He was honoured with a D.Litt degree by university of Pune.

बदलत्या परिस्थितीच्या पुराबरोबर वाहत जावयाचे नाकारणाऱ्या एका झुंजार माणसाची ही कथा. या भाग्यवान देशात असे अनेक धोंडी इतस्तत: विखुरले आहेत. हे त्यांचे कौतुक त्यांनी वेळात वेळ काढून वाचावे, ही इच्छा. किंबहुना ही कथा त्यांच्यासाठीच लिहिलेली आहे.

Honour and Pride have become words of the past. They have been replaced by egotism. Pavnakathcha Dhondi deals with the sensitive subject of how the care taker of a fort takes pride even during a time when these titles hold no significance. The author aptly deals with Dhondi’s conflict with people and times and his sensitive fatherly relationship with his sister in law. Worth a read.
