She carries more than elemental powers. In ‘Air’, the sequel to ‘Water’ of the Akasha Series, Kaitlyn has a secret. One she won’t be able to hide much longer. As the strongest Gaia the planet has ever seen, she must face mankind’s greatest enemy as he campaigns for ‘One Less: Depopulation’. Everything depends on Kaitlyn fully embracing her role as Gaia. Her family. The Seven. The Earth. Something has to give, and it won’t be Kaitlyn.

I got a copy for review in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this book. It is even better than the first book. I really liked the world and the story was really great. I liked that Terra Harmony created her own genre, eco-fantasy, and such an original story with this series. Where Water was still a bit of an introduction to the world, Air takes us right into the story. Kaithlin is pregnant and the Seven wants to find and Shawn. But Shawn has his own plans and plans.
This book has a fantastic story and I enjoyed every minute of it. I have to admit that some parts where a bit slow paced, but the story kept interesting and I just wanted to keep reading. And I really like Terra harmony’s writing style. The story is also pretty unpredictable, I was again and again surprised by twists I didn’t see coming.
The only min point of this story was the fact that Kaithlin is pregnant and this limits her ability to do certain things. So this book contains less action and less tromance and more dealing with her pregnancy. I also think that sometimes the focus of this book was a bit too much on Kaithlin and her pregnancy.
The characters develop some more in this book and I really liked most of them. We get to see more of Alex in this book and I really liked him. We are also introduced to some new characters and of course we get to know more about Kaithlin and Micah. They again have obstacles to overcome in their relationship. I liked seeing how the characters developed and changed in this book.
I just really like this story. It is a story I keep thinking about and I really want to read the rest of this series and read what happens next. It is such an interesting world and a great story. What I also like is that it is obvious that the author spend much time researching facts, there are real events that happened to which is referred in this book and this makes it even more believable, even though it is a fantasy story.
To conclude: I really liked this book, it was even better than Water and I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the story and seeing the characters develop. The only thing I didn’t like was the focus on Kaithlin’s pregnancy, but I understand that this is an important part of the book. I would surely recommend this series to people who like original fantasy stories or even people who care about saving the world, because this story is a strange combination of both interests.
NOTE! This review will contain spoilers if you haven’t read first book in series Water!
Although this book has it’s ups and downs it is really good sequel after Water. In water focus was on elements more than realtions between people. We still contionue to discover new things about elements and here the focus is on air. Just to explain, even thoug everybook in series is named after one of the elements, it doesn’t necesary mean that whole book is only focused on that element. Focus is always on all of them and balance between them. So as I was saying this book is a bit different, because here story tells about Kaitlyn’s feelings and her condition. In Air the story continues. After saving Kaitlyn, Micah and the rest of the team is trying to firnd Shawn. They’re back home and they’re trying to do their best to find him. For Kaitlyn things are harder than usual. She’s been thriugh a lot, but also she has one more thing to carry and that is her baby. She is trying to hide it, but she can hide it for long. Soon enough Micah finds out and things have to change for her. We also meet Alex better here, btw he is really great character in this book. After a lot of things they are going to face with their biggest enemy. What make this book really good is that you never know what’s coming next. Really a lot of things in this book I couldn’t imagine. One of them is the end. It’s completely logical and reasonable but still I didn’t see that coming. One little thing that could have been better (if you ask me) is the relationship between Kaitlyn and Micah. I miss emotions there, whereas when I read Shawn’s name I have no problem with killing him over and over again in my head. All in all, this is still great and unusually series for me. Therefore I can’t wait to get my arc of Fire!
After experiencing through the jaw dropping cliffhanger in Water, I had my jaw reset and was too excited to continue where the story left off, only to have another cliffhanger that had me running to the doctors again.
If Water was amazing, Air pushed the boundaries of epic. I thought it was impossible to love the story and the characters even more, but Air proved me wrong. I learned to not expect anything when I'm reading Terra's books because she will completely blindside you! One thing I love about the characters, especially Kaitlyn and Micah, is how impulsive they could be. You could hardly figure out their next move and certainly not from the Queen of Spontaneity - Kaitlyn. I had numerous Oh-my-god moments throughout the book and the story was a book of unpredictable twists.
Originality, the prime reason why The Akasha series appeals to me so much. I was impressed by the new terms that was introduced in Water, I just couldn't understand how Terra could come up with the unthinkable . I mean, who installs GPS in trees? Terra Harmony raised environmental awareness in style! And that is what I liked about it.
Kaitlyn has officially become my idol. Impulsive, kickass and straightforward, Kaitlyn is what I am looking for in a heroine. I like her attitude of 'No Bullshitting' and 'Cutting straight to the point', she was not afraid to stand up for herself or take things into her own hand. After the shocking announcement that she was pregnant, Kaitlyn changed from a young lady becoming a Gaia to a mum. A transition that I never expected to see from Kaitlyn. I love the extreme measures that Kaitlyn would take for the safety of her baby.
And Terra ended the story with one of her signature style. CLIFFHANGER. I swear, someone should present an award to Terra with the title 'Queen of Cliffhangers'. If you hate cliffhanger endings, then I believe Terra could change your mind. I am not exaggerating.
Terra makes elemental powers sounds so cool. What's not to like about the book?
Kaitlyn is hiding something huge from everyone, she’s pregnant and the only one that knows is Micah’s sister Susan. Not by her choice though Susan’s element is water so she can tell that Kaitlyn is Pregnant. In Water book 1 Shawn had kidnapped and raped her repeatedly while holding her hostage so she's afraid that the baby may be Shawn's and not Micah's. That’s one of the reasons she is hiding the baby. Since she refuses to tell anyone about the baby she still has to go out on missions hoping nothing happens to the baby or herself. When an Air element comes to stay with them he learns of her secret very fast, and has promised to keep it. But what happens when the person you thought was your friend betrays you in the end? What would you do to keep you and your baby safe from everyone who may or may not want one of you dead? The book certainly picked with action, betrayals, secrets revealed, battles, humor and even more romance! The cliffhanger Is a real killer though and I am dying for the Next book in the series! I loved Air and I hope that you will fall in love with it as much as I did.
I realy do love this series, this book is even beter than the first with more action, an amazing showdown with the 'bad guys' and an ending that left me longing for the next book and wishing i could read it now rather than having to wait untill october. Kaitlyn is the type of strong female lead characters that i love in books, not content to sit and let other people fight her battles for her shes tough and willing to fight even heavily pregnant. This book is great and i am going to be eagerly awaiting the release of 'fire' in october.
Holy cliffhanger!!! I almost screamed when I got to the end of the page and it said "to be continued"!!!!!!!!! It is just not fair to have to wait!!! There was not quite as much action in this book, but that doesn't mean it was boring!!! I loved learning more about the characters and their relationships with each other!!! Another great read from Terra and I CANNOT wait for the next book!!!
This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest and independent review.
I read this book straight off the back of reading book one and absolutely loved it. Whereas the first book was slow to get going due to being introduced to the powers/world, this book was all go from the start.
I really loved the pacing of this book. There was lots of action at the end but the whole book was full of the tension of the impending showdown. Even in the down times, when the team were merely researching or preparing, I felt on edge, anxious to see what was going to happen next and if they’d be alright. There was drama and intrigue throughout the book and the feeling of an ever present danger. The final action scene was brilliantly written. I felt how afraid yet determined they were and the confusion and horror of the battle. Oh and wow the ending took me by surprise!
As I mentioned in my review of the first book, the world in which these books is written is unique to me. Kaitlyn is a Gaia who can control the elements with the ultimate aim of maintaining/returning a balance in the environment. In book two there was a lot more detail in how Kaitlyn used her powers and the descriptions were powerful and beautiful. We learn even more about the powers in this book but at no point did I feel information overload. I think it was because of the way Kaitlyn learnt, through experience, experimentation and the Shades.
Kaitlyn is my hero! Or I guess I should say heroine. She is tough and determined but also can be moody, lazy and jealous. I love that! No perfect little ‘always does the right thing but hard done to’ main character. Sometimes she says something out loud that is a continuation of her own stream of consciousness and leaves everyone looking at her confused. It’s great, her thoughts and words amuse me so much. You know what she’s thinking and feeling, her priorities and heart are clear, but I was still taken by surprise by her actions. She is no push over, just a tough cookie determined to protect what’s most precious to her. There’s a lot of growth in her character in this book but the essentials remain; she’s independent, full of spirit and determination and loves food. Hey don’t we all?!
Shawn however is one evil *&$*&*% and clearly somewhat unhinged. Rarely have I been so truly disgusted at a bad guy in a series before. I can see why Kaitlyn is so terrified of him and I was so anxious about him reaching her throughout the book. I couldn’t believe how easily her friends put her in danger and was at times furious with them for it! I have to congratulate the author on the character because I truly am scared of him and it takes a lot to scare me.
As for the other characters, I found Alex, Cato and Susan well developed side characters but would like to see more of Micah. He seems a little volatile, sometimes pushy and other times affectionate with Kaitlyn. I want to fall in love with him and I’m pleased he isn’t some perfect gentleman, I like a bit of spice and grit to my main characters, but I would like to see more love between them.
In summary, this is a brilliant second book in the series and I can’t wait to read book 3! We learn so much more about the elements and about Kaitlyn who is one seriously strong no nonsense girl. I felt anxious for her through most of the book but she is just great and I love her. If you haven’t read book 1 and are unsure about it because of the slow start, please persevere, you will be rewarded. Book one ends dramatically and book two continues where it finishes, and after the way book two ends I can tell book three will be just as exciting.
**PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT READ WATER YET, THERE WILL BE A COUPLE OF SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW**
Ahh...Terra Harmony. Terra's writing is a breath of fresh AIR (see that? what I did there? ok enough of the corny jokes ;) ) Let me just put this out there, Terra Rocks! Her eco-fantasy Akasha series is now half way through with the release of Air. The first book Water totally blew me away, Air amazed me. Such an interesting combination of eco and fantasy that is working quite well.
Air picks up right where Water left off. Kaitlyn is getting to that uncomfortable point of her pregnancy, no one knows but Susan. Shawn is still up to his dirty plans. Kaitlyn and Micah are barely speaking. Kaitlyn is having weird dreams. Then Vayu shows up and no one seems quiet happy to see him. I personally got a kick out of him, for about the first half of the book anyways. So, The Seven is hot on Shawn's trail but always seem to be one step behind. Then they get word of a wildfire in Australia, and knowing it is the work of Shawn, head there to do their thing.
When Micah AND Shawn find out about Kaitlyn being preggo, I was cracking up. Terra's writing is so descriptive and engaging I could see this scene playing out in my head as I was reading. Not sure who the baby belongs to (remember Shawn had kidnapped Kaitlyn in Water and was a naughty little man) Micah steps up, once again proclaiming his love for Kaitlyn and the baby.
Left at the Chakra with Alex while the rest of the team are following leads, Kaitlyn has a lot of preparing, research, and studying to do. Which also leaves some time for her to get into mischief, what else would you expect?
We also get to know Susan a little better, which made me really happy cause I've really grown to like her. She is a God-send for Kaitlyn, the sister she never had.
The show down occurs in the last few chapters. I am not going to go into details. I don't want to spoil it for anyone. The ending had me so mad (again, you will have to read it to understand why) but needing more...STAT! (Don't worry, I gave Terra a little nudge ;) )
Terra has created an awesome story line with characters that come to life within the pages. Water was easy to read but filled with action, suspense, and laugh out loud moments. Air was no different. Actually it was better because you are familiar with the story line. I feel like I know these characters personally. This is my favorite series by a female author (yes even over Amanda Hocking, who is in a close second). Go ahead and give this series a try, I don't think you will be disappointed!
Air went by a lot faster than Water did – I read the two books back to back and the nice thing is that Air picks up pretty quickly after Water finishes.
A lot of the issues I had with Air are the same ones I had with water – Kaitlyn forgives Micah way too easily for some things – such planning on letting Shawn kidnap her again without her knowing, even though she has obviously been so traumatized that she cannot event talk to him about what happened while she was trapped.
Kaitlyn’s pregnancy was the main focus in this book, and the unborn child was an interesting character who was actually able to actively affect the plot in a lot of ways. The only problem was that by focusing on the pregnancy it changed the tone of the book and then to have K suddenly go and run around on a mission when she is 8 months pregnant was just plain absurd. I cannot understand how Micah would let that happen.
The beginning of the book started out pretty slow and then suddenly at the end K was heading out to a mission during her 8th month. The pacing in the book was a bit odd to me, but At first the thing with the shades was a bit confusing – I didn’t like the initial description of the event, but I loved what happened with them afterwards – especially Sarah’s little coup d’état.
Overall, it is an interesting series, sometimes some of the plot holes/jumps that are made are frustrating, and I am really not too sure about the relationship between Kaitlyn and Micah (I can see the heat but unlike other literary couples the out-of-bed interactions feel a bit off).
I really hope with the next book that the author fleshes out Micah a bit more, I really do want to like him, but his actions are just making it a bit hard (one minute he plans on using her as bait to capture their enemy without her knowing the next he tells her they are getting married the next day and then goes off for four months while she is pregnant). I feel like Kaitlyn is a well developed character and as the series goes on we are slowly learning more about the secondary characters, but I wish we knew more about them now so that I would care about them more, right now the only one that I particularly like is Alex and even then most of his scenes are spent reemphasizing that he is the best friend/shoulder to lean on/tech guy. It is just frustrating that Alex is always worried about Kaitlyn doing something dangerous and Micah disapproving only to have Micah go and put her in worse situations.
Again a cliffhanger. AHHHH!!! And I have to wait for the next one. Harmony has done such a great job with this new world. I can't get enough of it. The read is so engaging that it's over before you even know it. Kaitlyn's strength amazes me, she leans on Micah too much I think but as soon as he leaves she steps up. I look forward to the next book so I can find out who is the father of her baby, and see what other messes she gets into.
* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review *
So I decided to give this series a second chance but unfortunately, it didn't get any better and left me somewhat more confused. A big chunk of the book is a story about a woman who's missing her boyfriend and mulling around the compound playing with her magical abilities for this epic battle. Nothing too exciting about that...the last few chapters of the book however, started to pick up but it was a little too late for me.
Some things that bothered me in the book:
- I still didn't feel the connection between Kaitlyn and Micah.
- The Shades and the athame.
- Cato. I just don't get you...are you trying to help save the world or not? Pick a team!
- Kaitlyn. Oh Kaitlyn...
So all in all, I gave it a one star that goes to the supporting characters Alex and Susan. That along with the author's originalilty. Sorry, I really tried, but this one wasn't for me.
(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to author Terra Harmony.) This is book 2 in the ‘Akasha’ series, and picks up a short while after the end of book 1 ‘Water’. **Warning – may contain some unavoidable spoilers for book 1** Kaitlyn has a major life change coming up following the events of the previous book, and she’s not sharing it with the rest of the team, even though they’re going to notice sooner or later.
Instead the team are focusing on tracking down Shawn, and working out exactly what he’s up to, and exactly where he is. This proves to be even more difficult than they expected, but with Shawn leaving them clues to his location, are they walking into a trap? When will Kaitlyn’s secret come out though? How will everyone react? What exactly is Shawn planning? And is there a method to his madness?
This was a great second instalment to this series, and once again blended a mix of different ideas.
Kaitlyn has matured following the events of the previous book, but she remains a real fire-cracker, and continues to fight for her own independence and what she wants to do. Kaitlyn is definitely not one to back down from a fight, and although she does sometimes avoid difficult conversations, this isn’t to her own detriment.
There wasn’t quite so much romance in this book, partly due to a secret that Kaitlyn was hiding, but Micha persisted in protecting and fighting for Kaitlyn, and it was obvious how much they cared for one another. There was once again both consensual and non-consensual sex scenes in this book, but again I thought that the author handled these more difficult scenes well, and managed to get this part of the storyline over without making the reader feel uncomfortable, which for me was important.
Once again this book had a unique mix of storylines, with romance, action, magic, and an environmental message. I felt that the science parts of this story were much more ingrained than they were in the first book, and fitted in with the other storylines really well. It can’t be easy to mix such different themes together in one story, but the author seems to not only manage this, but to actually improve on it in this second book.
There was a fair bit of action at the end of this book, along with some twists, an unexpected death, and a very strange and risky decision made by Kaitlyn right at the end. I’m not sure where the author is going with this, but it will certainly be interesting to see what happens to Kaitlyn in the next instalment ‘Fire’. Overall; a pretty unique series, with romance, action, magic, and the elements/environment, and a feisty leading lady. 8 out of 10.
If you've not read Water, book 1, it's probably best that you don't read this review as it's likely to spoil the story a bit. This is certainly one series that you need to read in order.
In this book, Kaitlyn is hiding the fact that she is pregnant from everyone except Susan, Micah's sister, because being that Susan's element is water, she could tell that Kaitlyn was pregnant. In fact, Susan was the one to initially tell Kaitlyn. But in book 1, Water, Shawn had kidnapped and raped her repeatedly while holding her hostage so she's afraid that the baby may be Shawn's and not Micah's. That's one of the reasons she keeps putting off telling anyone, especially Micah. With a little help from Susan, however, the secret is revealed not only to Micah but to Shawn as well.
Now Kaitlyn not only has to deal with being pregnant but her and the rest of the Seven are trying to locate Shawn and put a stop to his plans. While trying to train for battle and study up on anything that will help her learn how to control the other elements that she's not very familiar with, Kaitlyn does something that she thinks will help her greatly, but it has some negative side effects she didn't expect.
I felt that the book started out a little slow, perhaps, but apart from that I absolutely loved the interaction between Kaitlyn and Alex, who is the only non-magical one of the bunch. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things Alex did or said. As for Kaitlyn, there was a time or two where I felt like she needed smacked up side the head for the things that she'd do that ended up backfiring on her. After all, she's pregnant and although she cares very much about her baby, she did things that really could have been harmful.
The book certainly picked up though and was a roller coaster of a ride. It's action packed with betrayals, secrets revealed, a serious battle, humor, romance, and a pretty major cliffhanger. I very much enjoyed the story and can't wait to read the third book in the series.
NOTE: I received a copy of Air from the author in exchange for a review of book 1 in the Akasha series, Water.
The greatest compliment I can give this book is that I downloaded "Fire" (the third book in the series) the minute after I finished this one. I was totally floored by the ending and absolutely have to know what will happen next, which I will be doing right after I finish this review ;o).
I guess I should back up a bit though and tell you why I liked this book. Like "Water" before it, "Air" is well-written and the characters engaging. I have learned to expected the unexpected with this series, so I'm always curious what will happen next. This is a pleasant change from the many books I've read recently where I can almost guess the ending not long after the beginning. Definitely not the case here. There's no telling where the author will go in the next one, but I'm not waiting to find out!
***I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Awww... I just finished Air and I cant believe it ended like that. Once again with the cliff hangers! Why couldnt Kaitlyn figure out earlier that she was in labor before she decided to run off on her own. I really like Micah he is such a sweetheart why cant they just go off together? Now I have to patiently wait for Fire to come out. Ugh can October come faster please?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What the heck is this? Was the author serious about this book? Does she even like Kaitlyn, or women, for that matter?
I personally thought that Air was worse than Water. Kaitlyn is not a likable character at all and I was starting to enjoy the fact that horrible things were happening to her. I wanted them to continue so that she would be nothing more than a broken shell that could be rebuilt into someone that I would like to get to know.
Kaitlyn is becoming more and more mean and obnoxious as the book progresses. She wants all these things and yet she is almost practically unwilling to do things for others. She is extremely selfish and out of control and yet people let her act this way, like she is a wayward child that no one wants to control.
When people do not do what she wants, she uses magic to control them, throw things at them, hurt them and everyone is okay with this. (Shaking my head. I would have toned down her powers or bound them if she wasn’t able to control herself).
What was the jealousy deal with her and the maid when she was on the island of Reunion? Her actions were ridiculous, over the top and completely uncalled for – Micah should have had a better reaction than that and he should have told her off, not sweep the incident under the rug so that she would think it was okay to act that way again.
I do not see how Kaitlyn and Micah are in love. He is often mad at her or she goes out of her way to avoid him. They act awkward toward each other and seem more like colleagues with a sex urge than anything else. Yes, they have sex and lots of it. Sometimes we see that Micah may have deeper feelings towards her but then he pushes her away for extended periods of time or she does it to him and they are both okay with it.
I especially found it odd that everyone was okay with Micah leaving the very pregnant Kaitlyn behind on Chakra while he goes off with the team to track down Shawn. There are no emotional scenes, no tearful goodbyes. He tells her the plan, tells her that he would be leaving the next day and then he was gone before she woke up. Then, everyone else leaves (Cato and Susan) leaves Kaitlyn with non-magical Alex and a handful of workers.
A month goes by and Kaitlyn has no desire to talk to Micah over the secure radio system that Alex had hooked up. She actually makes herself unavailable on purpose every time Alex makes contact with the group. No one else finds it strange that she does not want to speak to her hand-fasted husband, the one that she is supposed to be madly in love with, the one who can make her feel better and the only arms should would want around her and protect her? And she does not want to talk with him? Sorry, not buying their “love” that the author is trying to push on us. What love? All I see is avoidance, sudden bursts of romance, meanness, more avoidance, sex, another short “love” scene, meanness, etc.
Michah and Kaitlyn were apart for four months during her pregnancy while he and the team were hunting down Shawn. That’s a LONG time to choose to be away from someone you need to protect, from someone you claim to love and not to talk to that person on a regular (or even semi regular) basis.
The only characters I actually liked in Air were Alex and Susan. They had more personality and more likability than all the rest of the characters. Unfortunately, they turned into “yes men” many times when they were around Kaitlyn, but overall, I did enjoy what they brought to the story.
What is going on with all of this forced sex and rape? Is Kaitlyn’s body just meant to be used as a free-for-all? Kaitlyn gets raped by Shawn several times in book 1 and now Micah forces her to have sex with him, although with him, it’s okay because she is actually lusting after his body. In this book, Kaitlyn froze while having sex with Micah and basically he told her that it was too late, he could not stop and he just kept going. Kaitlyn then got her desire for Micah back on track and the sex continued. It’s also okay for her to be barely clothed or naked around other people but no on else does the same. It’s as though no one, not even Kaitlyn, has respect for her body and people can just use it at will and for whatever they want.
I have no idea what was going on with that whole athame, subconscious cave with all the Shades essences hovering, swimming and hanging around. It really made no sense to me. What the heck was this cave place? Are all of these things “really” living within her? How are they able to take over her body? If the souls of these Shades moved on, how could the “memories” of these people be able to have current personalities and speak to Kaitlyn? How are they able to change from a gaseous form to a “human” form if they are only memories? How is the athame able to hold all of these personalities inside of it? How is Kaitlyn able to take over the athame of it is attached to Shawn? How did Shawn get a hold of this athame in the first place? None of this seems logical.
As a side note: where did all of those toffee-nut cookies come from? I thought there was just the one package left that Alex had hidden by the fig-date things but there seems to be an endless supply for the pregnant Kaitlyn who often throws guilt onto Alex and makes him give her his cookies. Selfish *itch.
I really feel as though the author is trying to push the environmental facts on the reader. There are spurts of information that are snuck into the novel that seems like sneaky school lessons inserted into pleasure reading. At times, I thought it was a bit preachy and I could tell that it was the author’s thoughts and not those of her characters.
The book, after 50% or so is starting to get to be a chore to get through. I constantly find myself getting tired, getting a headache or even falling asleep after reading a few pages. I had to force myself to read on and finish it. I have to say that I was not impressed.
The ending wasn’t even a real ending and it was immediately followed by an excerpt of book 3. Talk about a way to suck you into buying the next book. I am so annoyed with this series so far.
I give this book one star. As of the end of book two, I give this series 1.5 stars.

English Review: After the great first part which could persuades and inspire me completely, I just had to read the next part. And I’ve been glad about the continuation, because there was a little cliffhanger at the end of the book ‘Water’. When I finally get my hands on ‘Air’ to start reading the book, I was a little disappointed, because it was different than I had expected.
To one side the plot starts some time after the events from part 1, but without much of important thing happened in the world or with the characters. What I find extremely odd, if one remember which relation Kaitlyn and Micah had almost at the end, before the thing with Shawn happened, and that Micah has saved her afterwards. After that you think that they would talk about it afterwards, or not? But Kaitlyn didn’t and she still couldn’t tell him or the others, that she is pregnant. And funnily enough she holds particularly to Micah an emotional, as well as a physical distance, which was never so big, as in this time.
Also Micah reveals only too little about him or he didn’t makes obvious steps toward Kaitlyn, what I found a great pity. And then suddenly there came the big revelation and from one second to the other, there also came the big, inexplicable turn in their love relationship; when the action all around Shawn and his bad underground organization tapers to a point and the quick and above all complete turnabout of the relationship of Micah and Kaitlyn takes place, which was for me too quickly and also a little illogical. For weeks there was no real conversation between the two main characters and suddenly Micah is a completely other person and devote all love to Kaitlyn, with all consequences and relations. And what is Kaitlyn doing? Of course not the right thing! And this happens not only in this situation, but also throughout the whole book and particularly at the end, I wanted to punch or shake her so long till she comes to her senses again. Unfortunately a reader can’t intervene in the events of books and thus I was left watching her decisions silently and despairing.
Of course in this part there aren’t only bad things between Micah and Kaitlyn, but there were also really some good, very romantic and crackling scenes of them, which could also score with eroticism. But nevertheless, I’ve not liked the end at all. I almost wanted to start crying or scream or smash something – which on the other side, however show here, that I was completely taken by the characters and that I’ve felt and suffered with them. And that characters not always act like we readers wishes for, is natural, because people also often don’t act like they should. Therefore you could say that the characters and the plot course were realistic and authentic; with people, which make mistakes, act illogically or aren’t perfect and learn from it – hopefully! ;)
What has disturbed me also, beside these points, was the fact that the middle section was to be read a little tenaciously. For me the part with Alex was too extended and drown-out, and in overall the second part couldn’t hold the same tension and speed, like ‘Water’.
As I’ve already mentioned, I’m not happy with the end of the second book at all, and the only bright spot is, that I hope and know, that the author will give us a positive and reasonable end after the fourth part – so, at least we still have two more books, for which we can looking forward to and I really hope sooo much, that after all the up and downs, we’ll get our deserved happy-ending!
Und was tut Kaitlyn?
I'm almost certainly not the intended audience, but I'll be the odd voice out here.
Years ago, I had read Water, the first book in the series. I didn't pick up Air for a long time, so I forgot almost everything that happened in the first book, along with my reasons for not immediately continuing the series.
This book read more like a self-insertion sex fantasy than like an actual book. I was expecting Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I instead got a very clear picture of the author's ideal lover with some magic thrown in. At the end of the book, the main character appears to make a spur-of-the-moment decision that completely contradicts previous thought processes and events. The most prevalent fear of the protagonist is repeatedly demonstrated to be assuaged throughout the story, including at the end of the book, but the MC takes this drastic action anyway completely out of left field at that point. It feels like the author needed to come up with some way to throw a cliffhanger in and make the ending more interesting, and wrote this at the last moment without going back to foreshadow or make any consistency checks.
If "self-insertion sex fantasy with magic thrown in" sounds like your jam, and you're a member of the finer sex, this is the book (and the series) for you. Unfortunately, this is where I'll take my leave, so I'm unable to provide insights into the remaining half of the series.
Kaitlyn is carrying a secret that only one other person knows about. She is pregnant but not entirely sure who the daddy is. It could be Micah’s, the one guy who she cares the most for. Or on the other hand it could be Shawn's, the one that kidnapped and raped her. Thankfully she has Micah’s sister, Susan, to confide in. Kaitlyn will have to tell Micah soon though, because you can only hide a growing belly for so long.
One of my most favorite scenes in the book is when Micah and Shawn both realize that Kaitlyn is pregnant. Wonderfully, wonderfully done. And what happened soon after had me grinning so big. Only thing is I am not sure how I feel about Micah. I mean I really like him but I am not crazy about his ‘You woman, me caveman’ attitude. He is very hot and cold when it comes to Kaitlyn and how he reacts with her. One moment he is all caring and loving and then the next he is acting all Neanderthal. So less caveman, more feelings and Micah would be prefect.
I will say I think I loved AIR more than WATER. And that is really saying something because I LOVED WATER. AIR is not as action packed as WATER was but I think that is what I adored about it. I enjoyed the pace the book took and how during the story Kaitlyn was able to learn more about who she is and what she can do. I also loved the addition of the Shades to the story. Even though I was a bit hesitant about them at first I thought the whole idea was genius.
I will say that this author is not afraid to push the envelope. So if you are skirmish when it comes to rape scenes…then thread carefully, there is one in here. Though it is not as horrific as with book one, rape is rape.
AIR is an incredible read that had me hanging on to each and every word Harmony wrote. In fact, I am so excited to read FIRE soon so I can see what played out after this crazy cliffhanger we were given here in AIR. I totally recommend this series if you are looking for something different than what’s out there and love a good suspenseful read that is peppered with romance.
This ebook was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I have to give this book 3 stars because the plot plods along in comparison to the first book, Water.
Air picks up immediately where the first left off. Kaitlin's story continues as the secret of her pregnancy is first concealed, then revealed. As the group is preparing for the encounter and possible elimination of Shawn, secrets abound. There are a few missions, in which a pregnant Kaitlin travels, that are action packed, but not satisfying. The rest of the group leaves Alex and Kaitlin to research Shawn's location at the Chakra as the rest also do their part to prepare the culimnation or war.
Through the discovery of Shawn's belongings in a hidden room, Kaitlin realizes that the athame that orginally hurt her and posed a fear within her had revealed a secret within it. She discovers that the spirits of the powerful Gaias before her were trapped inside and she could communicate and learn from them. As she trains herself to work with them to have all the Elements within her power, many mishaps occur until she must leave. Even then she is unsure of whether or not she is ready.
Kaitlin must risk everything-herself and the unborn child within her-to take down evil Shawn and save the world (with a little help from her friends).
Although this one had the action and fantasy elements, I missed the original flow and deep characterization, especially seeing the naivete through her "eyes"; which left the reader to piece the facts together. The pacing of the story was slower than the first. It just left me needing more something...
However, the cliffhanger ending after the epic battle scene was agonizing. Of course, I can't wait to read the final novel.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Well, shit! If you think that after the failure of the first book, the second one was going to be the same, you are wrong. This book gave the nerves, but not the simple ones. I was in the border of a nerves attack. So many feeling in this book made me bipolar. One time I was happy for all the love, other I was sad and then, at the end, I'm pissed. I'm really pissed at the end right now, so no talking about that.
"Air is the breath of life." That's the motto of this book. That's how its name came from. First came Water, now comes Air and then comes Fire. Not because that's the name of the third book. Because that's how the story will be, if you read it you will understand. I wonder if Katie will meet a Fire Elemental.
So, our characters are the same one, except for a new one. Vayu. He didn't appeared in the first book, but it was mentioned. He is a Shu, an Air Elemental. Very cocky and all, but he is in the side of Shawn. I knew it! He was very strange, so I did had my doubts about him. The relationship between Micah and Katie becomes more strong and I was very happy about that. Now that there is a child in the middle and no one knows the real father. But, seriously, that girl must be Micah's daughter. Just for this reason, he have a connection with her. Like they communicate in their minds, just like with Katie. Tell me if that doesn't mean that she is his daughter, like, hello!
If can survive the totally failure of the first book, then I totally recommend you this one. Certainly not my favorite end, but I'm never happy about them. Let's see what will happen to our friends in the next books.
First of all let me say I need to thank Laura Carter for suggesting this book to me. I had never heard of this series (Akasha Series) and I really enjoyed reading them. To start off this book is the second in the series and it is just as enjoyable as the first book, Water by Terra Harmony. Sometimes the second book of a series is a little tough and this one had its moments but Air is giving you so much information that is needed in order to understand what is going on and to get you geared up for the third book (By the way, major cliff hanger in this book, didn’t see it coming). Now time to give you a summary of Air by Terra Harmony (2nd book of the Akasha Series). This book starts off where the Water ended. Kaitlyn has just discovered she is pregnant and she is uncertain who the father is (Micah or Shawn). At first Susan is the only one who knows, but during an encounter with Shawn and Micah they both discover her secret. Upon this discovery, Micah has become her rock/protector and is very understanding (which says a lot because their relationship has had its moments). While Kaitlyn is trying to embrace the Gaia attributes she soon discovers “the shades” (which are previous Gaia’s that live in her via the athame). However, the shades are very strong and resilient and working with them comes with a price. A price that could jeopardize herself, her child and the people around her. I give this book 4 out 5 stars and I do intend on reading the third book in this series.
I received an eCopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Air is the second book in the Akasha series. It leads directly from the first book. I read this book after reading the previous book (water) and found it to be superior. The characters were much more developed and although they were still flawed I was much more sympathetic to their plight.
The plot line of this story was also more developed and although again most of the action took place in the latter part of the story, it held my attention more. I found some of the plot points in this story hard to follow and also quite unrealistic, the characters do not always appear to know what they want and can be quite contradictory in their actions.
I felt a lot of the concepts were explained in more detail in this book and so it made the story seem more rounded and left me with fewer questions. The story once again ends with a cliffhanger and since I enjoyed this story more than the first I am keen to read the rest of the series in the hope that the stories keep improving.
I found the parts that focused on the environmental issues to be a little bit moralistic and am not sure they really fitted into the storyline. However, the message of 'going green' and protecting our planet should be applauded. I think this is a good series for readers who enjoy slightly spiritual science fiction and those who are interested in the environment.
I really like this series. Although I thought the first book, Water, moved a little slow, it did pick up and I found that I couldn't start Air fast enough. This book has lots of excitement and moves much faster.
Kaitlyn has many struggles in this book and learns more about her powers as a Gaia and what The Seven hopes to accomplish. She learns of betrayal, loyalty and love and in the end a big decision is made.
The one thing that I did not like so far in this series is that the point of view changes in some chapters and often I didn't figure it out until a few paragraphs or page into the chapter. I found myself stopping and re-reading to try to figure out "why Kaitlyn do that?" or "how could she be talking to this person?" when it wouldn't be her point of view at all. Maybe I'm used to other author's putting in notations at the start of new chapters.
The story itself is great and I will continue reading the full series because I couldn't put it down and now after finishing book 3, Fire, I have to know how this story ends. The teaser at the end helps, but it's just that, a teaser. I need the full story! I can't wait for book 4, Earth to come out this Spring!
This is the second book in the Akasha series. You can see my review for Water if you haven't read that one. They really need to be read in order. Air picks up right after Water leaves off. I liked this one better. The first book had the world-building and since that was established, this one had more room for action. I loved the elemental magic and Kaitlyn figuring out how to work all of her powers, finding out what she can do and preparing to face her enemy. Without giving any spoilers, if you read Water, read this one. If you haven't read Water, check it out if you like fantasy stories with action and magical powers.
Wow I did not expect that ending. This book is one that keeps you reading all the way to the end, not only that, I need to find out what's going to happen so I will defiantly be purchasing the next one in the series. I feel this book flowed much better than the first one & you got to know the characters a little bit more. There were a few heart stopping moments that were not expected. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but you do have to read the first in the series to understand what's happening in this one, as this story continues from where water finishes. Thank you very much to the author for my free copy
Air picks up right where Water left off. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it, I wanted to know what would be coming next. This book was much better than the first one. I was glad to see that some of the environmental "education" that seemed out of place in the first one wasn't present here. I am looking forward to reading Fire, and am a little disappointed that it will still be a while before Earth comes out. As a disclaimer, I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. I wish goodreads allowed us do 3.5 stars reviews, that's where I would put this one.
I was given this book to read for an honest review. I went ahead and read the first book so I would have the background to the story. I really enjoyed this book. The first book got off to a slow start but picked up by the end. This book, however, has a lot of action and intrigue in it. I think most of the characters are well developed. I would love to see more depth in Micah and Kaitlyn's relationship. There were some surprises in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Overall, if you are a fan of paranormal reading/romance you really should read this book. I have now read all three books in this series and am anxiously awaiting the fourth!
