Mandy is your typical maladjusted high school student. All she wants to do is shed her extra pounds and fit in. So, like many people probably should, Mandy decides to swim off her fat. There is just a tiny problem with this, and it isn’t Mandy, because as we’ve established, she’s a fatty. Something is very wrong in the water of the community swimming pool, something besides the gallons of urine that flow freely into public swimming pools across the globe annually. It is a place that still bears the consequences of a teenage party gone wrong. Mandy's evolution begins to take a turn for the very disturbing and deeply sinister.

Wet Linda reminds me of a hardcore version of one of those teen horror movies from the nineties and there are parts that channel Stephen King's Carrie. The plot is decent and, while I found Mandy's random internal monologue a bit much sometimes, the pace of the story was good, movie script like even.

There are some seriously disturbing scenes too. Parts where I actually shuddered and had to re-read them to absorb what was happening. It makes me wonder how dark the human mind can really be. Especially seeing as a healthy mind is never exposed to direct sunlight.

I do feel, however, that the book could have done with some extreme editing. Some of the punctuation and inconsistencies with the layout could frustrate the more particular, nitpicky reader. This is a flaw of many eBooks, I have noticed. A good editor goes a long way in impressing the reader!

Wet Linda is Parducci's first novel. With his wicked imagination and someone anal about punctuation and grammar assisting him, I feel confident that the potential is there for a good second novel.

This book "Wet Linda" is the first novel by Paul Paducci - and on this showing there's a promising future ahead for him.
The story tells of a body-conscious teen girl who moves, with her family to a new home in California. She doesn't fit in with the local "pool-crowd" so goes to the local community pool where she comes under the influence of an evil water demon (the eponymous Wet Linda) who uses her to wreak her vengeance.
It is a very well told story which is not afraid to be graphic in it's nastiness. It had me holding my breath at times, proper edge of the seat stuff.
If you like your horror gritty, this one is worth a go so try it out.
And no vampires or zombies - another plus point.

A wild, disturbing story about an overweight teen who takes a dip in the deep end of a very ominous pool near her house. I could almost smell the chlorine and pool shock chemicals in some of the dark scenes. On the downside, the Kindle formatting needs work. There are a ton of paragraph formatting issues, even some in the first chapter! There are also a couple of editing concerns (e.g maggots don't "team" they teem). I didn't really care for the epilogue and would have preferred a different coda or perhaps none at all. These issues aside, I was still able to get into the story and enjoy.

It was ok. The story started off well, but I thought the ending was a let down and also left loose ends unresolved. I'd be interested in seeing what else this author has written.
