Tomoko NINOMIYA (Japanese name: 二宮 知子) is a Japanese manga artist. In 1989, she made her debut with London Doubt Boys. She is best known for her series Nodame Cantabile, which received the 2004 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga. Nodame Cantabile has been adapted for television as both live-action drama series and 3 anime seasons.

Re-read 2021: Music festivals, Stresemann is found and Elise pops up, there is drama, and tons of conducting and music, oh and we are going to beach (yes, our 3 idiots and poor Chiaki who just didn't know what they were planning). I really like this series and how light-hearted it is, but also at times serious. I love seeing Chiaki get better at music/conducting, though I could also understand why he is so grumpy/frustrated at times. He is stuck with people who just cannot do things or who are annoying, his teacher doesn't care about teaching and rather would hook up with all women he can hook up with.
I did find it harmful how, when they saw how the director look plus-size, they immediately thought Stresemann wouldn't want to be with her, even making bets. And then later when the director shows up they comment on how pretty she is and other comments because she lost all the weight. No, just no.
I am happy with the short story after the volume ended, haha, it seems Noda was always the way she is. Good in piano playing, but bad at real life.

Many usual characters certainly appeared in this book, but this book often focused on Nodame and Stresemann. We can know the reason why Stresemann came to Japan suddenly and the childhood of Nodame through the story. It was good. I think such secondary things as backgrounds are interesting for readers. Moreover it makes readers more curious about stories, contents and characters. I like this manga!!

This review is for the series as a (almost) whole, reviewing after reading books 1-10.

It took me quite some time to really get into this series. Books 2-4 were okay. They kept me entertained and curious enough to keep going, but I don't think it was really until book 5 that I really got invested in the series and Nodame and Shinichi.

I'm not a fan of classical music so some of the lingo and storylines went over my head, but I got the gist of most stuff. Shinichi finds himself stuck with Nodame no matter how mean he is to her. He tries to make her aware that he wants nothing to do with her, but when something goes wrong he is always there. When she leaves their apartment complex mysteriously for a long period of time he must know what happened and if she's okay. And Nodame loves him despite everything. Even though she's a little nutty and extremely childlike she does her best to take care of him, ultimately giving him the greatest gift she could give him and he doesn't even know it.

Unfortunately, the library only has the first 10 books so I'm on the hunt for books 11-16 which is proving to be harder than I thought. I did also find that Crackle has the anime series available to watch!

i watch, dorama version :

Nodame - Noda Megumi is a girl who like playing piano since she is a little girl, but weirdy she can't read a music score ?? She play it with Cantabile Style - when she hear another people playing piano, she can remembered it and played it. She is a little like stupid girl who cannot cook and really lazy to clean her apartement where she live.

One day when she meet with Chiaki-sama - the son of a famous pianist who have a dream becoming a famous conductor. But too bad his fear of flying make his dream must wait. she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten for a long time that is to enjoy the music we play / hear no matter when and where.

pertama liat gambarnya sama sekali ga menarik. gambarnya ancur, orang yang digambarkan keren jadi sama sekali ga keren :-(
tapi pas liat doramana...keren bgt. nodame yang jorok, acak2an bertemu chiaki yang perfectionis abies. kisah cinta yang 'jomplang'klo orang jawa bilang. penuh 'ádegan kekerasan' dan agak berlebihan ala dorama jepang. orang jepang emang paling jago bikin sesuatu yang berlebihan.
yg bikin gw jatuh cinta sama serial ini adalah pemeran chiaki sinichinya yg cool bgt. keren. hiroshi tamaki luv u :-) nodamenya juga lucu, suaranya kayak film kartun.
pokoke keren...

one of the best comic i ever red! nodame cantabile menyuguhnya tema yang sangat berat seputar musik klasik dan manusia, namun dikemas dengan komedi yang sangat mudah dicerna, bahkan oleh orang yang tidak mengerti musik. komik ini memenangkan penghargaan tahun 2002. must read stuff!
