Scarlet Hyacinth was born in 1986, in a Romania still struggling under the weight of the communist regime. As a young girl, she started studying the English language and fell in love with books. After a childhood spent devouring hundreds of pages of fantasy literature, Scarlet found her calling. While at uni, she discovered with the help of a dear friend that she had a knack for writing. The rest, as they say, is history, or rather, lots of hard work and sleepless nights. Today, she can only say with a smile that nothing is impossible and that no matter what others say, you can achieve your dreams if you work hard enough.
I must say, the story of the second generation is so much better than their parents. There is manageable angst in this one not the tearjerker that was Carson/Brody or Nico/garret. Playboy Corbin falls hard for prim and proper heir to the Sidhe throne Winter. This series also introduces future mate pairings like Isaac and believe it or not baby Shea Cunnigham McKenna's potential one. I can't wait for those pairings.
Sadly I'm still scan/skip reading the sex scenes which occur too frequently, the plot continues well, I would now love to hear more about . Unfortunately I found it really hard to warm to Corbin and Winter. Also why does everyone fall pregnant so quick? And why do the women mostly need to be evil or killed off if they're not?
Mm, a reliable series. This was nice and well-written, as usual, with likeable protagonists, although I have to wonder at how relatively simply this great big, looming danger could be resolved in the end. And yeah, with this we get another male pregnancy. Of course! :P
Actually I don’t think it’ll let up soon with those. Let’s see. It seems as though one of the protagonists for the next book might be able to conceive, and .
Ah, but I don’t care right now. Let’s move on to the next book. :3
The story was good but I have to say Corbin isn't my most favorite character so my rating may be a bit bias ¬_¬ I think I've been overthinking too much while reading the story since it seemed/was implied that everything could have been avoided if Winter wasn't sent to help the shifters (err...well the Cunninghams). His life wouldn't have been endangered and his uncle wouldn't have to have plotted a way to kidnap Shea. Also there the way the author tried to chronicle/timeline it was a bit confusing. There was also a mistake in which Alexis name was used in place of Winter's.
This is one of my top favorites in the series so far! I love how complex this world has become, and I really do adore this second generation of shifters and magical beings all together. I really enjoyed reading Winter and Corbin's relationship and interaction, I thought it was very sweet. And I hoping? thinking? that we're starting to see a future generation to come of new characters and pairings. All in all, this is one of my favorite series from this author, it keeps getting better and better! Can't wait for more!
I loved this book!! I love the direction with other paranormal creatures and it was fascinating to get a closer look at the players in that world. I can't wait for the future books and from the way the series is going, it looks like we're gonna see 3 generations of mates!! And I'm putting my money on Sterling for Shea. Can't wait! Great job Scarlet!
Just like the last 8 books. Only different. Sigh. At least Winter is only mostly feminised, which is an improvement over some previous characters. There's a real plot lurking in here... somewhere.
