The Cusp of Libra

Rate this book
Shayla is having a bad day. A bad turn leaves her car broken, and her stranded on a deserted mountain road. That is, until Aiden and Liam happen by, in a tow truck to save her. The bad news: Shayla must spend the night in the small town while her car is repaired. The good news: She gets to spend the night with two of the sexiest men she's ever met. Throw in some some oil, and a massage by a bonfire, leading to some far more enjoyable activities, and Shayla's bad day may just turn into a fantastic night.

Ellison James crafts stories of fantasy, urban fantasy, erotica, and everything in between. Born in the Northwestern part of the United States, now living in the Southeast, Ellison James uses a lifetime of living throughout the world as backdrops for stories that usually start in the real world, and then make a quick departure into believable worlds of the fantastic.

"I like to play with perceptions, stretch the boundaries of believability by making Monsters, Demons, Elves and Faeries seem like normal everyday folks that just happen to do extraordinary things."

The work of Ellison James is often erotic but never smutty, depicting this facet of life like it really is, and from all points of view.

Bad luck and stupidity are a bad combination and Shayla Jordan had both. With the blessings of fortune she survived a blow out on a dangerous road and like magic a tow truck appears. Anyone with an active brain would instantly start figuring the odds. When the car is brought to a garage with its flat tire in the small hamlet of Ophir, the local mechanic doesn’t spare a glance for the tire and instantly checks under the hood. After a visional check of the automobile in general he declares that the radiator has a leak and she would have to stay the night.
The Gaelic celebration of Wicca takes place on the day that night and day is in balance (night and day are both twelve hours long). The cusp of Libra is the time in transition between Virgo and Libra. The way this celebration unfolds is worth reading. I wouldn’t be opposed to exchange this celebration for that of Halloween (as my costume prancing and candy eating days are long behind me).
This story is based on an interesting premise but would have been markedly improved if the author would have taken more time and effort in establishing the characters and plot. A street-smarter Shayla would also have worked wonders in improving this tale of midnight bliss.

√This read was short, sexy and strange, with the story taking the reader on a journey through several naughty erotic themes. There was masturbation and fantasy, a bit of the occult, a dash of taboo, exhibitionisim, voyeurism and m/f/m menage. While not boring, it was a bit convoluted and the whole point of the story was lost on me...A new divorcee finds freedom in the form of orgasms at the hands (among other body parts) of two brothers in an ancient Wiccan ritual in front of a robed crowd while their mother urges them on? While not a traditional therapeutic approach, I can see that becoming a more widespread treatment idea taking place in the land of nowhere in the year of never.

Got a lot better the second half. There were a few run-on sentences and grammar errors, but other then that wasn't too bad. Wasn't actually pretty sexy towards the end. I'm now quite curious to read her other books.

Found this while searching for free pagan stories. And while they did celebrate Mabon (in a way) it was not exactly what I was expecting ;-) Okay, but a little far removed from reality for my taste.
