching.

3.5*

Well, mystery solved — threesomes and religious talk would put me off a series pretty damn fast, and I was waaay more prickly in 2017!

Still gonna finish it this time, though, because I like the MCs and the relationship development, and the writing style is really good.

Loved this one, too! I was really nervous about the ménage scene, but I was really happy to see that Wild Bill was probably even more nervous than me. It was a lot different than the one in the first book and also reveals so much about their relationship and how they both have changed. Plus it was hot! Poor Damien was so terrified, I was worried that Wild Bill was going to vamp-out on him for doing what he did.

Need more Wild Bill and Mikey NOW!

Review posted at Brief Encounters Reviews.

*Contains Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read the previous books in the Channeling Morpheus series*

Brazen is the sixth story in the series (previously the first in the Sweet Oblivion series) and we start the story on the 4th of July at a backwoods town in Missouri at a fireworks show. Michael and Bill have had some shocks in the first half of the series, most importantly to this story, that Michael is indeed changing, though not into a vampire. He’s formed antibodies to the vampirism through Bill’s saliva. All that safe sex but rampant making out wasn’t really helping them, so now when Bill looks real close, can see Michael behaving a little bit differently. A meeting with a young goth girl to feed Bill for the night leads to Michael deciding he might be okay with sharing Bill with someone else, and they’re back to a familiar situation, a threeway with another vampire. Through their night with Damian, both Bill and Michael have their own revelations, ultimately leading to a more ‘hands on’ education for Michael.

There are two things that I love most about this story in particular. First, from Wild Bill’s perspective we can really see how their relationship has changed over the course of the series. Michael is an over-analyzer and someone who is generally always questioning himself, no matter how many times thoughts thoughts change or seemingly contract themselves over time. Bill’s confession near the end of Brazen opens up a whole new perspective for the reader. We see that while before Bill might have come off as having a less caring attitude (though not about MIchael), that his very effective and highly stylized personality covers what is really a huge amount of fear and guilt about his life. Only with Michael as his buffer to the world does he start to grow, soften his edges a bit (though internal, to be sure, lol) and force him into a situation where he’s actually accountable for something.

Michael’s also in a state of transition in this story. In the past he’s been a passionate and idealistic, on account of his revenge in the name of Scary Mary. He also has changed quite a bit with his relationship with Bill. The threesome here is really wonderful writing because not only does it contrast their first meeting and killing of Ambrose Grey, but the addition of another, perhaps less trustworthy vampire allows Michael to get away with a little blood play that was most definitely against the rules. This leads Michael to the recognition that he’s now addicted to the bite, and consequently, if he and Damian (both who have good intentions) can lose track of themselves and make a mistake that the vampires who killed Scary Mary could possibly have done the same. Therefore, is his vigilante mission really for the better good after all, or is he making a mistake. It changes his whole perspective.

I think the second thing that I love so much about this story in particular is that the majority of the story is sex. It’s wonderfully hot, sexy, grimy, slutty sex to be sure :) But, there’s so much personal growth between the two during this story, and most of that was done during those scenes. Authors, take note, because if everyone used sex as a catalyst for growth as Jordan has done in this series (but this story in particular), then I and many others would be much happier readers.

Once again, this series gets better and better! There’s so much more to talk about. For short stories, or short novellas, they really hold a lot of content that’s obviously very much loved, cared for, and carefully considered. An A all the way!

Also, Jordan has included an Author’s Note in each of these new releases that I just love reading when I finish the story, so make sure to check those out!

About this Story
I suppose it’s hard to say whether to take what Michael says to Wild Bill as him being manipulative or honest when he suggests the threesome, and then quickly tells Bill to just forget about it. I think he’s probably being sincere, though. (Can we try this? No? Okay, never mind, not a big deal.) Bill is the one who can’t let go of it. It must be confusing to both of them to need to continually involve other people in their day-to-day sustenance in such an intimate way. I have no doubt their boundaries are always shifting and blurring.

In terms of the function their little romp with Damien fills for the storyline, first, it echoes the main characters’ initial encounter while providing lots of contrast with that first threesome. This one is from Wild Bill’s point of view, as opposed to the menage they had with Grey from Michael’s point of view. It’s an opportunity to see that Wild Bill is totally anxious about the whole thing, though he’s projecting a cool and confident “I’m totally in charge” vibe. Thinking back to Payback, we can then infer that he was probably freaking out ten times as much during that encounter, since Gray was so dangerous and Wild Bill utterly loathed him.

There’s also a wonderful shift Michael has afterward, when he’s thinking about the fact that both he and Damien promised, “Yes sir, no biting,” and then they forged ahead and did it anyway…and he wonders if maybe Scary Mary wasn’t savagely murdered after all, but in fact just the victim of a kinky tussle that went too far. The vamps involved were not necessary leering, slavering creatures of the night (like Gray) laughing wickedly as they made their escape. They could’ve been freshly-turned pacifists (like Damien) who came back to themselves after they shot their wads, blinking and stunned, thinking, “Oh my God, what just happened?”

Michael isn’t the only one who gets some good emotional mileage from the story. With Wild Bill, it’s actually more of a reveal than a development, though. He enjoys a full pint of blood during the fireworks and mentions that it hasn’t always been the case, that he usually stopped himself much sooner for fear of taking too much. Later, Damien questions him about how often he eats, and we get to see that he’s been a bastion of restraint this whole time. The chain-smoking and the dabbling with whiskey are as much about keeping his blood urges under control as they are a clinging to his past. And in a deeper reveal, when he does his half-assed Confession, we can see how much of his inner landscape revolves around guilt and regret.

This first book of the Sweet Oblivion series is the continuation of the Channeling Morpheus series: there are the same main characters, the vampire Wild Bill and the human Goth Michael, and they're still traveling the country in their van. They are also on a mission to educate people and vampires on how to prevent the transmission of vampirism.

In this book Wild Bill is the narrator and he is really Michael-smitten. The way he looks at him shows how much he is in love with Michael, he is so taken by him that he accepts Michael's idea of bringing another vampire in their bed.

Wild Bill is over-protective toward Michael, and I'm afraid he is almost losing his personality. He seems an unwilling passenger in Michael's journey to something no one knows yet (this time it was a sex experiment, but at the end of the book it hints at something far more sinister).

The short story doesn't communicate a cozy feeling, but there are still moments of revelation of Wild Bill's feelings and this is what makes it impossible for me to put these books down.

I can kinda see the point of what happens here - doesn't mean I like it. I am somewhat mollified because for the guys, it made them realize that they don't need anyone else but each other. Still...

Things are a-changing, especially as Michael reconsiders his mission in life, as well as his ever evolving new chemical makeup.

Love Bill's vulerability here as well… "I was a giant turning fork, and he was the note that had just bent up to meet my quivering harmonic."

Aside from an awkward threesome, I really like where JCP is going with his series in this 6th installment. Michael is something other than human, what that is I assume will be revealed in the rest of the series. But he is finding it impossible to come without being bitten.

Michael and Wild Bill are hot together, I just didn’t like the menage in the back of their dirty van. Maybe with the right person.

I love this series, regardless & I always chastise myself for waiting so long between books, especially since I have them all. This series should be read in order.

I absolutely love the alternating point of views in this series. I think it has played a huge part in my connecting with these characters. I really can't decide who I like hearing from more. First I think it is Wild Bill, then I read Michael and feel the same about him.

This time, we hear from Wild Bill. I love how their relationship continues to grow and evolve with each installment. Both of them also continue to make discoveries about themselves and their issues - Bill with his guilt and unhapiness with being a vamp; Michael with his questioning his hunting motives and his needs that are possibly a product of his vamp but not a vamp status.

I am hooked on this story and am eager to jump right into the next one.

Michael is trying to figure out what is happening in his relationship with Bill and within himself. Bill is trying to keep Michael safe and happy. I really felt for Bill in this one - he's so into Michael that he's willing to adjust his own preferences to make it work for Michael. But Michael is also struggling with a situation he never expected to be in.

I warned you, didn't I? I'm tearing through this series. You'll see, though, when you read it. Once you get started, they're impossible to put down. At least for me. Jordan Castillo Price knows her way around the gritty, the dark, the things that go bump in the night. She never pretties anything up. She leaves it just as it should be. Real. No holds barred.

It's July now and Michael has convinced Wild Bill that it's safer for him to take blood from donors via phlebotomy. One great thing about that? Wild Bill used to only take enough to ease his hunger pangs. Now he gets a whole pint a day because Michael assures him that a human adult can easily lose one pint and be fine. So now Wild Bill and Michael do the bloodletting together. And while they're doing that, they're educating the humans on not letting vamps drink straight from them. So all in all, it's like a public service. Yeah.

Michael suddenly shows an interest in a threesome and strangely enough, Wild Bill is for it, but, also not. He doesn't know where this desire of Michael's is truly coming from. Plus, inviting another male vamp to the party just brings up bad memories for Wild Bill of the night he was turned, and the night he and Michael killed Gray. They end up with Damien, who was a part of the vamp commune in Minnesota where Wild Bill stayed until Michael tracked him down. Damien doesn't exactly get on Michael's good side, at least not immediately, by comparing Michael to a Renfield. Michael really despises that comparison. After the deed is done, Michael is way too worried that he can't have sex anymore without wanting to be bitten. See what I mean? This author doesn't back away from the serious topics.

This was a more serious addition to the series, and that's saying a lot. It's true though, that Michael is changing, even though he has antibodies against becoming a full vampire. Michael is becoming something more than human, something that scares him sometimes, and Wild Bill too. These books simply keep getting better and better. Excellent job, Jordan!

My thoughts about it:
1) nice menage scene
2) still enjoying Mike and Wild Bill
3) still wish there are more plot and less sex

yes shoot me people... I know, it's an erotic short story series BUT I really wish more plot because (example) 40 or the 50 pages are the sex scene, and not plot development.

I can't take stars because of it. It's a erotic story, so obviously I KNOW there should be sex... but (again, sorry the repetition) even knowing it's erotic I was hoping it would have more plot.

Things that are missing from this story...
1) An actual reason for Michael's desire for the 3-way!
2) Sexual attraction between Michael, Bill and Damien!
3) Anything that resembled a purpose for this book!
I could probably list a few more, but I think I will just say that I was impressed by the "confessional" scene... it was by far the best scene of the story!

I am moving on with this series and sincerely hope that there aren't any more disappointments like this one... just sayin'!

I liked that Bill and Michael are trying different things in their relationship. Jealousy didn’t get a look in. I also like that Michael is becoming more like a vampire even though he is still human.

Man, these two are KILLING me! I want them to be happy so badly! As much as I've ever wished for a fictional character to be happy, I wish it for these two, but they seem just determined to not let themselves get there. And this is the first time I've wondered if at least one of them won't let the other be happy either.

So, I have a confession: (and this may be letting my nerd-flag fly a little too freely, but whatevs) in my head, Wild Bill frequently has the voice of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is something I have no control over and cannot stop, but it has at times amused me. In this book, though, the analogy just made me sad.

I have loved Michael and Wild Bill together so much (and gushed about it in my reviews >.<) in every other book, but this one made me wonder if perhaps they aren't good for each other after all. Bill's the narrator again, but from the moment the threesome is proposed, he seems very un-Bill-like. And him giving in to Michael's every demand just made Bill seem weak and Michael seem selfish.

This book was so hard for me to read, but I loved getting to know more about Wild Bill and feeling like I was starting to understand him better. Like the note at the end of the book says, it was fascinating getting to be in Bill's head for this threesome and to imagine based on that how much he must have been freaking out during their first.

Now, with trepidation I'm off to read the next one and hope that JCP can put these two back together again! Somehow...

Sweet Oblivion is the new continuing series in the adventures of goth boy Michael and his vampire lover Wild Bill. At the beginning of this relationship, Michael was the pursuer and Wild Bill the fugitive man: Michael young and naive was fascinated by Wild Bill, a vampire not so old for vampire standards, but old enough to hold a fascination on barely legal Michael. But Wild Bill knew that Michael was not the daring man he wanted to project, Michael was almost a child playing with his parents dresses.

With the growing of the relationship between Wild Bill and Michael, also the perception they have of each other is changing. Michael probably is starting to realize that Wild Bill is not some invincible creature, but that he is quite a normal "man", and as vampire, he is mourning his lost life; Wild Bill was turned when he was too young to be in mood to settle down and make a family, but probably now he wouldn't so against the idea; he is even trying to build a nest in the van they bought, giving an illusion of stability to their relationship. On the other hand Michael is exactly at that phase in which was Wild Bill when he was turned, young and eager to taste all what life could offer. Wild Bill is starting to realize that the young puppy he took off from the street is not a domestic pet, but a wild pup, and while growing, also his hunger is growing. The tables are turning and the maybe the "top" position is shifting from Wild Bill to Michael.

In this novella, Wild Bill and Michael experiment with having a third in their bed; and again it's Michael who leads the choice to whom invite in their bed, and it's Michael who, in the end, becomes the center of the playing; Damien, the third part, is almost a "mute" partner, no more than a sex toy used by Wild Bill and Michael. I'm true, I don't know if I like so much that an "odd man out" enters between Wild Bill and Michael, but truth be told, as I said, he is almost inexistent, I didn't feel nor from Wild Bill or Michael's side a bit of interest in opening their relationship more than only for a night of play.

Brazen is the first book in the Sweet Oblivion series, which in turn is a continuation of the Channeling Morpheus series: a collection of erotic horror stories starring a hot vampire who's much sweeter than he acts and a boy in eye liner who's much tougher than he looks.

We got another Wild Bill POV with this story and boy: do I love him! His cynicism and bluntness are a riot, his dry observations are dead on and hilarious. But what I like most about reading in Bill's POV is that we get to see just how much Michael means to him. Behind all that jadedness Wild Bill is not afraid to admit to his feelings. Michael is his everything and he will stop at nothing to make him happy.
And that's where the idea of the threesome comes in...

Honestly: I had issues with the threesome. Don't get me wrong: it was fun to read about. The sex scenes were both very awkward and hot -and Bill (who does enjoy himself) relays everything in a very entertaining manner.
It's just that: I didn't understand Micheal... Why? Why want a threesome? Why????

I know, I know: Michael has issues. But to me: he just crossed the line from obstinate to downright selfish. I do hope he redeems himself next book.

It wasn't quite what I expected. True, I didn't read the blurb, so it was anybody's guess what the installment would contain.

I appreciated the alternate pov from one story to the next but now I find it impairing as it's difficult to understand the characters' thoughts. I'd give this 2.5 stars. Not sure if I want to continue reading the series.

Okay, in general I avoid vampire stories. Not because I don't think they're hot, but because I rarely find one that is well written enough for me to give up reality. This was just incredible. Bill is a snarky, sweet vampire and his boyfriend Michael is beyond lovable. It's laugh out loud funny in places, incredibly hot and oddly sweet. Needless to say, I'm going back and starting at the beginning of the series with Payback

This is not my favorite of the Wild Bill and Michael stories. Not sure why really - except that I thought that whole Damian thing was just a bit distracting. I didn't get the motivation of Michael asking for a threesome. I love Wild Bill's voice in these stories - he's world-weary and snarky and obviously over the moon for Michael since he's basically willing to do whatever Michael asks for to keep him happy. I'll be interested to see what happens in the next installment.
