This is how I felt when I received this ARC
**This ARC was provide through Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
This book is about mobster families, the Luchessi's and Andretti's.
There is a longstanding feud between the two families. Carlo Andretti's daughter was married to Enrico Luchessi. Carlo blamed Enrico for her death.
The feud is made worse when Carlo's nephew tries to kill his wife Kate. Enrico wants Kate so he moves to protect her from the Andretti's.
I really wanted to love this book. Where it lost me was when Enrico and Kate got together after no time flat. The sex scenes were really cheesy to me as well. I guess it's just a personal preference but I just didn't like the fact that Kate slept with Enrico while she was still married. I know her husband was bad but literally the same day she found out he was a mobster she slept with Enrico. She didn't know he was also a mobster. The funny thing was it was blatantly obvious.
I love mob stories especially when they include romance and this book started out strong for me. Somewhere along the way I lost my mojo. I think it was the writing. The way the story was told. I know this is a personal preference but I had a hard time staying engaged in the story in the last half. I was so excited to get this book so it just felt like a huge let down. Unfortunately this book was just mediocre for me.

I received an e-book copy to review from the author, and was excited because I love a good romantic suspense/thriller. An American far from home and running from the Mafia? A forbidden and dangerous love? Sign me up! Alas, my initial joy was not sustainable. NOTE: Spoilers ahead.
Technically, this is an extremely well-written book. No noticeable grammar issues, which has been an annoying trend I’ve notice in both paper and electronic books. The book also jumps right into action (first words: As his assassins set the trap…) and it doesn’t stop. I have mixed emotions about this. The tone was too serious; I like my romantic suspense with a hint of levity. I love brooding heroes as much as the next person, but I like my brooding with a side of lightheartedness from a secondary character. This may be hard to pull off when feuding families have managed to kill or terrorize each other for decades, but a girl can dream!
What really irritated me was Kate, the heroine (and as I type she’s bothering me more and more). Part of my irritation may lie in the fact that Kate is the only female character (except for the women mentioned but never physically present), so everything she does or that involves her is heightened. At first, Kate starts off as an independent, strong woman who won’t tolerate her husband’s abuse and lies about his Mafia ties. She’s leaving (huzzah!). She absolutely will not accept lies or the Mafia, not from her husband and she certainly won’t bring a baby into that situation. She promptly turns around that night and falls into bed with Enrico with absolutely no protection to speak of. AND AFTER HE ASKED. TWICE!! I’m sure you can guess what happens next. And she swears up and down that she will not tolerate lies or the Mafia, but forgives Enrico’s. She thinks she’s practical, but in my mind she got dangerously close to TSTL. She just didn’t make sense. Suffice it to say, I didn’t like her and as time went on I didn’t want her relationship with Enrico to work. And when the relationship starts out with the heroine being on the run from her husband, it’s important for the audience to want the relationship to work. There were other issues that really bothered my inner feminist, but I won’t rehash all of those issues here.
While I wouldn’t read this story again, I think the author shows promise. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how she develops as a writer and I’m curious about the remaining books in the series (especially Antonio’s).

BRIEF SUMMARY

Vince becomes this monster under the direction of his cold hearted uncle Carlo and soon Kate is fighting for her life. To try and save herself, Kate accepts help from the enemy, Enrico Lucchesi and the Andretti/Lucchesi war is on. Enrico never wanted to be in the mafia but has had to fulfill his father's duty. He is now fighting for the woman he loves, the child he never new and the world as he sees it should be.
THOUGHTS
Being from New Jersey, the "Soprano State" I love mafia stories! At first, I was so confused by so many characters that I even had to reread the first chapter to make sure I knew who everyone was. After that, It was an enjoyable ride.... I thought Enrico was incredibly sexy and Kate is feisty which makes for a very explosive relationship! I loved how the author incorporated the beauty of Italy and the romantic undertones of the land. The sexual intimacy for me was off the charts!
Now, I will say the mob storyline is kind of weak. Enrico who has lived his life being groomed to be "capo" is he willing to throw it all away, risk his life and that of his family for Kate? I don't think so. I was waiting for Enrico to step up and play the leader against Carlo and stop whining over Kate, finally at the end we see Enrico do what he is suppose to do. For me, I am a romance junkie so I didn't mind that the mob story was kind of secondary to the romance.
This is the first of a 4 book series and look forward to reading about everyone’s story! I really enjoyed this book! The research the author did is evident and the sensual overtones are scorching!! Highly recommend this read!!

This story picks up 26 years after the end of Malavita. Enrico Lucchesi lost his wife of 25 years to cancer and the truce between the Lucchesi family and the Andretti’s family seems to be over as her father Carlo now also blames Enrico for her death and wants Enrico dead more than ever.
Enrico has been deeply grieving for his wife to the point he has neglected many of his duties as capo dei capi,(Godfather). One of the businesses he oversees is an orphanage. He has been intrigued with one of the new American workers there but feels guilt over this even though in his wife’s dying breath she made him promise he would marry again.
Kate was born and raised in America. She met and fell in love with a man who she thought was perfect. When his job takes him to Italy, Kate is more than happy to follow her husband on this new adventure. But what Kate didn’t count on was that her husband works for Carlo Andretti who she is scared of and has fears he is part of the mob. When her husband’s moods start changing and he becomes violent with her she leaves him. But walking away from the mob is not something that is acceptable and when Enrico sees this as his chance to both save her from her husband and to get close to her this opens up field for more bloodshed and vendetta’s.
With both his life and Kate’s in danger more than ever Enrico pulls in his trusted men to protect them but loyalties are not always where they should be. There is plenty of betrayal from all side.
This is an intense series and the author does not pull any punches. These are dark and violent books . As I am reading this series – Al Pacino’s line from Godfather 3 rings through my head – “Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in”

I gave this 5 stars, since I could not give it 4 1/2; it's a book I know I'll read again.
I'm not usually the kind of person who will seek out a book that talks about the Mafia - I'm not a fan of 'stuff in boxes', etc, however, in this case, I'm very glad I took the chance and read it. The amount of research that Dana did was impressive. The way she captured the language, the way that the Mafiso works in that area, the 'code' that some of the more 'respectable' Mafiso stick too and the visuals of the area are fantastic.
Quick breakdown of the novel ~
Kate, a fair skinned American beauty, is living in Italy; she married Vince Andretti after a whirlwind courtship and not knowing that much about his 'family'. Kate's gut has told her something is 'amiss' about her husband, little does she know that he is part of the ruthless Andretti family.
Enter Enrico Lucchesi, a handsome, widowed businessman who also happens to be the capo of the Lucchesi family; he is also Kate's boss at the orphanage where Vince has reluctently let Kate work.
Enter the twists and turns of this compelling novel.
Dana weaves such a wonderful story of love, passion, trechery, 'old code' and lies that I stayed up til after midnight reading. The novel got a slow start, then once it got going you were drawn into this 'world' where people live by a different set of rules. A world where men have closed door meetings, where you might receive something in a box that belonged to someone you and love as a 'message'.
You watch the main characters grow, they fight, the love, they lie and they feel; they are well rounded and you can actually picture running into them in Italy and seeing the events unfold. The end of the book left me wanting to read the next novel.

I have read this book in 3 days. This book has been well research and interesting facts about Italians and of course "mafia".I found it very interesting book but for some reason I could not connect with Kate as I would have liked to.I could not put my finger on the why.
Good job on Dana's first book and I will read the other books in the series .I am looking forward to Antonia's story.

Longest fucking book I've read all summer omg. Or maybe it was just me, idk why it took me forever.
But this was such a good and intense mafia thriller. So much goes on in this book and some things do get confusing like their names, titles, etc. There's too many people involved and too many Italian words I don't know even though it had a little mini dictionary in the beginning but I ain't got no time or effort to keep checking back to that page on epub its too difficult ajksdljsl.
I'm glad I had read mafia fics similar to this before so I already had an idea of how mafia stories go. If not I would have been so fucking lost and reading this would have been entering a whole new world I didn't have a single clue to.
So if stories like that are interesting to you, this would be a great book!

I had thought this story (based on the summary) was about Kate trying to get away from her mobster husband but welp that had only lasted for not even half of the book and then the rest was just another antagonist jdfkfjdlfd.
And loving how this book ended with a blow job fsld;fk;sf omfg Enrico and his ~formal english and not understanding the words for things or what things are sometimes :3

What Kate also doesn’t know is that he is connected to the mob too, but on the opposite side of the fence to her husband. The war between the two families, that has been smouldering for years, flares up and she is right in the middle of it.
I grew up in a time when ‘The Godfather’ with Al Pachino was a big hit, and apart from that series of films I have never really been interested in any facts or fiction related to this subject. I have to say I might change that now because this was a really interesting action packed story with ‘umph’! Revenge is not a short book or a quick read, it took me a number of evening reads to complete, but I didn’t feel the urge to rush to the end, I really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Dana has the ability to pull in the reader with a great writing style, varied vocabulary, realistic characters and an exciting plot. This is the start of a series and I hope she manages to keep up the pace and standard she has set with this instalment throughout the rest of the series. I would recommend this to fans of the genre.

This is the first time I've read a book from Dana Delamar, so I wasn't sure what exactly I was getting myself into. Even before I started reading there was a page with translations from Italian to English, which I found good (I couldn't remember half of the meanings from High School) & I found it got my mind set on the conversations to come. I must say that I was impressed with the detailed descriptions of the country side, houses, people & food through out the book, it made me feel like I was walking around Italy with the characters. The detail of the Mafiso codes & there involvement with the people & other Mafiso fanctions was visually fantastic. Some of the scenes where a bit tense & as a female I found them disturbing, but the scenes contributed to the storyline.
There are so many twists & turns in this compelling novel. Dana weaves us such a magical story full of love, lies, deception, passion, emotions, action.... Bring on the rest of the series & any others you've got published, reader for LIFE!

A real page turner. Revenge is a book that will hook you and not let you go. Rico Luchessi is a reluctant mafia don with a kind heart and a willingness to show mercy. Unfortunately, as he realizes, mercy doesn't beget mercy, and he has enemies from all sides.
When he rescues a battered wife, Kate Andretti, of a competing Mafia family, he borrows more trouble than he can handle. Especially since he starts falling in love with Kate.
This book was exciting from start to finish. Kate is feisty and Rico is plain hot. He loves so hot and at the end, Kate discovers and believes that she is truly lucky to be loved so passionately by a man with such intensity.
The author does a fantastic job at description, action, and emotion. I felt like I was right in the middle of the firefight. Even though things end relatively happy, there is an Epilogue that drags you into the next story where new enemies arise and betrayal is right around the corner.

I got this book as a gift from the Author, at a time where I really needed a good distraction, and I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful read with plenty of steamy love making. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book and I stayed up way passed my bedtime to read it. I loved the characters and Dana Delamar has a wonderful way of transporting the reader to Italy with her vivid descriptions of the land. I can't wait to see where the series will take us and I for one am a big fan of her work. You will not be disappointed in this book.

If you are intrigued with Mafia aspects and the inner workings or gritty, dark stories than this is a book for you! Revenge is a fictional take on Mafia life in Italy that will have you questioning the line between reality and fiction, that is how well written this book is!
Well-developed characters help carry the story, they are perfected in their own way from sweet, endearing Antonio, rugged Ruggero, untrusting, jaded Kate, emotional Enrico and the purely evil Carlo. The relationships that are created and shattered all hold a significant part for the story and I'm guessing, for the future stories of Blood and Honor. Kate and Enrico were both agreeable characters that each have their own personal struggles that send them(and the reader) on a roller coaster. You ultimately are able to sympathize with each of them, making you eager for a happy ending.
The imagery is well laid out, to the point where the reader will feel immersed in the bellisimo Italia and the culture surrounding the Mafia. There is corruption, violence, blood and gore, death, hard decisions and the expected romance. In other words, this story has grit that will either have the readers cringing or increasing their reading speed. I was drawn into the story from the absolute beginning, unable to put the book down. The dialogue was simple perfection, where you could hear the Italian accents dripping from each character(save Kate). Dana Delamar expertly weaves in Italian words that flow flawlessly, giving the story an authentic Italian feel. Bestowed with many point-of-views throughout the story we are able to fully soak up the Mafia aspect as we get an inside look at both sides of the bigger 'family'. Yet, the story still carries a hint of mystery. Dana Delamar has obviously done a tone of research regarding the Italian Mafia, successfully turning it into a fictional story that will grab your attention, rendering you useless until you are satisfied at the end.
Blood and Honor will be a four book series, each taking a closer look at different characters involved in the Lucchesi Family. I found Revenge to be the perfect introductory story to the ones that will follow, allowing us to become attached to the future main characters and understanding their roles.

This is the first in a series of four by Dana Delamar and sounds to me like it's going to be a very strong entertaining series! This is my first time reading (instead of watching) anything pertaining to mafia. I honestly did not know what to expect and am very glad I did not put the book aside. This is one sensual, very well written (I felt as if I was in the book myself many times), action packed read. So many secrets unfold, unexpected twists and turns that have you holding your breath for the outcome and will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for what comes next (I know that's what I as doing).
Kate is an American woman whom is married to the mob (but is oblivious to the fact). That's until one day her husband (Vincent) shows his true colors and physically harms her. Lost, confused and in pain she tries to think of ways to get out of the marriage and FAR away from him. She's a very strong woman and has a very sharp mind. But thinking of a way to survive this ordeal has proven difficult. That is until she caves and talks about it to Enrico Lucchesi. Someone she thinks of as a friend, fellow worker in the orphanage and nothing else.
Enrico is a kind, caring, family loving (and handsome) man. He has his hands in many things. He helps the community in ways beyond the imagination. And he does it all with his whole heart. One day while visiting the orphanage he's a part of. He's approached by Kate who is a worker in the orphanage and he has desired for some time. He finds out what has happened to her with much coaxing and offers his complete protection. She reluctantly agrees (after another run in with Vincent) and all goes haywire from there.
I loved everything about this book. Except for all of the doubt Kate had in Enrico love for her. I understand she VERY recently got out of a dangerous marriage. But when a man puts himself in front of a bullet for you and proves (not with just words) how much he loves you. You don't still question if he'd give his life for you. Otherwise I loved her character and the strength she held onto. If half stars were allowed I would have given it 4 & 1/2. It's a very entertaining read!

Here is to a WHOOPING 5 Stars. If I had to describe this book in about 4 words it would be action-packed, sexy, romantic, and adrenaline rushing. I had someone point out that this reminded them of a movie and after reading this I can now say this would make a kick butt movie! There were times when I was fanning myself, sitting on the edge of my seat, and so mad I had to put it down. The steamy scenes were oh so delicious!
This book is all about Enrico Luccshesi, doesn't that name just sound sexy? He is the head of the Lucchesi Mob, and there are many different mob groups. Well, there is a bloody war going on between the Andretti's and the Lucchesi's that stemmed from when Enrico was way younger. I will not tell you the problems that there were because you definitely want to discover them for yourself. Then you throw Kate into the mix, she is a kick butt, independent, strong woman... and she doesn't take crap from no one. Not even Carlo Andretti's (head of the Andretti Mob) nephew Vince. When Vince hits Kate, she knew she had to get away and that's when Enrico and Kate wind up crossing paths!
Now for my feelings on this book. I was a little confused with the vocabulary, about who was who, and who was related to whom? But, let me tell you if you read the vocabulary list in the front of the book it will all start to make sense and then you will be in for the ride of your life. Thank you so so much Dana for asking me to review this! This exceeded my expectations, Revenge was absolutely fabulous. I have never read a book like this before so I didn't know if I would like it BUT I DID, I SO DID! And knowing this is only the 1st book??? WHAT NOW? The ending really killed me, what a cliffhanger. I would have never expected that and now will have to be tortured waiting on Book 2.
I would recommend this to anyone who is a lover of romance, steamy love scenes (AND I'M TALKING JALAPENO HOT!), and action! This is an awesome book and I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of this series. Be on the lookout for Dana guys, I know I will.

4.5 Stars!!! - I will explain at the every end why I didn't give it 5.
Wow. First let me tell you that I was very impressed with Dana's writing. As a self-published author this book was EXTREMELY well-written. She must have had one hell of an Editor. Also this particular book had to have required mountains of research. She went to great depths to explain a completely "fictional" story of the Italian Mafia and it was exquisite.
I really appreciated the introduction of the main characters in the beginning and the glossary of key terms. It made it much easier to follow along. I also feel like I learned a lot about Italians and how the Mafia operates (even if it is fictional). She also explained her reasoning for writing things a certain way even though it might have gone against the way it "should have been written" and even though as a reader I couldn't point these things out, I appreciated the explanation in the end.
To be honest this is truly a great story. I read it over the course of 2-3 days so it definitely held my attention. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is because I didn't personally fall in love with the main characters Kate & Enrico. I enjoyed them, but I didn't connect with them at the level where I want to talk non-stop about them to all my book obsessed friends. I believe I won't feel this way in either book 3 or 4 of this series when she goes into depth with the individual stories of 2 other supporting characters - Antonio & Ruggero. I really LOVED both of these characters and I feel that Antonio's story specifically will have me gushing until I am blue in the face.
Either way I don't think anyone would be disappointed after reading this book and would very much be intrigued to read 2, 3, & 4. Ms. Delamar has a definite talent with writing and I am excited to see more of her work.

Enrique is forced from the height of happiness to an almost suicidal depression more than once, because Kate can't trust him...AGAIN.

What a fantastic story teller Dana Delamar is! Revenge was everything I hoped it would be! I honestly can not wait to read the other books in the Blood and Honor series.
Filled with lots of action and suspense, the plot is constantly twisting, keeping you on the edge of your seat. I loved the characters and felt sorry for Kate and Enrico. Thrust into a situation neither of them ever wanted, it is heart warming to see the way they fall in love with each other.
Enrico is still a little lost after the death of his wife of 25 years and when Kate waltzes into his life, he can hardly think of anything else. Kate, an American transplant living in Italy. She is unaware that her husband is part of the mob and quickly learns just how violent and mean he can be. Enrico rescues her and they quickly find that their attraction for each other is mutual.
The characters are extremely well developed and offer insight into their own actions, behaviors and fears. You get just enough background information to where everything makes sense, but doesn't overwhelm you. The plot moved quicker than I imagined it would, and I am thankful that it is a part of a series because I need to read more!

WOW! Dana Delamar, what a wonderful
Journey you took me on. This is one of those books you can't put down, you want it to never end, yet you need to know what happens next. I love when you're able to get the perspectives of both main characters, and the author did an amazing job at making sure you knew & "felt" both sides of this story. Don Lucchesi, Enrico, absolutely loved his character. This man is full of honor, strength, kindness, love. He is torn by the oath he took to be the Capo of the Lucchesi family, & his undying love for Kate. The way he cares & protects & loves her from the very beginning, it's just what us girls always dream of. Their relationship was action packed, never a dull moment with those two. The love making scenes were wonderful, the author nailed it all. I was very angry with Kate many times, but what girl wouldn't be scared to death of entering the world of the unknown, the Mob?!?!?! Absolutely fantastic, would happily read just about anything from Dana. I can't wait for book two, the suspense is killing me!! Highly, highly recommended.

I forget where I initially saw this book mentioned, but the plot sounded interesting, and since it was available cheaply on my Kindle I decided to give it a try. For a self-published debut novel, this book is surprisingly well done. While it would still fall into my “guilty pleasures” category, it is fairly well written and the intricate plot moves along quickly; while the writing is descriptive, it doesn’t lag unnecessarily as in some other novels. The story itself is heartrending yet satisfying, and full of action and frequently interspersed sex scenes. The two things I probably liked the least about this book were the excessive naivety of Kate’s character at times, and the way in which Enrico continually internally deliberated about his feelings toward Kate (indeed, some of this lends depth to his character but there just seems to be a lot of it). The ending brought sufficient resolve to situations, yet left some open to be continued in the future novels of her planned series. I’d recommend this book, and I plan on continuing to read Ms. Delamar’s books.
