Such a great premise, but not the best execution.
This book has it all, a beautiful, untouched submissive, a tender, gorgeous king, a little magic and of course insta-love!
There were parts I liked, but overall it felt VERY rushed. If this author would just take a little more time, things would have been so much better.
But I still enjoyed it. And I will read the next in the series.

Spoiler Ahead This was a short quick read that I liked. Orlin puts himself up for sale as a pet when his parents died and left him broke and homeless. King Aester needs a pet although he doesn't really want one he knows that if he doesn't take one the people under his rule will try to take his kingdom. When Aester first sees Orlin and he knows that he is the one for him. Orlin doesn't know what to expect from his new master he is a virgin with a few secrets if he finds his mate and have sex he will come into his powers. This was a really good book when the king first had sex with his new pet Orlin power comes after and he is not sure that the king believes him and even worse he has a tattoo on his foot that means that he is the king of his planet. When the doctor tries to rape him Orlin defends himself and runs away. While in town Orlin helps a cat lady when a thief steals her purse it is here that the king learns that Orlin speaks many languages knows that it is more to Orlin story about his past. This was a really good book that I wish was longer. This book was well written like all of Ms. Kell's books with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

He doesn’t expect to gain his magical abilities, which is only supposed to happen when he finds his mate. The surprise when he not only discovers his talent but also has the ‘king tattoo’ is significant and the fact his new master doesn’t even believe in magic promises a lot of fun right from the start.
Orlin discovers he is more self-sufficient than he believes. He doesn’t even know how to behave as a pet, and I laughed at his tentative attempts; no real Master would have believed him either. He tends to overreact and get himself into more trouble than should be possible, but that makes for a very entertaining read.

Orlin's Fall, the second book in Kell's Planetary Submissives series, introduces us to Orlin. Unlike Chalice, in Chalice, Orlin puts himself up for sale as a pet because he is broke.
King Aester Fall and his two brothers, Pael and Baelin, are at the auction to find Aester a pet and quick. Seems he's risking the factions declaring him an unfit ruler, even thought he's only taken the reigns of his father's monarchy just three months ago.
As with Chalice, I was impressed with the skillful character and world building Amber was able to accomplish in such a short amount of space. I really wish this one had been a bit longer. I wasn't ready for their story to end. I was very happy to realize that book 3, Zall's Captain, not only features a character I liked from Chalice but is also due out later this month. I look forward to reading more about Kell's Planetary Submissives.
Left with no money and few practical skills, Orlin was going with a time-honored beautiful-people tradition ... and catching himself a sugar daddy. According to house rules, all but ten percent of the money raised in his auction went to Orlin after five years of service.And, he should be worth a pretty penny because he's also a virgin. Although, this is only the case because "the men in his family gained their magical abilities after sex with their mates for the first time."

A man who couldn't see to his bodily needs wasn't ready to rule a kingdom.Neither Pael or Baelin want to rule, so here he was looking for a pet. He was sure this was not the place to find a life partner until Orlin comes onto the stage. When he sees him he knows he must have him. And, it only cost him ten million credits.

A book with a lot of promise but doesn't really deliver strongly enough. It is too surface. I loved the idea - and what is hotter than a man who has to sell himself as a slave even though he might be a King due to poverty? And a King buys him? Hot damn! However here the characters just don't have enough substance. The plot (and it is good) doesn't get fleshed out enough to make it fascinating. I enjoyed the first book in the series and actually this was the one I really wanted to read. Too much fluff - and so little angst. Cover is gorgeous!

Segundo libro de la serie de Sumisos Planetarios, esta vez al menos sé como lucen los personajes, hay más descripciones que en Chalice, los personajes siguen sin tener motivaciones precisamente claras pero reconozco la habilidad de la autora para crear romances hasta cierto punto tiernos.
La historia es simple, un príncipe que no tenía derecho al trono está básicamente en la pobreza así que se vende para que al cabo de cinco años de contrato le den el 90% de lo que pagaron por él y así sale de deudas. En el otro lado esta Aester un rey que necesita una mascota para que se le considere adecuado para ser rey. Trama sencilla pero que da pistas de un conflicto político interesante.
Especialmente porque se da a entender que no todo el mundo lo quiere en el trono porque quiere hacer cambios en las leyes. Lo poco que se ve parece interesante y un drama político se ve interesante y complicado, más aún cuando por cosas de la vida Orlin resulta el heredero al trono.
Todo suena genial, pero el problema yace en la longitud del libro, tiene una trama demasiado ambiciosa para su longitud, son solo 74 páginas, al menos en mi Kindle, no hay espacio para abarcar una trama política tan complicada, especialmente cuando la mitad de estas páginas se usan para la relación entre Orlin y Aester y el sexo.
Hay además kilos de conveniencia de guión, todo sale bien y literalmente le dan invulnerabilidad a Orlin. Por supuesto el amor se da desde el principio y realmente no hay conflictos serios y cualquier insinuación de un problema serio como el médico o el tío se solucionan en un parpadeo y ningún problema trasciende de un par de páginas, literalmente un par.
De nuevo uno sabe lo que se va a obtener de los libros en cuestión aunque esperaba algo más del elemento BDSM considerando que la serie se llama Sumisos Planetarios. Más allá de mencionar el collar o términos como contrato, maestro o mascota; no hay nada más que realmente hable de sumisión o dominación. Nada espectacular la verdad.

Like the first book ('Chalice') this book has a very light BDSM theme. It is so light on the BDSM that I personally do not consider it to be a BDSM story. While I liked the story, I did fell as if it was rushed a little. In my opinion it could have had a little more character development. But, all in all I did enjoy it as a quick, light read.

Awesome!
Despite being short and quick-to-love characters this series is amazing. The characters are easy to love and fun. I wish there was more build up but still worth the read 8/10

I’m mad cause this could have been so good- a wealthy member of the royal family forced into servitude, the fear of his magic being discovered, the realization that he is going to be king, the angst this could have had, and it was all SQUANDERED by terrible execution and writing.

DNF ~60%. Should have never started this one given how much I disliked the first book in the series. All of the same problems: simplistic characters, poor writing, etc.

Immediately after finishing the first book in this series, Chalice, I jumped into this one, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did I like it more, but it was different from the first in interesting ways. Not only are new characters introduced, but different species as well. The BDSM again is light, though there are some elements within the novel. There is also a bit of magic as well, but it manifests in different ways, which blends fantasy into this sci-fi universe in a unique way.
After Orlin’s parents die, he decides to sell himself as a pet. Though he knows his Master will likely not be what he wants, the prospect of a high payout at the end of his contract is enticing to him because he’s lost everything. But when Aester—a king—buys him, he gets much more than he bargained for. And as his luck would have it, the first time he has sex with Aester, his magical powers finally manifest, and he’s horrified by what it means.
Unlike Chalice, Orlin does not have his powers yet. He’s also nowhere near as strong, though his magic is important once it is revealed. I won’t say what it is, as that will ruin a huge part of the story, but once it was revealed I wanted to see how it would play out, and how Aester would react to it. Orlin, like Chalice, is a great character, and I enjoyed reading about him. I felt for him, having lost everything, and I wanted him to be happy. Aester is infinitely more likeable as a Master than Terrin was in the first book. He worships the ground Orlin walks on—or would walk on if pets were allowed to walk—and genuinely cares for the man he feels is his fated mate. I also enjoyed the humorous banter between Aester and his two brothers. It was a relief to read a book about three royal siblings who aren’t at each other’s throats for the crown.
There were many amusing parts of the book, and several where I outright laughed out loud. When Aester first sees Orlin at the auction, he is stunned by his beauty. And his reaction after taking it in is to immediately slam his hand on the buzzer without consulting his brothers…just as every other male in the place does. And thus begins a bidding war. The way in which the author wrote the scene added just enough humor to make what could be an awkward subject more bearable.
I must warn readers that there is a near rape scene in the book, and the suggestion of others, so if this bothers you too much, this book might not be for you. However, it does not continue for very long and all is okay. That said, though it is the second book in a series, I feel you don’t absolutely need to read the first one before this, as the characters are different, but the first is good and short enough that you could easily read both in a day if you are a faster fast reader.

Orlin hopes that life, as a pet, won’t be too bad and after his term of service, he will have the money he needs to start a new life. But, he never expected to be sold to his mate. Aester follows the advice of the seer and goes to the auction where Orlin is on the auction block. The first look he gets of Orlin and he knows he is the one, now he just has to keep him safe.
A cute little novella that provides great entertainment. Orlin has had a lot to cope with, his parents died and left behind huge debts, his extended royal family won’t help him out so he does the only thing that he can think of… he becomes a pet, a nice name for a submission love slave. Orlin isn’t really suited to be a pet, because although he is slightly submissive he has his own way of doing things. That and the whole “fifth in line for the throne” thing, that has given him royal training since birth. Aester is new to his throne and set on doing everything the law says, but his pet is disrupting everything by how he acts; insisting on *gasp* walking and translating with cat people. Before long, it brings Orlin to the attention of Aester’s uncle.
This is an enjoyable light read that is well written. I liked the way that Orlin got into trouble without even trying and that it brought to light to Aester the problems in his Kingdom that he never suspected. And also unearths some unsavory people, who would do him harm. I would have liked to know more about Orlin’s powers as they developed, but it was only a novella ;-) . Aester is a strong character, but he wanted an equal that he could spoil and while Orlin is a submissive he can hold his own and be a strong support to the right man.
You know, I love this series because we have strong characters that are either dominate or submissive but each will have a strong core and they need a partner who is their equal, but also the perfect match to their own personality. I also like the way Amber Kell has written this in the way that although they are Doms and subs, it isn’t in the way that BDSM is usually portrayed. It is more like, their natural personalities have one partner who is slightly more Dominate than the other.
So, if you enjoy science fiction, hot sex, magic and slight danger, hot men, slight D/s relationships and a happy ever after then I have to recommend this to you.

I love this series. I love the idea of it, the new universe, love, love, love it. That being said, these books need to be longer. As I wrote on my review of the first book, the story suffers due to its shorter length. So much happens in so little time that I feel disconnected from the story. I feel like I got just the bare bones of the story, not the fleshed out version I wanted. There are all these conspiracies and plot twists and by the end of the book, I was left feeling lost, like I missed a few chapters. The characters were barely fleshed out and seemed more one-dimensional to me and by the end of the book, I was wondering; why does all this happen? Is there a point to this? It started feeling like the author was only throwing in gratuitous scenes and adventures to make the book seem cooler. Big stuff that seemed like a huge obstacle? Resolved in 4 or 5 pages. Big conspiracy? We find the leader and imprison him and that solves everything.
Now don't get me wrong, I love Amber Kell and her books, but I felt like this one wasn't up to par with others. And if she did like what she did with the Moon Pack series, where each book has a new couple but still mentions previous couples and has a running problem/solution, maybe it would work better. But even then, this series isn't entirely set up to work like that. I would love to see her expand this book and take more time to set scenes up and to resolve them. I wish we could get a better look at the characters, their back stories, how they think, etc. This book could have been a 4 or 5 star book but it didn't deliver. I hope that the third book is better because I do love this series. It's innovative, different, and fun. When Orlin’s parents die leaving him destitute, he figures the only hope he has is to put himself up for sale as a pet. The plus side is that he’ll gain enough money to be set but the downside is that he’ll have to spend five years effectively belonging to someone else. With nothing else to lose, however, things can only go up, right? Aester has never wanted to own a pet but per the laws of his kingdom he has no choice. Its lust at first sight when he see’s Orlin but it isn’t long before he decides he doesn’t just want Orlin for five years but forever. The death of the ruling family on Orlin’s home planet changes things, however, and he may not have a choice about letting Orlin go.
This book moves along the same lines as the previous one in that it was a quick, easy read with a fast romance. I actually liked Orlin’s character; he did what he had to do to survive but he wasn’t afraid to fight for things that he wanted regardless of what other people said. I wish I’d been able to get to know Aester more but he seemed like a decent character, as well. What I didn’t really see was the “ He doesn’t expect to become the one person who changes the views of an entire kingdom” or the “Neither man expects to change the fate of a world much less two of them.” parts of the blurb. What does happen in the book just doesn’t seem to fit either of those parts to me though maybe someone else would see it differently. I really just wanted more from this book; it just seemed like the set up was there but the follow through was lacking. It was still a nice diversion in between doing other things but I would’ve liked it if more had happened.

Three and a half stars!
I had higher expectations for the story. I wanted a little bit more explanation and development of the world Orlin and Aester are from. I really liked Orlin and his need to make things better for those around him. Aester was wonderful in how he cared for Orlin. The best line in the whole book was “Please… Pretty please, Aester, with naked men on top.” I was cracking up so hard there! There were a few plot lines that didn’t really get resolved by the end of the story but they also weren’t overly developed either. This made it hard to tell if they were important. I so want to read more about these two and how they handle ruling two planets together. You could feel their emotions and how deeply they felt for each other. I liked Aester’s brothers. I want to see them get their own happy ending. But the character I enjoyed the most was Styr. You could tell he took his job of guard seriously and cared for Orlin’s well being. I really want him to get a happy ending.

Cute! And such a contrast to the first volume.
Here Orlin is the sneaky one, while Aester’s a deeply good man, honourable and kind and all that nice stuff. The switch is almost disorienting. XD
More action in this one as well. Maybe more mush? I don’t know.
I do know my amusement was not as intense with this volume, but still this proved to be a nice, quick read.

This is the second book in the Planetary Submissives series which I am thoroughly enjoying. Although this is classed as BDSM, it doesn't really tick that box for me, although that is not a bad thing. Some of the funniest parts of the book are when Orlin is trying to be a 'proper' pet although he has no idea what that entails. Aester also doesn't really want a pet but an equal, and this is definitely a good thing because that's what he gets with Orlin.
There is an amazing amount of world and character-building within this short novella, more than enough to satisfy. There were no grammatical errors here that I noticed.
I loved the ending of this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series - Zall's Captain - which features a character from book 1.
Definitely recommended if you want a hint of BDSM, sweet yet sexy sci-fi romance.

There is an amazing amount of world and character-building within this short novella, more than enough to satisfy. There were no grammatical errors here that I noticed.
I loved the ending of this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series - Zall's Captain - which features a character from book 1.
Definitely recommended if you want a hint of BDSM, sweet yet sexy sci-fi romance.

This was a nice addition to the series and could probably read as a standalone although I think it would be best to read the first book before so you know who some of the characters who come around are.
I felt so bad for Orlin at first as he tried to handle his fall from someone who ordered people around to someone being ordered around. However, I loved the way Aester handled him.
This is a really great story even though it is short there is a lot crammed in there, but not too much so that it doesn't work.
I really liked all the characters and the plot. A really great story.

This book just didn't work for me. Unlike the other reviewers, I found the style mediocre at best, aside from Orlin the characters were one-dimensional, and the story was contrived. I liked that Orlin wasn't the typical damsell-in-distress, but the rest was just flat. The bad guys are stupid (and ugly), the good guys are gorgeous (some of them are stupid, too, but that's not my point). At one point I laughed out loud when SPOILER conveniently the whole royal family was murdered and Orin suddenly next in line for the throne ("anybody with a claim, go to the castle"). Sorry, no.

Esta historia es más que dramática, y todo gracias al hermoso *nótese el tono sarcástico* tío del protagonista, aún me sorprenden un poco cuando aparecen personajes tan viles.
Orlin y Aester hacen una pareja perfecta, y me encanta como Aester mima a cada instante a su amante. Al final, conociendo el origen de Orlin y lo que se espera de él creo que es cuando más se observa el amor entre ambos, porque se enfrentan al futuro unidos.
Creo que Amber ha creado un mundo bastante interesante con todas sus razas, costumbres y planetas. Recomendable.

Excellent writing like always. She does know how to play with words. Plot wise: predicable. Entertaining enough for an easy read but there were no twists and turns, no conflict between the two main lovers, nothing to really engage me at all.
Otherwise, I would mark it an easy way to pass the time. I did enjoy it; loved curling up with it after a long day at work and it was definitly a better way to spend my time than listen to my actual lecture! LOL

3.5 stars - I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a penniless royal looking for a "sugar daddy" and the young king looking for a pet to fulfill his country's requirements. Because of the length of the story, the romance and suspense story lines both wrapped quickly, but it was still a fun read by one of my favorite authors.

Second in the series; this story isn't related to the first; Orlin decides to put himself up for sale because he is broke.
Another quick read with enjoyable characters, with very light BDSM. My problem with this series after reading the first two books is the length; I really feel that the story and characters could be fleshed out some more.
