I like Ms. Alder's first novella that I read last year, that I jumped into this one. While there are still adorable moments, I'm not as highly entertained as her first debut. I think it's mainly because of the main character, Chase's 'fault'.

See, he's such a screw up, he avoids dating and trying a relationship because he thinks he cannot love (his last relationship with a woman he dated for 6 years went to bust), that he just do stupid things, like avoiding Bryan, and instead trying to set Bryan up with someone else. Stupid Chase *grumbles*. Luckily, Bryan is persistent enough to confront Chase. Oh, by the way, I think both men are bisexual, since Bryan also dates woman, though he breaks it up before he makes a move on Chase (so no cheating, thank God).

So the two MCs don't make a move until we pass the first half. Then the ending is a bit rushed. However, I must say that Bryan's dog is adorable, and the ending, which describes Chase's greeting on his answering machine is a HOOT! Love it! Definitely a unique way to finish a novella.

So yeah, I do enjoy this. There are some worthy to smile moment despite Chase's stupidity. I guess I will look out on Ms. Alder stories, whenever she will release it.

PS: no penetration sex, just a number of kisses.

3.25 Stars---my first book by this author, and the writing was pretty tight, I really loved the secondary characters (a lot more girls in this M/M contemporary romance than I'm used to). The plight of the main character Chase, with his apparent inability to know and accept love, seemed almost forced to me at times, and sometimes he was so clueless about his own feelings (eg. attraction to Bryan, jealousy, sexual feelings, etc) I wanted to thump him upside the head and tell him to do some self-talk. . .but it was a good book overall! I will be reading this author again in the future

3.5 stars. This is the first book I've read by this author and I would say it was very promising. I really liked Chase - even though I thought he was a bit clueless at times. But sometimes people are just blind to their own issues and need a little help seeing the truth. I loved Bryan in this story although I think he was also a little bit clueless at one point. The fact that Chase had all these friends who really thought a lot of him and cared enough about him and trusted his judgement enough to let him set them up on dates seemed to be lost on him. Luckily he was smart enough to figure out he needed to at least trust Bryan a little bit. I would have liked to have a little bit more background about why Chase would think he was so broken. It seemed to me that just listening to one girl was a lot to digest, but I'm wondering what about his past would have contributed to his believing so much in her assessment of his flaws. In any case, I enjoyed the book and would like to read more by this author.

I love the song and dance between Chase and Bryan. Chase doesn't believe he's capable of love after ending a six year relationship in which his ex told him he would end up alone forever. But in comes Bryan. Chance meeting with him over the phone after Chase gets referred to him from Tyler, who kinda described him as a pimp. The thing with Tyler calling him a pimp was kinda hilarious esp. with the drink thing.

Chases friends were pretty cool people. Chases insecurities and vulnerabilities made my heart pang and I just wanted to take care of him I'm so glad Bryan wasn't discouraged after the horrible mistakes Chase made. That he continued to pursue Chase at the risk of having his
own heart broken.

The ending was very romantic and I would love to revisit these two just to see how far their relationship progressed.

Match maker Chase sets his dream guy up with someone else.

Chase is damaged from the bad end of a past relationship and is convinced he will hurt the next person he’s with, so he keeps all his relationship/hookups light and fun.

The flirtation between Chase and Bryan is fun and sexy. I honestly don’t know what Bryan sees in Chase to be in love with him, especially to give him a second chance after Chase completely blows away his first one. I wanted to slap Chase, maybe if he was more self-aware things wouldn’t have been so hard between Bryan and him. The ending is the best part, and no not because the book was over but because it is incredibly sweet. I like the moment Chase realized he loves Bryan and the answering machine is so cute.

This is another quick and easy read for me (I should make a separate shelf for these). I'll be honest it will never stick with me but it was fine for an enjoyable one read. Chase is a bar tender and makes good money he has an okay life with good friends. He does a side job where he hooks up his friends and friends of friends. He's like Hitch basically but without the money. He meets Bryan who needs a date but instead both men start developing feelings for each other.

It is a sweet story about Chase feeling like he is unable to love, and Bryan trying to reach him and tell him how good they could be. I loved the ending it was seriously romantic and well-written.

Wow, party a drama if we consider, how deeply Chase and Bryan suffered to finally get into a relationship. Most stories are around easy romance, dates or even instant love. But here, we have a guy, Chase who never gotten over, his first fiasco in love. Really Chase was emotionally so naive and blind. Poor guy to be in such an emotional turmoil. Good Bryan never given up, this guy really deserved a medal. But then, he got it, true love. How romantic ^___^!

3.75ish stars for me, so I rounded up. I really enjoyed the writing in this! Wanted to bash the characters upside their heads for being stubborn haha but I really enjoyed it. Very sweet ending. I look forward to what this author writes next.

Chase? Is an idiot. He's perceptive enough about everything not involving himself, but whenever it becomes about character [X] and Chase, he suddenly has no idea.

It's adorable and really fun to read. I loved these characters and I loved reading this book.

Cute premise. Can't remember any complaints, but I read it a while ago. Will reread and make a proper review.
