I got this book as a giveaway from Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics to read and review. Okay, so I started off liking Elyse-a sweet girl who cares for her mother and even loves her bitter sister. By the end of the book, she had become someone else. Yes, I know living for hundreds of years can make you bitter but she disappointed me. Galen and Dantha came off as a too horny couple, rather than the sweet love birds I thought them to be. Also, the book was too short and the events seemed hurried. The parts about the fae were interesting, though. Cade and Lilith fit together perfectly and their reaction to the unnatural attraction between them was very practical. The superstitious atmosphere of the place felt very real and I also loved the ending.

Initially, this book seems promising from the first couple of pages. Could it be, a book not solely focused on one young, horny woman but a nice couple exploring lands together?

Oh no. Should really read those blurbs...

It isn't terrible written, just a bit weirdly written. The thesaurus should have been put down. The main thing, aside from the Mary Sue protagonist and obvious love interests, is the ridiculous plot and total butchery of England done by the author. The Severn "Sea"? What even.

The author asks the reader that they indulge in her liberties at the beginning, but sadly when one cannot even get geography remotely correct, these liberties are simply laughable.

And the speed with which the main characters gets over her break up to a man she is madly in "forever love" with and jump on to the next man that breathes is preposterous.

Generic YA twaddle. You'll love it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! It is a very unique twist on the fairy tale. It is the story of Lilith Evergreen who is living a life that she believes she is enjoying but really she is just going through the motions. When life decides to shake things up for her, she finds herself in a real life fairy tale, full of magic, fairies and even a prince charming. But don't let that fool you, it is not that simple. Like most fairy-tales, there are a couple of conflicts before she gets her happily ever after.

I loved a lot of things about this story. I loved the setting. LK's details painted a beautiful picture of the village and made a place I would love to see. The characters were easy to love. I do wish she would have given them a little more depth. I would have like to gotten to know them a little better. The main plot of the story was unlike anything I have ever read. It was a very distinctive idea that the author used to bring the past and the present together. I truly adored this story. It was a captivating and gratifying read. I am so glad I have discovered this author!

Enchanting!!!! What a truly wonderful tale, an adult fairy tale...

I loved Lilith, I loved how she was compelled by dreams to visit a place that she had discovered existed and I loved her imagination.

A fairy tale usually holds a sadness, a sadness that should turn out to be a happy ever after and this story was no exception. The twists and turns of events had me hoping that things would turn out well and I was also quite surprised at the slight misleading Marion, whom I thought was going to spoil the happy ever after!!!

I truly loved Cade and the fact he was no 'Prince Charming' in the looks department, I loved his confidence and chivalry, but not as much as Lileth did, obviously!

I feel this story would go down well with fairy tale lovers and the fae... fae being the surprising element! It was short, fun and wonderful to read, I loved it!!

It's not 'cause I am obliged, but I would really like to thank R2R and the author for giving me a copy of this book. I absolutely enjoyed it.
If I should use only one word to express what I think about this book, it would probably be

Cat finds that excellent... Pictures, Images and Photos

Yeah, that's the word..and the expression.
I am not much into fairy stories, but I was really captivated by this one. I guess it's all due to L.K.'s great talent in leading the story from past to present, creating a story within the story.

"Silver and gold find you
Silver and gold bind you
Serve not desire, but enhance delight
All will be well, all will be right"

Don't you just LOVE these words? It's freakin' poetry!!!

For all you fairy lovers (and those that are like me, not that much into fairies) L.K. has a great story to tell. Story about the past and the present, story about Gods and fairies, story about lovers separated from each other for centuries.
Lilith Evergreen just got dumped by her boyfriend. She decides to leave home for a vacation, but ends up running toward her destiny instead. Connecting the past and the present, Lilith and Diantha, Cade and Galen, the story will take you on an enchanted journey to a world where everything is possible...
Welcome to Dumnos, a magical fairyland.

I really enjoyed Give Me, A Fairy Tale. It had all the entertaining elements of a great fantasy with witches, spells, and castles. The story grabbed me from the beginning with a twist I had not expected so soon between Lilith and her boyfriend which really got the ball rolling sending Lilith off on a fantasy vacation into a place far far away from her home in California and into the reality of her dreams.

The history drew me in of The Wyrding Witch and the God Aeolios who demanded she hand over one of her daughters for him to wed or pay the consequences. She refused him of course and had to perform a powerful spell to protect her daughters from him that damaged and weakened her heart.

Although this was a terrific fairy tale I still feel it was a bit rushed in places. I would have liked to have gotten to know more about a few of the characters. I wanted to spend more time with Elyse before everything went to Hades in her life and even afterward as she struggled with the things she had done. I hated seeing her as a bad person. My heart went out to her because no matter what her good intentions were nothing ever seemed to go as she planned.

My only regret is the story was not longer! I hated for it to end!

I think I'm in love...Yes, this hardened feminist shell that I wrap around me like a coat-of-arms melted as I read this delightful piece of pure romance. GIVE ME, A FAIRY TALE literally gave me wings and sent me soaring above the clouds. Oh, cheesy sentiment but I can't help it! This tale oozed love, sticky with romance-honey!

Our sweet and used heroine, Lilith, had literally hit rock bottom. She slammed her entire face into it head first and it left her a bit dizzy. Her would-be fiancé ditched her like she was yesterday's trash in order to "upgrade" to a newer model. He actually used the words, "I need to marry into a better family". Ugh! I wanted to leap onto the pages and smack him silly! She had cared for him, paid for his schooling, and when his trust fund was returned to him, he dropped her. He was only using her. But Lilith was a resilient woman and she wouldn't let the betrayal control her life! Instead, she allowed a ghost to take the wheel! Unknowingly, of course...

Cabe, AKA, Galen and several other names and titles, fell madly in love with Lilith. They had a bond, that much was certain, but what the bond was, he couldn't explain. There was only one person, or witch, who could! Her name was Elyse and for a thousand years she had been trying to end a horrific curse caused by her and her sister, Lourdes.

Lilith and Cade have to break the spell or be forever possessed by the wronged spirits!

The plot was thicker than glue and it glued my eyes to the screen! I read this in one sitting! I had to! Oh, the twists and turns! I adored the suspense and the strange quirks associated with the fairies and the witches. As convoluted as the premise was, the writing was so clear and concise that I understood each mystery perfectly! I wasn't confused. Instead, I was enthralled. I think the witches in this story put a spell on me! I can't wait to read more by L.K. Rigel!

For such a short story (although that term is a bit deceiving here) this book packed quite a lot of information in it. I love that. There are scenes from the past, memories, dreams, other planes, and the present. It’s a lot to keep up with, but the author did a beautiful job and you don’t get lost trying to keep up.

This is a love story, and there are so many triangles and loops, its hard to tell where one heart begins and another ends. I am secretly hoping this is going to be a prequel to a more extensive series, I would love to learn more about Lilith and her lineage. Or perhaps something about her mother, or Aubrey.

Lilith is the central character in this story. Her heart has just been broken by her jerk boyfriend. I am willing to bet everyone who reads this will want to pummel that guy!!! Right then I was hoping she was some witch and would just obliterate him! Instead she feels compelled to take a trip to Dumnos Village, a location she sees in a brochure that she drug out of the trash of all places. But she’s drawn to it, and makes plans to go immediately.

I love all the little hidden things in this book. Like her ex’s new girlfriend’s name was Sarumen, same as the company he worked for. I’m very curious to know how that plays into the story since that was a rival kingdom to Dumnos.

If you are looking for witches, fairies, royalty, mystery, catty French girls, and a bit of lusty love – then this book is for you. I feel it was well written and easy to follow. The characters were interesting and multidimensional. The landscape was rich and full of history. I really can’t say anything bad about this book at all, except for the fact that it wasn’t longer!

Review:
I really wanted to enjoy this book as the description really apealed. Lilith and Cade are likeable characters, but there was so much switching between this couple and Diantha and Galen that I got really confused. The magical fairyland of Dumnos worked better, but I found the intricacies all too much. I think this story would work better over two books, with the back story of Galen and Diantha, Elyse, Idris, Lourdes, Igdrasil and Aubrey being the first.

I simply loved this book. I loved it so much that after I read it on ebook, I had to have it in paper back form. So many "adult fairy tales" are simply retelling of stories we already know with some foul language and sex thrown in to make it for adults. This tale, however, is refreshingly different and sucks you in from the very beginning. The characters were well written and the story cast a spell on me. I could not put it down. I have become a "book release date" stalker, checking here FB often with hopes that the release date has changed and it is ready now :)..
I am a huge fan of Rigel. I think the thing that amazes me most about her is that I can read her fairy tale and be amazed, then I can read her historical family saga and be amazed and then I can read a contemporary piece and be just as enthralled.

I finished the book, and still can't decide if it was good ... so I guess it wasn't. There were parts that I really enjoyed, but I guess there was too much sensuality where I was looking for fairy magic. I finished the book and didn't even wait a breath before I archived it off my kindle. Can't say that I hated it, because I liked certain aspects - but I couldn't recommend it to anyone :-(

Rarely does such a short story impress me as much as Give Me, A Tale of Wyrd and Fae did. I mean, you'd think at about 120 pages (an ebook equal to), there wouldn't be much to it - NOT TRUE! This story runs deeper than you may think. It has a little of everything: romance, magic, lust, mystery, secrets, betrayal, etc.

Let's begin with some betrayal.

Lilith is all set to begin her life with her boyfriend Greg. In the beginning of the book, she goes to meet him for dinner expecting a marriage proposal. You see, she found a receipt for a massive Tiffany's engagement ring. She's ready for the bombshell! Only, she finds Greg waiting at the bar & he doesn't seem to be on the precipice of a proposal. Instead, he informs her he's kicking her to the curb.

Heartbroken, Lilith decides she needs to get away. She's been having some strange dreams as of late, and after discovering the very place she's been dreaming of rendered in a travel pamphlet - she decides to go there. When she calls to make a reservation, it turns out one has already been made for her by someone unknown to her, named Elyse. Only, she told no one she was going. Yeah, weird much?

Tintagos (where a lot more is going on than meets the eye) is where Lilith meets Cade, Lord Tintagos. Although Lilith just had her heart pummeled, she can't deny the immense feelings that wind through her when Cade is near. They both realize they have a deep bond, a bond that can't be explained by either of them.

Turns out, Cade and Lilith are being possessed by the spirits of two wronged lovers from the past. For this to stop, an age-old spell must be broken, and Elyse holds the answers they seek.

... And that's not even the tip of this giant iceberg of a plot line. You just have to read it.

As I was reading, I felt as if I was literally there. The author painted a delightfully magical picture. It swept me away to another world. The character development was wonderful (which is no small feat in such a short book). I felt a connection with all of them, and wanted to know what the future had in store for them.

There are so many elements to this story. Witches, fairies, magic gone wrong, love that's lasted a millennium!

My only complaint is the constant switching of past/present, and different POVs. I found myself confused on more than one occasion. It didn't change the impact of the story, but POV switching (without making it clear enough, soon enough, that it's changed) is a peeve of mine. :P

If you want a quick, magical read - this is your book. It took me just a couple hours to read and it was well worth that and some. I am definitely going to be reading some more work from L.K. Rigel!

Also, I feel I must praise the beautiful cover! How gorgeous is it? ♥

Overall this wasn't too bad of a read. At times though I was a little confused. It did go back and forth between the past and the present. By the end though I had everyone figured out. Which was nice. Everything worked out in the end and everyone was happy so that was good. There are more stories in this world so I will have to check them out sometime.

Give Me, A Fairytale was an interesting read. I loved the synopsis and couldn’t wait to get stuck into it. However, I had to read prologue a few times, as the somewhat obscure names (Igdrasil, Aeolios, wyrding) rendered the text a little difficult to understand after a first read. Still, I suppose the names were needed, due to the era. Anyway, moving swiftly on.
I was immediately sucked into the engaging narrative. Lily is a likeable character from the outset. I really felt I could identify with her. She’s unassuming, but has an opinion, and is considerate and honest. Her feelings for Greg (her first boyfriend) were authentic and the author cleverly sets up Greg’s betrayal without giving much away.
I love the paranormal romance genre and this book is a good read. There were a few instances where I thought points could have been expanded upon (ie when Lily was mysteriously booked into a hotel in England without booking it herself). If someone had booked me into a hotel and I found out about it later, I would have made a bigger deal out of it (but then again, my mind does work overtime). Still, this was just a teeny, tiny gripe.
Cade as the love interest is brilliant; super hot, thoughtful and I wish he existed in real life! I don’t want to give too much away, except to say that the ending had a nice twist and not what I was expecting. Not many authors can achieve this without making it obvious, yet the author’s hypnotic text made this possible.
I love the author’s attention to key plot points too. For example, electricity / wifi doesn’t work in the magical country, which accentuates the story’s supernatural element. Magic is a part of the text from the outset and I loved that. The author successfully weaves a paranormal tale expertly and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Let me started by saying I love the cover of the book. The book was very different and confusing. It switched characters and plots constantly. In the beginning the mother, Frona (Top Witch) changed the element of iron. She angered the god, Aeolios. He wanted one of her daughters as payment and she refused. She needed protection from him so she turned to another god. They all want payment which she did not have so they took life. The mother became sick. Lourdes, falls in Love with the king's son, Galen. The king makes a pact between another country who wants war because of the iron. The pact is to marry off their children, Galen and Dantha and unite the kingdom. The beautiful daughter, Lourdes goes crazy!!! The family of witches began to feud. The mother starts to die. She tells her younger daughter, Elyse that her father is fae. Frona dies and Elyse becomes top witch. Lourdes tries to killGalen and Dantha. Elyse traps Lourdes's soul in a tree and Galen and Dantha soul in rings. Then it jumps to present time. You really, really have to pay attention and read and reread to follow. We meet Lilith, who has lost all of her family and is in love with a total scum bag, named Greg. She puts him through law school and he dumps her and marry another. She takes a trip to the Dumnos,England. The place she has been dreaming of since the scum bag gave her a ring he bought on a trip. She falls in love with the earl of the country's son, Cade Bausiney; then she finds out why she's there. Elyse has been taking young women's bodies and souls. She does not want to die. Elyse wants her body because Lilith is half fae just like her. Cade and Lilith kill Elyse and set the souls free. They get married. The book ends with the Lilith confused about herself and family.

Just finished Give Me by LK Rigel last week. Wonderful story, well-weaved!

From the moment I opened the book, I was exactly where I most love to be: in a magic-filled world of witches - wyrding women, in this case - and mythos. Even when the ancient, wind-swept beach cliff turned into sunny California, 21st century, I willingly, hopefully followed. I trailed after Lilith, scared for her, angry for her, sad for her. Lourdes and Elyse lured me into their world of woes, while Bausiney and Marion brought modern-day Dumnos to life. The drippy, grey world outside my window surfaced just long enough for me to meet my kids at the bus stop, and I vaguely remember preparing dinner for my family. Meatloaf, I think...

Then, I was back, immersed in tragic decisions and lost love, wondering at how well-meaning intentions often lead us astray. Finally, relieved when. . .well, you'll have to read the book, yourself. Well past bedtime, I was still book-dazed as I brushed my teeth, awash in that familiar fog of fragmented feelings from another world - sadness, relief, anger, regret, hope. And, dare I say, even a little left over lust?

If you've become jaded, maybe lost your faith in magic? This book will make you believe, again.

After reading the description for Give Me, a fairy tale, I knew that I would like it, but by the time I was finished with the book, I was very surprised just how much I did. It was the perfect blend of paranormal and romance and the romance wasn’t sickly sweet. The POV switches from past to present were sometimes a tad jarring, but it actually worked really well for this story. Lilith was a believable, relatable character that I really connected with from the beginning until the end. I love that the love interest wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous. In fact, I do believe that at one point, Lilith wasn’t sure if he was strangely handsome or strangely ugly (or something like that). I’ve often had to explain to people my attraction to a man, so I totally understood what she was thinking in that moment.

My only complaint about this book is that it was over too quickly. There are so many things that I want to know about and I’m hoping that this is the beginning of something bigger. There are a lot of characters past and present that I would like to see more of and I wouldn’t mind seeing what life is like for Lilith and Cade and if she ever tells him about her new found secret.

I have never read a novella before so I wasn't sure what to expect (a lot of people complain that because of its length, there is no real character development and by the time you start enjoying the story, it's over). However, I found that once I started reading, I could not stop and I finished the book in a couple of hours. The story is wonderful and the ending sweet (though perhaps open for a sequel?) and the characters very lifelike, especially Elyse, whose progression from reluctant wyrder to slightly crazed old woman I found very compelling. Highly recommended to anyone who loves England (Dunmos sounds like a wonderful place to visit) and if you enjoy urban fantasy with a hint of historical romance.

*Semi-spoilers*

I had a feeling there may have been some factual inconsistencies near the end (i.e. how was Lilith able to retain mental control despite the fact that she had been possessed? (was it because of her heritage?) and why did Beverly not die after the Handover? (was Elyse able to counter-act the effect that the transfer of the ring would have?)

Another great book by L.K. Rigel. It was wholly different from her Apocalypto books, but completely engaging. I was sucked into the story right from the beginning and was hooked all the way through to the end. I read it in one sitting..... The plot was interesting, the characters were well developed, and the story flowed very fluidly- all things I think are difficult to achieve in a shorter story. I was surprised at the change in emotion I felt for one of the characters toward the end, and it added to the depth and richness of the story.
All in all a great read, and definitely worth your time- as are all L.K.'s books.

This is a story of a young woman caught up in a past she has no clue about. Lilith is dumped by her boyfriend. Having seen a travel brochure for "A magical fairyland" trip to Dumnos, she decided to get away for a while.

The story goes back & forth between long, long ago, and the present, weaving a tale of wyrders and lovers and magic spells.

I found the story fascinating and totally different from anything I've read before. This is a new genre for me, but I have to admit, I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for a quick read and a fascinating fairy tale.

First I just wanted to say thank you to the author and Read to review!

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read, entertaining and had a couple great romances going on at once. I didn't find it hard to read with POV and timeline switching around but I did find that it ended rather abruptly and that's why it is getting 3 instead 4 stars.
I wish the rating system allowed halves because I feel that it deserves more than 3 but not 4.
I would absolutely read another one if this became a series and I will be watching this author for more books. But for the price you can't beat it!

I have read this book participating in an R2R event. (Thanks to Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics). Overall I liked the book but I wished it would be a little longer. First, because I enjoyed the story and secondly, because I found some details a little confusing and I thought in a longer book they could be explained better.L.K. Rigel created a nice atmosphere both talking about the past and the present. The character development of Elyse was sad but it seemed real. I really liked the solution in the end.
The book is really worth reading if you like fairy tales for adults.

I loved reading it. A bit of modern world mixed with historical romance drama with mixture of paranormal fairy tale. I liked the short read. It was a fast read but the story held so much potential that can still be made full if the author wants too. The book cover is gorgeous. The title suits right. The setting of the story was good and perfect. The characters were really interesting, as well as the story. I wish there was more though, the ending is such a cliff hanger. The story is great, I certainly enjoyed reading it. Thumbs up!

I have so many good things to say about this book. First, it's a very well written novel and the intricate weaving of a couple of timelines was done very well. The characters, while not always likeable, rang true and clear. The setting and descriptions made it easy to transport myself to this strange land as I read along.

The author's take on the Wyrding and spells was a breath of fresh air, as was her take on fairies. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes their fantasy/ paranormal to have a creative flair.

I got this book in R2R.

This is a delightful short story that packs a lot of information which keeps things moving. One would think this fairytale would be predicable, but there were twist I didn't predict. I wish I could have seen more of Cade and Lilith story, but I won't take away points for it. I was certainly never bored and felt the relationships as true as written. It would be nice to read a continuation of this story.

Wow, for such a short book it packed a lot of detail and character development. There was enough back story so you knew what had happened, with the current story to draw you in. L.K. Rigel pulled you in from page one, it was hard to put down. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by L.K. Rigel.

Great concept, poor execution. There was some character development, particularly Lilith and Elyse, but it didn't go nearly far enough. Same for the overall story - not enough depth, and everything was just tied up too neatly and quickly.

This had potential but dragged on. The back and forth storytelling was disruptive too.
The writing quality was good (for a freebie) but it's not a series I'd pursue.
