The problem with these kinds of books is that they remove all the clutter from people's homes and then replace it with new clutter. Here, let's clear this bookshelf of everything. Okay, now let's put 3 books back on the shelf AND this interesting vase. (Where the hell are the other books and things?)
Just seems like these kinds of books can do a better job of explaining the process and goal of decluttering the home instead of doing the whole "ta da!" routine. Sometimes, looking at the "after" picture, I just visualized the junk getting there again. It would have been nice to see more photos of rooms that were more realistic.
Also, label makers: use in moderation, plz. K-thx.
Ne'ertheless, there were little tips in the margins written by readers, and they were interesting and practical. And truly, there was some good suggestions made by BH&G. This is a good book to leaf through to get inspired.
I was disappointed in this book. it hada few good ideas. however, it was extremely repetitive and only mentioned ideas as to here how something can look ( via primary explained by pictures). It shared very little steps to actually approaching how to cut clutter other than get rod od stuff buy storage stuff that looks good and label everything. a few good pointers but overall, look at the pictures for ideas as oppose to reading it. that's the majority of the book anyway. If you dis read a paprtof it, go for the case study over view (right column of the page) and readers tips throughout.
There were lots of great ideas in this book, but not a lot of specific organization detail. The layout of the book however was very cluttered. I never knew when to start or stop reading certain sections. Many times I would end up confused as to where the book was going.
An unexciting book, with nothing that leaps out as a really good idea, some of the before and after pictures just looked like some-one had tidied up, but there again that is the secret of clutter busting - tiding up - a place for everything, don't keep what that which isn't used....
Please google how to clear your clutter instead of buying a book. I honestly don't think any of these are worth buying. And my bookshelf is for books, not decorations.
