As a fan of Lusty, Texas I’ve been waiting for Ginny Rose’s story since she first appeared in Love Under Two Benedicts. While you can read each of the books in this series individually, I really feel you’ll be lost if you don’t start at the beginning and move forward especially with Ginny’s story. Ginny was in an abusive and dangerous relationship putting both herself and her son at risk. Feeling she had no other choice, she decided to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her son from a man who made it clear he didn’t want him around. Thankfully she was able to get away from him and was rescued by some of Lusty’s residents including Sheriff Adam Kendall. That’s where Ginny’s story begins and Adam’s interest starts. Problem is Adam knows he and his brother Jake will have a tough time convincing Ginny to trust them or anyone again. From that book on, we see glimpses of Ginny, her son Benny, and their interactions with Adam and Jake and know this will be a story like no other.
Adam and Jake are brothers and part of a large and loving family who’s ancestors founded Lusty, Texas years and years ago. Lusty was founded by people who wanted to be able to live in ménage relationships without fear of repercussion.
Ginny is a single Mom who was raised in a one parent household with a mother who didn’t want her around. She got pregnant at a young age and then dumped. She then found herself involved with a very controlling and abusive man. She’s been beaten down her whole life and once she’s safely ensconced in Lusty she starts to recover and come into her own. She’s never had people she could count on until now and just as she’s starting to feel safe her abusive ex escapes from prison turning her world upside down.
Adam and Jake set out to find Ginny’s ex-boyfriend and have him returned to prison. Ginny fearing for her and Benny’s safety decides to go and see a long lost aunt in New Jersey. She is helped by Adam and Jake’s Mom and Grandmother again proving to her that she is no longer alone. Once Adam and Jake realize she’s gone they go after her and show her that she means more to them than revenge on her ex or anything else. Because she has been abused in the past, Adam and Jake know they have to take things slow. They truly realize the gift Ginny gives them when she opens her heart and her arms to them and believe me these guys do everything to make her know she is the only one for them.
Once back in Lusty, Adam and Jake set out to bring in her ex and his loser friend. Ginny heads back to work realizing how much stronger she feels back “home”. Ginny ends up taking care of a potential dangerous situation (unbeknownst to her with back up from the women of Lusty). Adam and Jake can’t believe what she’s done and while they manage to hold their tempers there are some truly humorous scenes as Ginny starts to truly assert herself.
Love Under Two Kendalls is a great installment in the Lusty, Texas collection from Cara Covington. You can’t help but love the heroes in this book and watching Ginny grow and change as a woman has been fascinating. I will admit, even though I have read every single one of these books I’m finding it harder and harder to keep everyone straight as more and more family members are introduced. A family tree at the back of these books would be a HUGE help! The Kendall, Benedict, and Jessop families are fun to read about and I highly recommend this story and the entire series to anyone who enjoys reading ménage stories.
4.25 out of 5. Morgan Ashbury writing as Cara Covington has given us another look into the community called Lusty, Texas, complete with personalities and characters that are, in spite of their extreme wealth, down to earth and practical as an apron in the kitchen. Full of fun dialogue and repartee, I best liked the strong women who know how to be who they are, are able to sustain relationships with Alpha men who would rule the world if they could and yet are delighted to be in families with these sassy women. The mothers of the Kendall, Benedict, and Jessop men are the very best, and perhaps the most fascinating character that maintains a presence throughout all the novels in this series is the matriarch of the family, Grandma Kate, a woman who knows how to move heaven and earth, and who has successfully predicted every love relationship that has developed so far. Also this novel deals with the healing of our heroine, Ginny Rose, and acceptance of herself as a strong and independent woman. Beaten up and beaten down but unscrupulous, selfish, and self-serving men in her past, she has found her niche in this little town and certainly in the hearts of the town sheriff and his brother, both of whom know that if Ginny won't have them then they will go without anyone else. It is an intense love story that is spiced up with the tension of a stalking predator abuser who has escaped from prison. Now Ginny must find it within herself to determine whether she will be a victim or the strong and beautiful person she knows she can be. Add in the layers of family loyalty and deep, supportive friendship that wanders throughout this story, and you have a very satisfying and entertaining read.
This review was originally posted on Blushing ReadsTime to head back to Lusty, Texas and see what is going on! You will remember that last time I told you how much I enjoyed getting a small glance at the relationship that was budding between Ginny Rose and brothers Adam and Jake Kendall? Well now they get their story told in Love Under Two Kendalls and what a story it is. My Thoughts Oh Ginny, Ginny, Ginny! I don't know if I could have held out as long as she did! Adam is the Sheriff in town and Jake is a lawyer, both of whom know about Ginny's past. Adam had to take photos of the damage done to her by her last boyfriend not to mention that they both love her son Benny. When that crazy ex of hers come back Ginny heads to her aunt's in an effort to keep herself and Benny safe. Adam and Jake don't like that at all and they head to where she is knowing they can keep her safe.
The relationship that builds is so sweet because poor Ginny is so scared due to her past mistakes and both men have been so patient. Then of course there is Benny who has simply stolen the hearts of everyone in town. He simply gives his little heart to the people of Lusty and he trusts that they will love him in return. No questions asked,no hangups. If only grown-ups could do that. I love when the bad finally comes for her and Ginny decides enough is enough! Her excuse to Adam and Jake after it is all said and done is "I just got so mad." That little line will be used in later books. We also get introduced to Ginny's Aunt Maggie who meets some Lusty men of her own!
*** I love Cara Covington's Lusty, Texas tales in this series.I've read them all, so there is no turning back. Each one is different, each new set of people meld into the town that is full of awesome characters. The history of the town is fascinating and the men and women take life and live to the fullest. Adam, our Sheriff and his brother Jake Kendall have their eye on Ginny and her young son. When Ginny's ex, Deke shows up, with the intent to kill Ginny and her son, things get wild. She will not be taking this guys crap anymore. She doesn't want anything to happen to anyone in town. She knows she doesn't want anything to take away the peace and love she's found with Adam and Jake. Once again, they prove to us that no one messes with their town. The story is suspenseful, the series is interesting and addicting. The characters are deeply thoughtful, sexy and romantic. The threesome figure out the best way to make this work. The guys are so devoted and romantic, yet super alphas. Kate weaves her magic once again as she succeeds in her match-making. We always want more ! I've read the whole series, love this author's writing, and fabulous characters! ENJOY !!
It never takes me this long to read a romance novel, but it's taking longer and longer for me to get through Lusty, Texas. This is the ninth book in a row I've read from this series and it's starting to wear on me. The men in each story are starting to blend together, and there's so many relatives that I can't tell who's related to who anymore. It's like a family tree that hasn't forked in a century. They've got to latch on to any strange women who wander through town because if they don't, there will be two-headed babies.
To be fair, I don't have any true complaints about the book. I just can't escape the feeling that I've read this before. Okay, wait. That's not true. Two complaints: Ginnny Rose is just too country for me. There were one too many "boy howdys" coming from her. The other complaint: she and her son were both referred to by their first and last names, much like Charlie Brown from the Peanuts comics. Why? I thought Rose was her middle name until I saw that her son was called Benny Rose. Again, why? Yes, I know I'm picking but this is my review. I do what I want.
I have been waiting for this book for quite a long time. Since Ginny and Benny first showed up I have been intrigued by them and loved how the town of Lusty adopted them as their own. I also really enjoyed, first Adam, then Jake slowly and very carefully woo Ginny. With what happened to Ginny in book #3 that was the right track to take with Ginny. I really loved how Adam and Jake not only did what they could to get Ginny comfortable with them, but they knew that Benny would need to be won over too, because Ginny, like the boys, was a two for 1 deal.
I really liked how this relationship progressed, loved that both Adam and Jake's mother was right there to help Ginny when she needed it and that Ginny's aunt welcomed her into her life. I wondered if Ginny's aunt would be able to accept the "Lusty" way of life, but when she saw how the boys treated Ginny, well any doubt went out the window. It's a good thing too because it looks like Grandma Kate is working her magic again with Aunt Maggie and some of her kin. Should be interesting how that works out.
Ginny Rose had lost hope when she had found herself immersed in an abusive relationship and her child at risk. Doing what she had to do, she made the ultimate sacrifice to save him. Now months later all her efforts are rewarded with two caring men who have made her and her son their highest priority.
Adam and Jake Kendall have been going slow trying to win Ginny's heart, the time has finally come where Ginny is ready to accept them and they can't wait. When Ginny's ex escapes from prison, it puts a huge hurdle in their way wanting only to protect her from her newest threat.
I have been waiting for Ginny Roses story for awhile and this certainly everything I had hoped for. Adam and Jake try to keep their tempers in check, but they struggle sometimes when Ginny has a mind of her own, which leaves readers with a few chuckles. This story also opens the chapter for a story for the triplets, should be fun.
I absolutely loved this storyline, watching Ginny for the last several stories grow into herself and find her own worth. And the sweet precious little Benny. This storyline reminds ou that there is so much violence out there and that no one should be bullied or abused by anyone. This was a very strong 4.5 stars.
I'd been looking forward to reading this story since Ginny was introduced a few books back and it was not a disappointment. It has been so great to watch Ginny recover her sense of self and how the progression allowed her to take on Jake and Adam together. Very enjoyable.
I really liked this book, especially since I had enjoyed watching the character of Ginny progress in the prior books. And it is so good to watch her come into her own.
