S. HAMIL, Sharon Hamilton’s twisted sister, writes paranormal romance with a central theme of the healing power of true love. Her characters from multiple worlds including Heaven and the Underworld are angels, dark angels, vampires and some who are not quite sure what they are. They follow a bumpy path to redemption, but not exactly what they taught you in Sunday School!

When I read a book, if I can connect with the characters, the biggest part of winning me over is done. I knew I'd love Joshua by the time I was finished with page one. And his story didn't let me down. Ms Hamilton used beautiful prose and rich description of the settings and put right there with the characters.

Joshua's job as a Dark Angel is to comb the Earth for people who are sad and want their struggles to end. He offers them a chance to leave it all behind and bask in unlimited pleasures in a guilt-free world. Sound good to you? Willing to trade humanity for a life in the Underworld? He says it's the perfect choice. After all, he's enjoyed the dark freedom for several hundred years and he doesn't plan on changing his mind about it one bit. That is until he meets Melanie. Something hits him when he runs into her in her flower shop, and it's not just the bundle of roses in her arms. It's love. How disconcerting! Suddenly, trying to claim such a beautiful pure-hearted woman and damning her to eternal darkness isn't such a grand idea. And to complicate things, the new Director of the Underworld has his eye on her.

Will a devout Dark Angel find a way to deal with these new feelings and be strong enough to save her from being the personal concubine to the most powerful person in the Underworld? For that matter, can he save himself?

Underworld Lover is the follow-up to Ms Hamilton's Heavenly Lover. If you love down to earth (or actually underworldliness) with rich romance, then you'll love Underworld Lover. It's got grit and silk woven together with a great story line. Bring on book 3.

Once again, Sharon Hamilton has created a fine piece of writing that takes the reader from the "real" world to an amazing new world: the Underworld and its Angels. Hamilton throws us directly into that world with Joshua's opening scenes and carries us through his conflicts, passions and resolutions with excellent writing. She is a master (mistress?)in her creative depictions of characters and action. Underworld Lover is a great read.

OMG it’s Josh from book one (Heavenly Lover) Dark angel and resident bad guy.
He’s training new recruits, but he’s not in the zone. He’s still bristling from losing both a human soul and a heavenly one.

Melanie is slowly recovering from the loss of her boyfriend, she’s sure he tried to save her before he died.
Her new love is a flower shop, she loves her job, but still misses him. The only person who ever really knew her.

I didn’t think this book could be any better than the first, I was wrong.
I’d come to expect a story full of passion, indecision and twists. I got that in spades. I didn’t think we would be able to redeem Josh, he’s been evil for centuries, convincing humans to end their life for a better one in the underworld (well that’s not going to happen is it?) he’s very good at his job. But he feels like he’s under investigation from the new director, and he’s not sure why!
Melanie was lovely, coming from a rich but cold family, all she’s ever wanted was love and a family, meeting Felix she thought they’d be together forever.....
Meeting Josh, Melanie thinks she’s found a new love, but Josh being Josh has been given a task. But will he be able to convince Melanie to come with him? But what if he doesn’t want her to travel to the underworld, what if he wants to stay with her?
The attraction Josh feels for Melanie is confusing him no end. He wants her, he could have her, but keeping her? That’s not like him.

(Peter) New Director runs the Underworld, I liked that idea, different from the usual rulers of Hell/Underworld. He’s now interested in Melanie, but why? Is it because he knows how Josh feels about her? Can someone that evil actually want Melanie? Yes he does, but not as a mate/wife, he wants her as a concubine in his harem!

Secondary characters are just as important as the main characters in this book. A lot of time and effort is invested.
Audray makes a surprising visit in this book (the woman Daniel loved in “Heavenly Lover”)
And Jonas (who I hear you cry) well he’s a player and a much needed character, and that’s all your getting from me😉

Third book “Underworld” Queen is next on my reading list.

Highly recommend this book.

I just really love a good redemption story. You get this with Underworld Lover. Evil is afoot in the underworld, and the plot is very exciting. So, you will be turning pages like mad. The chemistry between the dark angel and the human is sizzling. Your kindle might combust. The characters are intertwined in the series. Sharon Hamilton does an excellent job with them. I can’t wait to see what happens next! The audio version of this book is excellent.

Underworld Lover, book 2 of The Guardian’s series written by S Hamil. Filled with guardian angels, dark angels, the CEO (of sorts) of the underworld and other amazing characters this book plops us right back in the battle of good versus evil. Only this time —they are flipping the script! Didn’t think I could be warm and fuzzy over Josh after the first book, but, I think he is growing on me….sort of like a nasty growth, but growing on me just the same. 😅

The dark angel falls for a human, finding love for the first time. This series is so good. I'm grabbing the next book right now. Each is a stand alone but worlds are interconnected.

It took me several days to finish. This is the second book in this series and perhaps if I had read the first I would have enjoyed it more. I'm in the minority judging from the reviews here and on Amazon, but I write reviews based on my feelings after reading a book.

The plot: Dark Angels are able to travel between the underworld and earth to find suicidal people and convince them to go through with killing themselves and attain immortality by becoming dark angels. Guardian's (angels from heave) are protectors of humans.

Joshua: Dark Angel who recruits and trains the newly turned. His only failure was Daniel who fell in love with his guardian Claire. Joshua disguised himself as Daniel in an attempt to seduce Claire which would have turned her as well. Claire was made human by "Father" (God) so she could be with Daniel. Josh seems to enjoy his work. He has human friends he seems to genuinely like and wants to turn them. In fact, he describes Daniel as a friend and was looking forward to having him as a companion/buddy had he been successful in turning him. The new director of the underworld wants Joshua to turn Melanie for him.

Melanie: Innocent virgin, had a suicide pact with her friend Felix. He talked her out of it but went through with it himself. Her parents are wealthy, selfish and uncaring. She owns a flower shop. I'm really unclear on why she would even consider suicide. She never felt more than friendship for Felix but it seems she allowed him to think it was more. Though I guess the author wants us to think she's so innocent she wasn't aware of it. She is instantly attracted to Joshua and he, seemingly to her. Josh does not want to turn Melanie for Simon. He wants her to retain her humanity.

Peter: The new director of the underworld. Wants the virgin Melanie as his consort and to be rid of Joshua. He's supposed to be a big bad but he's a one-dimensional villain.

Audray: A confusing character, she was Daniel's unfaithful lover and apparently was turned by Joshua. Her motivations are unclear and she plays everyone in order to obtain power.

Felix: Was in love with Melanie and believed she was in love with him too. Why they planned to commit suicide is unclear and seems more of a plot device. He's described as pimply and looks like an adolescent though he is in his 20's. He alternates between crying (seriously, he cries every time he's in a scene) and mooning over Melanie and acting petulant and jealous.

Daniel and Claire: Couple from the first book, he's an artist and she was his guardian. Human now, they are expecting a baby.

James and Angela: James was turned by Joshua. Angela, his guardian lover, turned to be with James.

Beau: Joshua's friend. An aging rock star Josh helps Audray turn.

The story wanders in different directions never really go anywhere and the ending was tied up in a bow. There are errors in grammar and it felt disjointed. Once the story got going, there were lapses, like time had passed without the readers knowledge.

The romance was lacking. Joshua and Melanie don't spend a lot of time together until we get to the middle of the book. Joshua is still attracted to other women and flirts in a seductive way even after he supposedly falls for Melanie (though he doesn't do the deed with anyone else). Melanie is nearly drawn in by Simon. Apparently when a dark angel "breathes" on a person it has a aphrodisiac affect on them. I suppose it helps entice humans to the dark side. Again this may be something that was explained in the first book but takes away from the romance and fantasy for me when the characters are attracted or tempted by someone else.

The loves scenes were ok but several times the author refers to female genitals as "her peach" which put me off. She didn't have a problem using explicit or descriptive terms at other times so the euphemism was jarring.

So in the end, I didn't dislike Joshua and Melanie but never felt like I got to know them, so I'm disappointed.

Josh, an evil dark angel, had a perfect score in turning humans until Claire, a Guardian got in the way of his prospect Daniel. Being as ruthless as he is, who knew he could ever fall in love. When the new Director, Peter, assigns him to turn a virgin for Peter for his own pleasure, the unspeakable happens. Do you believe in love at first sight? Well I'd say this is what happened to Melanie and Josh. But already on Peter's bad side, Josh needs to deliver Melanie to him. But love gets in the way and has other plans. Can Josh get his old friend Daniel and his now wife Claire to help him out in the war that is brewing? Amazing story. Can't wait to read what happens in the next book!

This had the potential to be an incredible story. It had the potential to be a highly erotic, otherworldly tale...Instead we got this...

"He bent her over at the waist, then kneeled in front of her peach, hanging ripe, glistening with wetness from her juices."

Erm....What?...That wasn't exactly the erotic image I would have been shooting for...nor can I even begin to comprehend how a woman's...well...parts, could ever be described as "hanging ripe"...maybe her breasts but her nether regions?...The image that conjures up in my mind is not sexy or erotic...it is scary!

Moving on...

The Heroine...Melanie
She is an ultra sweet girl with rich parents who are not very nice people...she is of course, a virgin...and she, of course, drops into bed with the hero almost immediately.
She is such a bland, vanilla mary-sue. Melanie is a hot potato between the sheets but is a modest virgin by day? Or something like that.

Let's add to my confusion...
Melanie's dead boyfriend committed suicide but saved her at the last moment and becomes a dark angel...his teacher(?) see's Melanie and instantly falls in love with her...and the bad guy see's Melanie and wants her for himself...but, there really isn't anything special about this girl in the book...so, this normal girl just happens to attract every man she meets? Or what?

The Hero...Josh...hung like a horse
Hard as steel bad guy who is in the business of talking people into committing suicide...he collects souls for hell...but he see's Melanie, instantly falls in love, and wants her to remain a human?
For someone who has spent hundreds of years talking people into killing themselves in front of him...this man is a real softy and doesn't fit the image the author tries to create...it just isn't believable.

The badguy...Peter...is described as having a peter that is the size of an average woman's thumb...
He also suffers from premature ejaculation and cries in bed about it.
HE IS THE BAD GUY!!!! There is a sex scene that lasts for an ENTIRE CHAPTER...and how on earth can you get all worked up over a man with an itty bitty weenie? Who cries after he prematurely ejaculates?

Some chapters just didn't fit in this book, something's were done horribly...The big bang ending? Destroyed by this author...completely and totally shredded.

SO....this book did get three stars...After everything said above, why?

Because even with all the bad, it was a mostly enjoyable story. That in itself earned it one star.
Two, the author managed to give everyone a HEA. Half a star added...
Three, When the book finally got interesting, it was really good...Another half a star.
Four...It was a good idea that if worked over properly could be a fabulous idea...Good enough to be made into a movie that would rock. (and those movie theater effects that I COULD imagine gave it an extra boost of a star).

In it's current condition, I would say only read this book if you like mary/marty sues. Some people are really happy with them and happy with stories that are predictable...that isn't the case for me.

This is getting even better!!! JOSH! I hated him in book one “Heavenly Lover”, I really did! He’s a despicable creature whose idea of fun is helping innocents throw away the greatest gift a human has, “life”! So, then, can someone please tell me how Sharon manages to turn my whole brain and heart around and get me to absolutely love this horrible, dark angel. Yes I do love him and feel sorry for him and have no idea what is wrong with me.

Sharon did it again and even better! She has followed up on ALL the characters which I love and managed to create some new ones whose butt I would kick for free. Her wonderful imagination has created a story you won’t forget easily because it’s captivating. I couldn’t stop reading/listening because I was so immersed in the plot. If you were having second thoughts about getting this book, don’t, you will thoroughly enjoy it to no end, really you will!

This one is much, much darker than book one with a lot more action which I love and when the bad guy becomes the hero IT’S JUST TOO MUCH!!! Even Audray manages to win a place in my heart and I disliked her almost as much as Josh in book one too!

We’re introduced to JONAS, oh my, oh my… are we in for a treat in book three. Yes I know I’m ahead of myself here but I just know! Expect hot, fan-yourself scene with this one, I just know it.

J. D. Hart did a fantastic job of the narration. He’s so good with the different voices and accents. If you’ve heard him you will know that he as a deep, manly voice, yet he’s so good with the female voices too! He doesn’t try the high pitches just the subtle intonations, the pauses, the feeling comes right through and you can visualise the women as if they were right in front of you.

This sequel is full of surprises, more twists and turns promising and delivering entertainment from the beginning to the end. Very passionate and hot scenes that Sharon depicts so vividly. Another job really well done!

Underworld Lover

Joshua is a legendary Dark Angel. He has never lost a soul he went after, until recently. Now with a new director in charge of the underworld, Joshua is now being questioned by the one person who may be more powerful than him. The director hates Joshua, wants to destroy him. When Felix one of his recruits, talks about the love of his life. He sees an opportunity of taking another soul. Felix and Melanie were best friends. Depressed and suicidal both of them, due to situations from there family's and just life in general. Felix saved Melanie from the dark fate. So now Felix a dark angel in training and still worrying about Melanie, is resentful and knows he had made the wrong choice. When Joshua runs into Melanie (literally), he sees the innocent and beautiful woman and knows she should be protected and loved. He doesn't understand why he is so drawn to her but knows she must not be turned or hurt and knows form that moment that his life will be changed forever because of this women. The director has know found a weakness in Joshua and a innocent soul to take as a trophy.

This book is a paranormal romance but has a very religious undertone. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The world Sharon creates is one of magic and the fight of good and evil with your very soul in the balance. The sex scenes were very hot and the story has lots of action and drama. A good read. Adults only.

I really liked this story, and I loved the characters. I think I might have liked it better if I had read the first Guardian Angel (Heavenly Lover) before I picked this one up. It didn't keep me from getting into the story, but it would have given me more back story and it probably would have helped me understand some of the characters a little better.

The only other issue I had with Underworld Lover was that at times it seemed a little disjointed. Some things were repeated and at least once characters were introduced to characters that they were already introduced to. It just threw me a little.

In all fairness, I may come back to this one after I've picked up Heavenly Angel so my rating isn't written in stone. It's just where my head is right now with Underworld Lover. ;)

I received Underworld Lover as a free download from Amazon on September 23, 2012.

This was an excellent continuation to the series! Love Josh and Mel! Melanie is trying to move on with her life after her friend saved her from committing suicide but not himself, Felix is now a dark angel and under Josh's command! When Josh meets Melanie everything changes and chaos will happen. Josh is given an order from the Director of the Underworld that could put people in danger and change how Josh feels. Lines will be drawn, what side of the line will Josh end up on and what are the consequences for all involved! Good versus evil, right against wrong, love and friendship, all these things will be tested!

I really enjoyed this book about Joshua a dark angel who was the bad guy in Heavenly Lover and his love for a human Melanie.
Joshua had never lost a soul but, he lost his while falling for Melanie.
I love the way Sharon Hamilton draws us in to the story and we start routing for Josh against the new evil boss. Audry makes a welcome return she’s so deviously bad I found myself cheering her on.
With a nice satisfying ending with help from unexpected sources I hope Mrs Hamilton continues with these complex angels.

While this is book two in the series you can easily read as a stand alone or out of order. I do recommend staying in order just to understand the characters more.

I really enjoy Joshua and Melanie's story. They fit quite well together. Fallen angels are always fun. All the characters fit well together and mesh quite well. A nice simple read for teen/adult paranormal fans.

These angels are one of a kind that Sharon Hamilton has created. Quite impressed.

Another amazing read in Ms. Hamiltion's "A Guardian Angel" series. Hot, hunky fallen angel to sigh for!!!

Will the love between Melanie and Joshua survive the battle between the two dark angels, or will Joshua risk his own immortal life to protect the woman he loves?

This, as in all of Sharon Hamilton's books, is a wonderful story that I highly recommend

Great following to Heavenly Lover, with Josh falling for a human woman. The dark side is interesting and not that different from normal human life. Not an overly religious theme there is the Father presence that is done tastefully. Religious overtones about forgiving and redemption blend nicely into a thrilling romance.

This review is for the audio version. I loved it. If you've read the print version and like audios then you need to get this book. The narrator JD makes it like a totally new book when you listen by how he brings it to life. If you love romance, hot sex and drama this is the book for you
