I'm the author of seventy-something novels, including romance, women's fiction and mystery. When We Were Sisters debuted in June 2016, a stand alone novel about two foster sisters traveling back into their past together. I loved writing it and love the cover my publisher chose.

I'm also excited about my recent series, Goddesses Anonymous, which started with One Mountain Away and was followed by Somewhere Between Luck and Trust. The third book in the series, A River Too Wide, came out in July 2014. The Color of Light debuted in August 2015. Will there be more? We'll see.

I'm also putting up my newly edited romance backlist and love re-reading and updating them a bit.

Last year my husband and I moved from Virginia, to Osprey, Florida, the state where both of us were raised, met, and married. In the summer we live in Chautauqua, New York. I'm a quilter, knitter, kayaker, and the mother of four children, whom I regard as my greatest creative endeavors. And now there are four wonderful grandchildren to spoil.

I didn't like this at all mainly because I couldn't connect with the characters and the whole Scottish setting was quite different.

The hero was born in the Highlands but moved to America with his mother but now he's back to fix and sell his dead father's hotel and provide a safe place for his daughter. Duncan's marriage was a disaster and he was so busy that he never noticed how his wife was neglecting his daughter, now in turn for his business he has his daughter so he's not happy when he finds out some woman who stays all alone is giving his daughter books about fairies.

Mara moved after her divorce and lives in isolation because she has never felt accepted, she has the sight and was ridiculed for it and she can't live in crowds.

Duncan was not a believer and his experiences with his wife made him wary but they strike some sort of friendship and soon fall for each other but Duncan has no intention of staying and he doesn't believe her gifts at all.

I didn't like the fact that Mara interfered in Duncan's problems with his ex-wife and then she too was too forgiving and accepting. Duncan had never accepted her fully and a few words made it all okay.

Not recommended.

This author has a good reputation with this reader. I am very happy to report that she has written another winner.
Location: the highlands of Scotland
Nice description of flora which I appreciated. There’s a fair amount of paranormal as Mara (main female character) has the “second sight”.
Sigh .. the kirk is mentioned .. but not too much Christianity evident.
I Liked the strong friendship between the “midnight sons”. I suspect Andrew and Ian get their own books.
Lots of Scottish words .. delightful.
Fairies, mist, sheep, single parenthood, singleness.
My copy was officially withdrawn from local library collection; I bought it at their sale.
Some Scottish history was incorporated very well.

This is an older book (1995) that I pick for free just to see if it was worth reading. Let's just say it turned out to be an excellent, enjoyable read. This book did not feel at all dated! The story of a woman with supernatural gifts and a man who has returned to Scotland after the death of his father (the land of his birth) to star anew with his young daughter. In order to get custody of his daughter he gave everything in there old life because his ex-wife wasn't stable. This book is part of a three book series intitled The Men of Midnight. I plan to read the others and do recommend it as a clean well written, enjoyable read.

one of the Valentine's Day freebies I got for my kindle. A Harlequin Romance (! I know!) in German (translated from "the American"...) not my usual fayre but we'll see...

I don't know what I epected from a Harlequin romance, to be honest, but since the last one was ok, I thought this one might be too. Well, not my cup of tea, so I'll leave it at that. Aside to say I really don't think the main female character of a book always has to be so beatuiful and so perfect etc etc...

The english title is "Duncan's lady" (I prefer the english title but like the german cover better). I got it for free and I think I would not have bought it, but surprisingly, it was not that bad! I like the setting in a small scottish village. There are some supernatural elements but never too much. There are not a lot of love scenes, so some people might be disappointed.
