Phenomenal job Suza! After reading the Savannah Coven series, I expected "She Who is Hidden" to have a similar feel out of habit. I was pleased to discover that this book had a feel of its own and the strong character development supported the storyline. I wanted more at the end of the book not because the story had more but because I felt bereft that the story had to end. Karen has a story to unfold and I am so excited for that potential. Now I have an overwhelming desire to become an archaeologist!!!
Suza Kates has done an exceptional job in writing She Who is Hidden. With the depth and details within you can tell Suza Kates did her research and did it well. The plot of She Who is Hidden, is the search for the lost Queen Hatshepsut, the female Pharaoh of Egypt. Her reign was almost eliminated from the histories, but for her lover Senmut who left hidden clues as to where he secreted her remains to for keeping her safe on into the afterlife. An evil cult, Kherep Amun seek her remains to help them unleash evil upon the world. Follow Erica Conner and Agent Matt Pierce on a dangerous journey against the cultists, as they fight to find and unravel the clues left by Senmut to locate the final resting place of Hatshepsut. Suza Kates has done a wonderful job in presenting historical info in an interesting and easy to read way without overwhelming the story or the romance. The descriptions of the places they go are so well done it is easy to feel as if are actually with Erica and Agent Pierce on their journey. She Who is Hidden is a wonderful story and I would highly recommend this book to others.
A great book from Suza Kates. I liked the SC books, but this is so much better. Well researched. A believble storry about ancient Egypt as well as a gripping race to find relics, before the bad guys. I raced through the book. Always wanting to know if they would make it, or die them selves or their friends at the hands of maniacs, before doing so. I highly recomend this book to anyone who likes historical books, high speed criminal books or just a great love story.
I really enjoyed reading She Who is Hidden from the beginning to end. She holds your interest all the way through. If you like reading about Egyptian history with some fiction thrown in, mystery and romance ... this is the book for you. This is the perfect book to curl up with on the weekend.
Loved this book. The interaction between the two main characters felt very plausible. I really enjoyed Erica's character, smart, strong, has her own mind...excellent female lead.
This book started of a bit slow in fact I was struggling to keep continuing to read. Then bbn all of a sudden a page took hold to me and then I had problems putting this down. I was captivated until the very last page. Thank you Ms Suza Kate's. This book wants me to now want to do more research and check out more of Queen Hatshepsut . She sounds like a lady before her time.
The best part about this book is how well researched it was and how smartly it was written.
The worst part was the way the relationship developed between the characters.
I liked them both individually, but together they just didn't do it for me. Then again, I'm not into the whole "I hated you on first sight because I was really attracted to you on first site and now I resent you because I lost control of my feelings and my self at first site."
But the plot, the mystery, the relics, the search - all so smart and well done, I had fun reading the book and wanted to know what happened.
Overall I really enjoyed the historical references and the excitement to find the clues to solve the mystery this book was referring to. I didn't enjoy the romance so much, as I'm just not a fan of cheesy romances or written sex scenes. I loved the accuracy portrayed in the book, and I learned some new historical facts as well about Egypt and its "king" Hatsheput.
I enjoy this author, but this book was a little too involved for me. It was difficult to keep up with the historical accounts of this book. I was also disappointed in the ending. While one storyline was completed (albeit very quickly), another was started and left completely in the wind. I can only hope there will be a second book!
Great escape. This is the sixth Kates book that I've read. Loved her attention to detail and am looking forward to learning more about pyramids and ancient Egyptian culture to find out what was fact and what was fiction! Wished for a more satisfying ending.
Indiana meet Erica. this was a great adventure involving ancient Egyptian history, myth, and mystery. Some of my favorite things all wrapped up in one fun package!
