Foreword by Walt Henrichsen (excerpt): Christianity is a religion of rescue, designed for the desperate. Just as an awareness of one's depravity is essential for holiness, so too a feeling of desperation, manifested in perpetual brokenness and dependence, is the heart of the believer's life in Christ. As I matured in Christ there began the thought that some day I would like to write a daily devotional on what it means to be a follower of our Lord... My objective from the start has been to help people think biblically. Solomon says, "As a man thinks, so is he." All permanent change takes place by altering how a person perceives reality. We may not know if all see the same color when looking at a red object, but we do know that as people of the Book, our objective is to see things as God sees them, as they truly are. How does one accomplish this task? The only way I know is through Scripture. The objective of the follower of Christ is to endeavor to filter the input of life through the grid of the Bible rather than filtering the Bible through his grid (and by such process confirming his own presuppositions and prejudices.) In a small, modest way, I seek to facilitate this positive process in the pages of this book. I am not so arrogant as to suppose that I see Truth in a perfectly clear fashion, but I do suggest that the concepts found on these pages ought to influence how we evaluate our sojourn with Christ. To that end I dedicate this work. I pray that it will be of some small help to you, resulting in the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I haven't read every page of this but it's a great daily devotional. Great challenges on how to live a better life, be the people we're supposed to be, and what Jesus and his contemporaries would want us to do in the modern world. Definitely worth checking out.
