Watch out Montreal, things are heating up. When Bakkali insisted I take a month off to rest and regroup before joining The Guild of the Laurentians, I had my doubts. Being away from police work has been tough, so when an end of summer celebration takes a disastrous turn, I’m eager to unravel the mystery. One thing is for certain—something is in the water. With multiple fatalities, injuries, and missing persons, my siblings and I set out to uncover what happened at Clock Tower Beach. Merfolk, magical lore, mystical creatures, and sinister motives are all in the mix. Now, it’s time to wade through the sea of possibilities and uncover the truth. Who is meddling with the St. Lawrence, and how do we stop it? Jules brings you more elemental adventure in book four of the Chronicles of an Urban Elemental series, Trust Realized. About Auburn Tempest Auburn Tempest is a pen name for JL Madore, a multi-genre novelist giving life to Fantasy, Paranormal, and Sci-Fi Romance. Under the pen name, Auburn Tempest, she writes Urban Fantasy without the sexy-steamy. But whether Romance or not, she loves to twist Alpha heroes and kick-ass heroines into chaotic, hilarious, fast-paced, magical situations and make them really work for their happy endings.
She lives outside of Toronto, Canada with her love of over 35 years and a menagerie of family, friends, and animals.
“Lush” is perhaps the very best word for describing Auburn Tempest’s writing style. “Majestic” is almost certainly the best description of her characters. And her storytelling? Well, that’s simply off the charts. If you haven’t picked up any of her works yet, this is a great place to start. It’s not ideal, since it IS the 4th in a series, but it reads solid as a stand-alone intro to this universe.
Side note: Speaking of this universe, it’s nice to see some old favorites from other series popping in to say hello. I’m especially glad that a place for some “troublesome teenagers” (i.e. young dragons) has been found, since it always bothered me that the non-western dragons seem to always get left out or forgotten…. for the most part anyway. Of course, now I’m thinking Briar and Scarlett need to meet, sans maple syrup, of course. I had forgotten that little detail.
The tales of the Gagnes are truly fun and engaging. I’m loving their dynamic, so very different, yet so very tightly knit. These guys may actually dethrone the Cumhaill family from their current position amongst my other all-time favorites, although it’s more likely a tie. After all, Fi and Jules are both pretty competitive and have been known to throw an elbow or two. As a reader, you can’t go wrong with this series.
During Jules paid downtime, things have been quiet, Then, during a fireworks celebration, something in the water acts strangely creating a nearly deadly boating accident.
Jules, her quint siblings, and Tad join up as a new Laurentian guild Empowered policing team and are assigned to investigate that problem. Meanwhile, some information that Jules discovered about Gareth puts their relationship on rocky ground.
Footnote: 1) As stated before, this series takes place alongside its sister series ‘Chronicles of an Urban Druid’ so come of the characters of CoaUD show up to help when not taking care of things in Toronto.
2) The situation between Jules and Gareth about their relationship and family difficulties reminds me if the problems between Bella and Edward in Twilight. Predator and prey falling in love.
Fave scenes: the elementals rescue, Jules & Gareth visiting Rance, the fight in the alley and meeting the wyverns.
I'm not much into romance and the touchy Feely kind of stuff, but I find it easy to skim those bits in these books. The world and characters, plus action and adventure in them, make it well worth it. The MC grew a lot in the month she was forced to take off to actually train her abilities between the last book and this one, and it made a big difference. It is extremely similar to Fi and the Cumhaill clan's stories from the Urban Druid books, but with a whole different power set and species, so if you like those stories, I can't see you disliking these at all.
eight stars. Jules brings the rest of the Quints and friends into the new force as her team
Jules family and a few friends have joined her new team as part of the Elemental Force. But they are on probation. They have to solve the mystery of the rogue wave at the Fireworks last night. Jules and the rest of the quints were involved in saving most of the people that had been knocked into the water. She also had Gareths help and at the end they had dragons and another demon. Fantastic story stayed up all night to finish
Read it you will be happy you did if you like fantasy with those who are evil die but you are never quite sure they are gone for good. And the good people make you want to be their friends for life this is the book you have been looking for. Just make sure you read the library of books that come before this one. Check the Auburn list of what to read first. You are welcome enjoy.
It is always a pleasure to dive back into this world. Jules and her family have been working to find their way in this magical world and I love that they have finally taken the leap to join the enforcers for the guild.
I knew that the discovery of Gareth was going to truly scare Jules’ siblings but he truly is wanting to be better and I love that Jules is supporting him as she should be while keeping her loved ones safe. I have a feeling both of Gareth’s sisters will have to put down before this all ends though his brother may get to survive this entire ordeal.
Azlan leaving Charlie for the possibility of a magic elemental baby with a found fae shook me. I did not see that happening and I am willing to bet that it will not end well for all parties involved.
As always my heart soared when Fiona and Sloan showed up to help their friends. Fi is a comfort character of mine and she will always ignite a sense of family when she appears.

I absolutely love this series. It is a joy to read. Jules and the rest of the Gagne family tackle their first case as Laurentians.
When a mysterious wave interrupts human festivities Jules and Gareth must try to overcome sins of the past and bring their families together to save their realm
Character development is rich, plot twists, unexpected return of favorite s from Toronto group meshes completely. Only stumble is with Briar's gal---where did she come from? Possibly crossover from Mayhem? Don't recall. Enjoyed immensely and cannot WAIT for next!
Jules and her siblings are working together on Jules' new assignment and if they do good they will officially become a team. They are up against a mystery and an Unseelie prince who is causing a lot of problems for the mermaids. I love any series by Auburn Tempest and the books always get moved to the top of my TBR list.
Auburn and Michael have done it again. With the 4th book being as riveting as the rest of their books. Looking forward to book 5 and i strongly recommend you guys look into the other books auburn has. You wont be disappointed. Many Thanks to the authorsfor their hard work!
I have enjoyed all of the books that I have read in this series. Well developed characters with interesting interactions with their companions and their antagonists propel the story along. There is plenty of action and humor and I will look forward to reading the next book in the series
Congratulations to Auburn Tempest and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and e,xciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
Love the combination or insertion of the Toronto team! Wonderful story Plenty of good guys to fight the bad guys The addition of a smart quirky scientist adds a slightly different slant Of course the romance with possibly questionable characters makes everything exciting
I couldn’t stop turning the pages and stayed up much later than intended. I have come to love this quint almost as much as Fiona and the gang, so I was well chuffed with this story. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Read it, you’ll love it.
Now how do you make it better? I can’t wait to see! Thank you for your world and thank you for your characters/people/beings??? I’m just grateful you shared it! Thanks again Jeff Howell
The books are a great continuation of the Urban Druid series. Hope there are more of both of the series. Can't wait for September and more on the Elemental - and the Druids, also
I have enjoyed reading all the books in this series. Each one gets better than the last! The story immerses you from the very beginning. Can’t wait for the next…
Another winner! I really love this collaboration and all the "Urban" series! It is so excellent that the druid characters are being pulled into the elemental books. I just can't wait for more, though the glacial pace of Jules and Gareth's relationship is a bit annoying.
I loved this book! Auburn Tempest is a phenomenal writer - the humour, the family dynamics, the action, the fun of each book. This series is playing out superbly and it is always good to see the crossovers from Team Trouble.
Oh this series! If anyone had told me a year ago that I would be…
I was never into this genre before! I am overjoyed with the journey of this series and can’t wait for Book 5! Well, I have no choice but September seems really far off! I tried not reading this too fast but failed!
Really enjoyed seeing Fi & friends play a role in this book. Good to see Jules growing into her powers & develop as a leader. Interesting to see her choice of battle companions & how that works out! And dragons are always fun! My favorite book in the series so far!
I love the urban Druid series and love the Tyan with the urban elemental series. The characters are fresh very detailed very realized. I highly advised you to read the series all of them.
The action packed ending to the battle with the Unselie prince wasn’t the only progression in this book. Besides proving their competence with the Guild of Laurenthians for the quintet of elementals there is a definite hint of romance to come. 👍👍👍💜
This book was the most mind boggling of the series so far for me. The bad guys who become allies, the innocents who are actually enemies definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Read the Druid series first there are two about Fiona and her family.
Excellent story. Great characters. A book/series that you’ll stay up to read. Love the characters from another series brought in to interact with this new group.
