Honestamente, la peor novela de San Valentín que leí. Me sorprendió porque todas las que leí me encantaron. Como dicen, siempre hay una primera vez para todo.

Mí humilde opinión:
Johanna Thomas es maestra de jardín y detesta el día de San Valentín. Festejando el día anterior con amigas que odian esa fecha despierta junto a un desconocido. No recuerda la noche de pasión, bebió demasiado así que lo echa de casa sin dejar que él se presente, no quiere ni saberlo.
Él día odiado, las mujeres solteras de la escuela son subastadas para una cena para recaudar fondos y quien ofrece la cantidad más alta y loca de dinero es el desconocido con quién pasó Johanna la noche.
El Vizconde Damon Haymes recibe un golpe inesperado. Él testamento de padre estipula que para conservar su fortuna y título debe casarse y mantenerse así por un año.
Necesita una esposa desesperadamente! Y solo una se le viene a la mente.
Cuando la ve en una subasta a la que fue invitado no duda en pujar por ella y pedirle antes de cenar que se case con él.
Johanna por supuesto no es como las demás mujeres y se niega. Sin embargo, él no se detendrá hasta que acepte.
Porque la quiere solo a ella.
Bueno, otro libro que me obligo a terminar. Es lamentable! Me había llamado la portada, la sinopsis y luego el comienzo me dijo que se venía algo bueno pero mientras avanzaba fue una total decepción.
Johanna y Damon no me dijeron nada. No llegan a darse a conocer realmente.
O sea, ni siquiera hubo buena química entre ellos. Eran inconstantes. Sus peleas eran sinsentido y encima actuaban de manera inmadura o exagerada.
Ponía cada vez lo ojos en blanco con lo que se decían el uno al otro. No pude soportar a la pareja y lo previsible de la historia.
Ojo que no tengo pegas con lo previsible a veces con una buena historia no está mal. Las que empiezan con parejas que se tienen que casar por negocios y luego se transforma en amor me gustan y a veces resultan entretenidas pero está se lleva el premio a una de las peores que he leído. Es duro pero así lo siento.
Nada en la historia captó mí interés.
No vi romance del bueno. Los enemigos atrás complotando, los tontos malos entendidos, falta de comunicación... hicieron insoportable este libro.
Y como me pasa cuando leo libros que me transmitieron cero sentimiento, me pregunto por qué perdí mí tiempo con este este?!

My Review:
I really debated not reviewing this book because I wasn't sure what to do with it as far as my review goes. On One Condition is part of Entangled Publishing's new Ever After line. It's a very short read. I read it in a little over an hour. Unfortunately, I found it very short on story depth too. This book read like the original Harlequin's that I used to read in the early 1980's (yes, I am old...hehe!)
The story line is an old classic trope...English aristocracy who has to marry within a short amount of time or else he loses his inheritance. The twist on this one was that it's a contemporary romance and his heroine is a kindergarten teacher. I don't mind old tried and true tropes, but I need to be able to connect a bit more with the characters than I was able to in this book. For me, everything in this book was just a little too easy and cookie cutter. Maybe that's the goal of this new line. Actions and reactions flow through the story, but the depth isn't there to explain why they react one way and then two paragraphs later everything is completely different and okay again.
I know that I am rambling here and probably not making much sense. I am just not sure what to make of this book. If it was meant to be a retro kick-back to the old-style category lines, then this book succeeded. But for me, I want to read a book that embraces those old story lines and kicks them up a notch into the modern world and writing. For me, this book just did not do that.
BUT, I am just one person with one opinion. This book is getting rave reviews on Goodreads, so if the book appeals to you, please don't let me keep you from buying it. It just wasn't for me. Go take a look at the Goodreads reviews for other, very different opinions.

Sometimes you just need a little romance in your life. A moment where you believe that love at first sight actually does exist. With ON ONE CONDITION, you get that plus so much more.
I was a little hesitant on a short story. I thought, what could an author really tell the reader in 85 pages. Diane Alberts not only tells you a story, but delivers a solid backstory for her two main characters that will have you asking her for asking for a sequel.
A morning that begins from one night stand with an uber delicious British Viscount - hello swoon worthy factor - Johanna immediately regrets everything when she rolls over to find bright green eyes staring at her, smiling.
Damon, however, doesn’t regret anything, and is completely shocked when Johanna throws him out of her place. He wants to stay and get to know her, and maybe her name, but she wants none of what he’s offering.
That is until Damon wins her in a Valentine’s Day charity auction - que the string of awe’s! He’s a total keeper, at least that is what I was yelling into my Nook as Johanna continually shot Damon down.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story. This is absolutely a perfect Sunday morning, in front of the fire read, before real life starts calling your name. The only thing I didn’t like, is I felt Damon wasn’t British enough. While he is uber delicious, throwing a bit of British slang into the dialogue would’ve made him simple irrestible.

1 StarErm... this book had potential. The plot was nice but reading it felt like this was only rough draft. I'm surprised this was even published since it needed a lot more polish. The chemistry between the characters were not at all believable. No relationship build up nor character growth. Had to roll my eyes when they professed their love. Darn irritating. Ick.. I just wasted my time reading this. Good thing it was only a hundred pages or so. Good riddance.

Had fun reading this short and sweet story. Didn't hurt that the main hottie had a title and a British accent! *Swoon* Add to that was the perfect ending and lovely epilogue.
As Laura said, the best part to reading this was the fun and giggles shared with the Smut Trio!

normalito, muy corto y con poca información, esta bien que uno sepa que puede pasar, pero pienso que se pudo explotar mejor la historia, por lo corto del libro el misterio fue bombardeado de manera absurda.

I think I would have like this book more if I had not just read "The Marriage Bargain" by Jennifer Probst. This book was not a fleshed out as that one and since they have very similar story lines I could not help but compare. I never felt a connection to Johanna or really understood where she was coming from I wish she would have fleshed her character a bit more. Let the reader really know her insecurities about being abandoned. Even though you told us she felt abandon I never felt it. I thought Damon was better fleshed out but I never understood why he loved her. I don't think it has to because she did not know him at first. I really wanted to feel the love between them but was sad I really did not feel the connection. The book was a short quick read and some of this can be expected but not all. DON'T GET ME WRONG I LIKED THE BOOK but I wanted more. I loved the ending so that helped the hopeless romantic in me.
The whole Lilly thing did not mesh with me well; I understand were he was coming from by not having Johanna visit the sister because she gets attached to easily, but for him not to have told Johanna in the beginning had me confused. I mean all he had to say was on Sundays I visit my sister. It would have been done and over with and you could not have had this come between them. Other things came between them so Lilly could have been there to help Johanna see hat Damon really loved her and connect the story more. That is just my opinion but other than that the story was good.

Hilarious, Sexy Fun
Johanna is a kindergarten teacher that thinks all the men in the world are schemers. Due to a little too much fun the day before Valentine’s day, she wakes up to a handsome man and kicks him out! Little does she know he’ll show up again as a knight in shining armor with an offer she can’t refuse.
Damon is a cute British Lord with sparkling green eyes. He needs to marry to save his fortune, and the only woman he wants is Johanna. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want him. He’ll have to try everything to win her heart, and in the process he learns about giving.
On One Condition is a laugh out loud hilarious story that I ate up, clicking from page to page as quick as I could. It’s hot and steamy, but also has a good deal of heart at its core, which gives the story depth. I love how Johanna is a teacher, and how all she wants to do is donate to the school for computers. What a great lady! Damon is sweet and manly at the same time, and his head-over-heels love for Johanna makes him so vulnerable and appealing.

Take one person who doesn't think anyone can love them and add a member of the British aristocracy who's led to believe a marriage of convenience is needed to keep their inheritance and you have the premise of this lovely novella.
Johanna is determined to spend her life alone after having a few disastrous relationships, going as far as keeping everyone at arms length. But when she wakes up on Valentine's day after a night of drinking, she's in for a surprise when a stranger with a smoking hot British accent is in her bed.
Viscount Damon Hayes has just found out that he needs to marry for a year and attempt to produce an heir in order to keep his fortune. There is only one woman who Damon is even remotely interested in convincing (with a presentation no less) to sign up for the job. The hot kindergarten teacher who wants nothing to do with him.

Really, this book had me at the hot British guy. Seriously, what woman doesn't melt just a little at the thought of accented pillow talk? But then Ms. Alberts throws in a spunky heroine with a rich backstory and a heart of gold, a ton of laughs, and a bit of adventure--all in a very quick, addictive read! I didn't want this story to end.
I don't want to give any spoilers away, just know that if you are in the mood for a romantic, sweep you off your feet, modern day fairy tale that will have you grinning and laughing out loud, ON ONE CONDITION is a MUST READ <3

On One Condition by Diane Alberts is a quick, cute read filled with adorable date dates, British accents, a bit of royalty, and the terrifying joy and jolt of learning to love again. Damon and Johanna will inspire readers to keep dreaming, searching, and hoping for the happy ever after in life.
The best part of this read for me though was the Smut Trio gossip and smiles!

ON ONE CONDITION is a short but sweet romance. It follows a familiar trope - the arranged marriage - but does so with a humour that frequently makes you grin. But be warned - this story will also make you cry. And want to throttle the bitchy exes. However, it is a fairy tale and the ending is... well, exactly what a fairy tale should be.

Can I have a viscount that wants to make sure I'm happy in every way? Yeah...that's a YES PLEASE in all caps. Full of charm and romance with a side of misunderstandings wrapped in old hurts. These two had to work to find their happily ever after. Trust is so important to a relationship and these two bruise each other's hearts a few times before they get it right. But the HEA was all worth it.

That was such a cute story, never really had a dull moment. You really can’t go wrong with drama, romance and a very hot British lord. It was a very fast read. I loved how it ended, very prefect.

ON ONE CONDITION was one of those novellas that seemed to tick all of the boxes that I want to fulfill for a short, contemporary romance. Though, Johanna and Damon start of their relationship with what appears to be a one-night stand. Damon has his own agenda for wanting Johanna to stay with him for longer, but Johanna doesn't seem to be much of a romantic at the start anyway.
Diane Alberts throws her characters together for the second time at a charity auction, and I was rooting for the two for the rest of the novella. Alberts' language and style of writing was easy to immerse myself in, and even if I wasn't already such an anglophile, I would have found no issue following along with Damon's dialog.
It's no secret that I love a British hero, and Damon Hayes doesn't disappoint on that front. His side of the relationship that he and Johanna conducts is to save his inheritance. Though this type of situation usually means that I have to grow to like the hero, I liked Damon from the beginning. ON ONE CONDITION really showcases two people who have their own issues and aren't, by any means, perfect. But, it also showcases two likeable people, even if they did enter into a marriage for the wrong underlying reasons.
Alberts did a fantastic job making me feel as if I was reading a novel-length story. Johanna and Damon's characters were both people that I could see as three dimensional. The story line necessitated an abbreviated romance, but it still felt real. Kudos to Alberts for this HEA novella, and kudos to her also, for whetting my appetite for more of her writing.

Wow, another incredible romance novella published by Entangled. I am yet to find an Entangled title that I do not absolutely love.
Juliette hated Valentine's Day. Everyone walking around happy while she is always alone. Enter Damon, the one-night stand she kicks out of her room only to run into the next day and be proposed to. Juliette, thinks he's crazy but when she agrees to marry him so that he doesn't lose his fortune, she has no idea that this business partnership just might end in true love.
I loved this book. It was brilliant and my complete hopeless romantic girlishness came back with a bang. I cannot think about this book without just wanting to sigh dreamily and let out an "AWWWW". It's fair to say I awwed many times throughout this book. I just fell in love with the story and the character's and Diane did a wonderful job telling their story. It has been a while since I read a pure romance book and I really loved delving back into this genre and what a book to delve back into with. It was fantastic.
I completely 100% fell head over heels for Damon. I think there's just something about the name because every book I read when the lead male is called Damon, I just fall in love with him. That was definitely the case in this one. I just loved how sweet and caring he was and I loved seeing his feelings for Juliette grow. So many times when they were fighting I just wanted to reach into the book and push them together. I became so involved in this book I read it in one sitting as I couldn't stop reading until they got to together. This happens to me many times while reading romance, I'm just that much of a hopeless romantic.

It's brilliant but if you decide to read this book you best be prepared to turn all schoolgirl with the awws and the dreamy sighs. There's no way to avoid it with this great novella.

Who doesn't like Valentine's Day? Only one person: Johanna. She hates it! She hates being alone on Valentine's Day watching other couples being so loving. What's worse is her school's annual charity date auction where all singles have to go through (It's her third time). Oh gosh! This is so much like a fairy tale but much better and much more realistic. Diane has a way with her words and absorbs you into them. It's a fast read and a book which you can finish in one sitting. If there's anything to complain about, it is that I was hoping the story could be longer so that there's so much to read about what's happen between Damon and Johanna. There's obviously a little more story to tell about Damon's sister.
Overall, an enjoyable and quick romantic read. Highly recommended to anyone who loves this genre!

La historia es entretenida y rápido de leer. De verdad la leí en menos de un día, me tarde con la reseña porque tenía exámenes para los cuales estudiar pero aquí voy.
La historia rápida de leer y predecible lo único impredecible es Lily pero aún así sabes que no es mala.
La recomiendo para un vuelve a la vida... Ya sabes cuando terminas un libro tan cruel que te dejó con ganas de tirarte de un puente este libro es tan romántico que dices aún hay esperanza y pues lo terminas y dices que vengan más desilusiones por eso le doy 4 porque estaba en un bache y pues este libro me ayudo a seguir el camino de la lectura

On One Condition did absolutely nothing for me. I felt like the whole book was just..... Johanna was a tad annoying and Damon was sweet. It always annoys me when two adults do this non-stop back and forth question inside their heads instead of talking it out with each other like adults. I know thats what makes the book but if you over do it (like On One Condition) I'm done. The story also felt a little rushed even for a short story. I see all the great reviews and I'm sorry to say that this book did nothing for me.

This modern fairy-tale type romance is sure to win over the hearts of many, just as it did for me. I loved the romance, the relationship, the characters--pretty much everything about this short romance. Maybe it was his British-ness, but Damon had me from the very beginning. ;) Also, I loved Johanna. She's fierce and guarded and I could WAIT for Damon to break through her barriers. :) (Oh yeah, and they make a totally sexy couple)

Diane Alberts is one of my favorite contemporary authors. Her voice is so prevalent in everything that she writes. I love the spunk, and snark that her characters have. They are always so relateable, and On One Condition is no different. Immediately you relate to Johanna and her disdain for Valentine's Day. This is a modern day fairy tale, and is sure to please. It's a quick read, and I highly recommend it to everyone that needs just a little romance and happy ending in their lives!

I keep buying Alberts books because the cranky heroines and themes I love suck me in on the blur. Cranky heroine and marriage of con? Love it. One click.
However, thus far, this writer has been rather painful for me. The heroine's aren't really psychological developed in a way that resonates with me and the pacing of the plot seems both manic and slow mo at once.
In short, this one didn't work for me. Sigh.

La cosa con este libro es que rapidísimo de leer (yo lo leí en un par de horas) y te entretiene. No es el siguiente New York Times Best Seller, pero para momentos de aburrimiento y cuando no sabes qué leer On One Condition es una opción. A mí me gustó y sabía que no iba a darle una nota muy alta, más que nada porque te esperas lo que va pasar y no hay nada nuevo en ello.
Así que, sí. Te lo recomiendo después de todo.

I thought it was an ok story, cute.
The writing was mostly good, I found myself rolling my eyes at some conversations but otherwise the writing was good.
It would have been better if there was more time devoted to the story, explored the stories, characters full potencial.
It had a good story line, but lacked.

after reading the marriage bargain by Jennifer Probst, saw this one and thought, oh what the hell, another book for 2.99, well, the joke was on me, pleasantly surprised also by this one!!! Redommended for u romantics at heart...

The story is cute, predictable and fast-paced. There's a lot of misunderstanding between them but nevertheless I enjoyed reading it. I'm also touched by Johanna's past so I get to understand why she is so closed off in her surroundings and I'm so impressed by Damon's dedication to win her over.

Una historia corta, sencilla y sin mucha sustancia, aun asi esta muy bien para pasar el rato.
Me hubiera gustado mas si hubiera sido mas larga y la autora desarrollara mas a los personajes y la trama.
