When the last shadow warrior falls, so will all humanity.

Shadow Warriors, Book 2

A shadow warrior on a mission, Manuel must track down a demon who is sacrificing women marked with hummingbird tattoos. He is in danger of losing his humanity to his eagle spirit until he comes across Ixa Reyes, a beautiful San Diego detective working on the same case, who also bears the mark of the Aztec sun god. She is his salvation and redemption from a past filled with failure. Only she wants nothing to do with him or her heritage.

When a demon kidnaps her grandfather, the wind god, they must work together to save him and all mankind. Manuel has twenty-four hours to help Ixa control her elemental power over wind—that is if he can control his own desires to claim her body and soul. Because if he should fail this time, the god of war will usher in a new era filled with blood and destruction such as the world has never known.

Product Warnings
This story contains an ancient Aztec warrior struggling to control the beast within, a heroine more than able to match his strength, demons out for their very souls, and a battle that may very well determine the fate of all humanity.

After losing her father, mother and little sister to a fire when she was young, Ixa Reyes has made it her life's mission to serve and protect those who can not protect themselves. A few years ago Ixa put the man who murdered her family, behind bars for life...or so she thought.

Ixa finds herself at a crime scene of a woman who has been brutally murdered. The thing that disturbs her the most is that she had a nightmare the night before of this very woman being attacked. Visions of the poor woman's heart being ripped from her chest are still fresh in her mind. What's worse is that she and the woman share the mark of a humming bird tattoo. A tattoo that she never got from a shop. One that she was born with.

Manuel is a warrior sent from the gods to find out who is killing potential mates for his people. He is on the verge of losing his humanity to the eagle spirit that lives inside him. Manuel knows that he is only a few killings away from being nothing but a shell of who he used to be. All is changed, while at the crime scene of the latest woman baring the mark of the Huitzilopochtli, Manuel spots his mate, Ixa. She is everything he ever dreamed her to be. She commands the wind, but she has no clue how to control it.

The very heritage that Ixa has spent her entire life trying to deny is coming at her like a freaking freight train with Manuel as the driver. Her body and soul recognize him. Craves him so deeply. The problem is that Manuel insists that Ixa claims who she is and learns to embrace all that she has denied. Now, her abuelo has been kidnapped by the man who took her parents and sister from her all those years ago. Ixa has to learn to trust in her powers with the wind. It is time for her to focus on the visions given to her by the gods. Most of all, it is time for her to listen to her heart.

Shadow Visions is the second book in the Shadow Warriors series by Gabriella Hewitt. It is a wonderful original story that is refreshing to read. Ixa is spunky and funny, while Manuel is sexy and stern. A nice easy read that wraps up the story flawlessly. If you are looking for a book that has a story unlike any you have read but still gives you the happily ever after that we all want and love, this is the book for you.

Battling with the demons of her past, Ixa Reyes has done her best to put the deaths of her parents and her little sister behind her. She's blamed herself for their passing, wishing she could go back in time and save them from perishing. Yet she knows such a thing can never be. She lives with the pain and heartache of the ordeal every day and knows she'll never truly come to terms with the fact that they were taken from her at such an early age.

Determined to pick up the pieces of her life, Ixa has done everything within her power to make her grandfather proud. He loves her unconditionally and has been trying to help her nurture the powers she harbors inside. Ixa refuses to believe she's anything special and considers her visions to be a curse inflicted upon her by the Gods. Her father says otherwise, but she'll have none of it. Her powers are the cause of her family's demise and she'll have nothing to do with it, even if it surges to the surface unexpectedly, every now and then.

Ixa became a cop to deal with the need to bring down the man behind the destruction of her family. She's hell-bent on making him pay for what he's done and she'll never stop until she succeeds. When it becomes apparent he's no longer behind bars, Ixa knows she'll need to do everything she can in order to stop him from wreaking havoc upon her yet again. The question is, can she do it?

When two women bearing a tattoo of a hummingbird, the very same tattoo she herself bears, Ixa wonders if it's a coincidence. Galante soon appears before her, intent on finishing what he started so long ago. When an unexpected warrior intercedes, Ixa realizes there's more at stake than she ever knew. Drawn to the man in unexpected ways, she does her best to ignore her new-found feelings for him. Sadly, that's easier said than done.

When her grandfather disappears, Ixa has no other choice than to band together with the warrior. Her better sense prevails and she does her best to remain aloof while working with him to set all wrongs to right. Unfortunately, she can't deny the stirrings of her own heart. Racing against time to save humanity, Ixa discovers she possesses the ability to finally control the power brewing deep within her, a fact she's ignored for as long as she can remember. Finally accepting who she is, she vows to fulfill her destiny in order to save the world, and her grandfather, before its too late.

This was quite an awesome read. I enjoyed it immensely. The story pulls you in from the moment you begin reading, its action continuing consistently with every turn of the page. I think Gabriella did a wonderful job in creating a world surrounding the lore behind the Aztec gods. I can only imagine the extensive research that went into the story's creation. Beautifully crafted and nicely written, Shadow Visions is a quick and very intriguing read. I truly recommend it!

Overall Thoughts:
This fiery story was pretty easy to get through and had daring thrills to it!

Shadow Visions is about a tough woman named Ixa Reyes, who is also a hardcore detective. For years, she has been searching for the one man who took everything away from her when he brutally murdered her entire family: Galante. A few years back, Ixa succeeded in putting the man behind bars, but he manages to escape and comes back with a vengeance. He slaughters two young woman with one thing in common: A hummingbird tattoo. Ixa is his next victim. The two foes run into each other but it's no even match; Galante is not human, he's a demon. Luckily, Ixa is rescued when her hero swoops down and saves her... literally. Manuel Del Sol is his name, and it turns out that he is Ixa's spirit mate, as well as her new partner in this quest to put an end to Galante.

But Ixa Reyes is no ordinary human either, which she is painfully aware of but tries her hardest to hide. She is a direct descendant of the god of wind, meaning that she has control over the element of wind, but has no control of it. Manuel has a limited amount of time to help Ixa gain control over her element, as well as protect her from a mad man who wants her head, as well as... fall in love desperately with her.

What I liked about this book:
I really liked that it was jam-packed with action, literally from page 1 until it ended! Because there was always some kind of battle going on, whether it be between Manuel and Galante, or Ixa and Manuel, or Manuel and his sexual urges (Hehe...), I was never bored while reading this book.

What I disliked about this book:
I wished that the events in this book spanned out to a longer course of time. This book only went through a couple of days, and in that time span a lot of things occurred like Manuel and Ixa falling in love. A part of me understands why they fell so hard so fast, they're soul mates I get it, but also, two days?!

Verdict:
It was very fast paced, and exciting, and although the romance was a bit rushed, I still thought it was still pretty powerful and fierce!

This is my first book by this author and what an introduction! This is the second book in her Shadow Warriors series. I have not read the first book in this series but it did not hinder my enjoyment of this one. It is definitely a stand alone book. The author writes so vividly that you find yourself totally immersed in the world building, rich Aztec history, and the heart pulsing journey to stop demons from stealing souls.

The story itself reminds me of Christine Feehan's Carpathian Series in that you have a being who needs to find their soul mate/heart mate who can save them from losing their humanity. The hero, Manuel, is a 7 foot shadow warrior with wings created by the Sun God. He walks around in only a loin cloth. Yumm!! Ixa Reyes is the mate who is destined to save him. She is a tough dedicated cop with a unique tattoo and gifts that she valiantly tries to ignore. She is haunted by a traumatic past and chooses to ignore her gifts and teachings of her grandfather. When she meets Manuel he has more than her tattoo heating up.

I enjoyed this story because it was different than other paranormal stories. Instead of a vampire or wolf you are given a man with wings (and he is not an angel). I was totally captured by the events that happened and loved learning what Ixa gifts were.

This book is sure to satisfy those with appetites for a different spin on the paranormal genre, Aztec warrior, secrets, and heart pounding edge of your seat suspense.

This post is coming to you guys a little bit late in the day thanks to a storm that knocked out the electricity, and I am paranoid so I don't trust those planning post's. Knowing my luck it wouldn't post and I would be none the wiser.

So without further ado, welcome to this stop of the Shadow Vision's tour thanks as always for tuning in.

The first thing I want to say about this book is Wow!! I absolutely loved this book, it brought a refreshing change of pace from the ever growing popularity of angels, vampire's and werewolves. There has only been one other book that I have read that used Aztec mythology, and just like that book, this one was a home run.

Ixa, is one of those feminine character's that every girl wants to be, funny, smart, spunky, and when the heritage she has been trying to deny her entire life since her family was killed in a fire comes knocking on her door forcing her into a reunion and order's she accepts who she is, lets just say this steamy love/mystery heats up when Manuel enters the picture.

What's to happen when the heat is turned up in the kitchen? Well, I can't spoil it for you reader's, and this is one ending you don't want to miss.

Really enjoyed this second book in the Shadow Warriors series. I hadn't read the first book, but I was able to follow along without any problems, plus there were no annoying info dumps. My absolute favorite thing has to be the Aztec mythology behind the story, though. Love it! Really unusual, but lots of fun.

My only complaint would be that I felt that the heroine's acceptance of her abilities and relationship to the hoer seemed to ocurr suddenly after a lot of resistance (and she had really good reasons for that resistance. I also was a bit bothered when the hero calls her out on her resistance to her powers, because I didn't think he was really all that understanding of why she felt as she did.

That said, this was a fun ride. If you're looking for an unusual spin on the PNR shifter trope, this might do it for you.

The topic of this book hails from mythology and fantasy. A fast-paced story with lots of action, strong characters and a backbone of a story, this book will be enjoyed by those who love their tryst with fantastical/ mythical world.

Having not read the first book in the series, I did not feel I had missed out on anything but I reckon reading it first would be good.

Never having read about Shadow Warriors before, the concept and plot made for an innovative and interesting one.

The book makes for a short, easy read. I wish there was more of a mystery element to the book though. It is too short to be enjoyed much and not too much happens as per my liking.

Getting a little tired of vamps, weres and angels, but still want a paranormal aspect to your reading? Then this book is for you!

A fresh new breed of paranormal romance. Aztec gods and mythology. Ixa is a strong female lead, and I love strong female characters. Manuel is smexy! This is a well written story. I say story, because it only spans a few days and is 106 pages long. It is fast paced and loaded with action. A great villain that Ixa has a history with makes a great story. I would have liked it to be a bit more drawn out, but it didn't take away from the story.

I have not read the first book in this series, but didn't feel I was missing any back story or information.

Highly enjoyable book, reminded me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series a bit with warriors, and gods, and powers and such, so yeah, really enjoyed it!
