Vivere una vita felice non è complicato. Basta seguire delle regole ben precise. Non mollare mai, per un colpo di testa, un uomo che tutti pensano sia perfetto per te. Maggie vorrebbe tanto una vita in cui tutto funzioni, ma se continua a infrangere le regole sarà destinata a passare da una disavventura all’altra… Infatti, dopo aver perso il lavoro a Dublino, è costretta a rinunciare alle sue Jimmy Choo per calzare orribili stivali da lavoro, a rifugiarsi nella sonnolenta cittadina di Glacken e a fare ciò che non avrebbe mai immaginato, nemmeno nei suoi incubi peggiori: pulire stalle e prendersi cura degli animali. Ma Maggie è testarda, non si arrende ed è anzi pronta a tutto pur di conquistare la gioia e la serenità che merita. E forse, al di là di ogni regola, una vita perfetta e un amore da sogno sono lì ad aspettarla...

Avete presente quando vi dicono di non andare a fare la spesa quando si ha fame se no si compra di tutto e di più? Ecco io sono andata al supermercato affamata di libri, dopo aver cercato un libro e non averlo trovato e dopo aver letto un libro ed esserne rimasta delusa. Il risultato di tutto ciò? Ti amo , ti odio, mi manchi di Niamh Greene! Appena arrivata a casa mi sono pentita dell'acquisto dettato dal malumore e dal fatto che il libro costava poco (io l'ho pagato meno del prezzo di copertina, tipo sui 4 €), e così l'ho letteralmente lanciato nell'angolino più oscuro e nascosto della ma libreria. L'altro giorno, dopo la delusione Kinsella, volevo un riscatto, un libro di quel genere che però mi facesse veramente ridere, così ho ripreso in mano il libro acquistato tempo prima. Bhè devo dire che mi sono pentita di non averlo letto prima, perchè l'ho trovato divertente e simpatico, uno di quei romanzi che ti fa scappare la risatina nei momenti migliori (tipo quando sei in un vagone del treno e la gente ti guarda storto...che vergogna...).
Prima di parlare della storia vera e propria e del resto è doverosa una premessa. Secondo me hanno sbagliato sia il titolo sia la copertina. Il titolo non c'entra praticamente nulla! Quello originale è Rules for a perfect life (che pure non mi sembra il massimo!). Quindi Ti amo, ti odio, mi manchi non riprende ne il titolo originale ne qualche elemento della storia. Molto più idoneo è il sottotitolo Conosci le regole per un avita perfetta? (che almeno ricorda quello originale!). Anche la copertina non mi sembra molto adatta, ricorda più un sequel di Jane Austen, invece il libro è ambientato nei giorni nostri, in Irlanda, un po' in città un po' in campagna. Entrambe le scelte per me non hanno affatto favorito questo povero libro, che se si cerca una bella lettura assolutamente poco impegnativa, leggera, divertente, con un classico finale "E vissero tutti felici e contenti"...bhè, è perfetto!
La storia in se è molto semplice e vede protagonista Maggie che, dopo aver lasciato il fidanzato perfetto ma di cui non era innamorata, si ritrova anche senza lavoro e senza casa. Decide quindi di aiutare la sua cara amica Claire e di trasferirsi per qualche mese in campagna nel cottage che l'amica ha affittato, e qui...bhp ne succedono di cotte e di crude.
Come dicevo è una lettura leggera e poco impegnativa, ma veramente divertente! Ovviamente le parti più divertiti si svolgono in campagna, nel caratteristico paesino di Glacken, dove tutti conoscono tutti e sanno tutto di tutti. Qui troviamo dei personaggi caratteristici come i due pettegoli, Peg e Ted, marito e moglie proprietari dell'emporio locale, un po' strampalati, ma anche dolci e divertenti, e poi il bel vedovo tenebroso, o la veterinaria st@@@@za e arrivista. Quando poi entrano in scena gli animali, la situazione si fa estremamente comica: Maggie si ritrova a fronteggiare pony, mandrie di mucche e una pecorella alquanto curiosa.
In alcune parti mi ha un po' ricordato I love shopping con mia sorella di Sophie Kinsella, e non a caso è uno dei libri che preferisco!
Volete spegnere il cervello e farvi due risate? Ecco il libro per voi!

Много повърхностно беше разказана историята, дори характера на главната героиня не беше напълно изграден. Но имаше няколко много забавни случки и малко повече много забавни мисли.
Ако искате да прочетете нещо кратко, което да ви разсмее и утре да не го помните, това е вашата книга.

Mi aspettavo più situazioni comiche da una donna abituata alla città che si trova catapultata nella vita di campagna, invece Maggie mi ha fatto appena sorridere.
Una storia già letta e riletta, anche un po' lenta a decollare. Il castello di bugie che ha costruito viene smontato troppo velocemente.
Nel complesso, un libro insipido per fortuna veloce da leggere.

I finally found rules of a perfect life after what feels like eons of searching for and reading horrible chick lit. But this one was great. It reminded me a little of sophie kinsella's undomestic goddess, in that the characters seemed much the same. But it was more the supporting characters in this novel that drew me in, rather the hero and heroine. Edward and Maggie are definitely lovable, but my favorites were Polly and Ted. It had me laughing, I'm a sucker for happy endings. But what I didn't like was that the blurb was misleading, i was expecting both children to hate Maggie, and that there would be more talk of edward's wife, because it was mentioned she was saintly. And that i felt like there were less scenes involving the hero and heroine's chemistry and interaction, and more so her concept of village life and getting around it. But I liked that in a way too, because sometimes chick lit can be a bit too mushy. It was a great, effortless, read! Highly recommended!

It was okay, pretty regulation stuff. And as another reviewer said, it was difficult to believe the characters could even like each other, whem the main character was being so cringingly nasty during the Rose Cottage inspection, and many of the other characters were of the cookie cutter variety, but I guess, as an audio book it passed the time away in the car.

I really liked this book. It was enough to make me want to up sticks and move to the country right now! Yes it was obvious what was going to happen just from the blurb, but sometimes its nice to read something that doesn't require too much thought.

I liked this story. It wasn't laugh out loud funny but there were definite moments of bliss and excitement. I'd recommend it if you want an easy, breezy classic chick-lit novel.

To be honest I found the main character a bit annoying to begin with, she was so negative. However this was a fun, feel good book which was very uplifting. I listened to this as an audio book, which somehow adds to the feel of the book and brings the characters alive. A definite feel good book, full of fun and laughter.

Un giorno, comprando un settimanale, c'era allegato un breve estratto di questo libro, che dal titolo non prometteva altro che smielensaggini zuccherose. In ogni caso, essendo una 10ina di pagine lo lessi cmq e capii che il libro poteva essere divertente. Comprato, la prima impressione si è confermata. Gradevole e carino, incarna perfettamente l'autentico spirito chicklit di cui la Kinsella è la nostra maestra:) Ho solo due domande: - chi ha tradotto l'originale titolo in inglese (Regole per vivere bene, una cosa simile) in questo sile Moccia? - adesso vorrei capire. Mi dicono in molti che assomiglio a queste eroine scioccarelle dei chick list (Bridget o Becky, per dire..) io ne sono onorata, ma perchè queste si beccano sempre dei super fighi e io resto con un palmo di naso? Spero nel mio prossimo capitolo! :)

LOVED. Maggie has such a sassy personality and looks at life with wit and sarcasm, highly relate! Although nothing major as such happened in the storyline, the continual real life take on life as opposed to rose tinted, made this a really funny read. With some heartwarming moments thrown in, this love story developed without the love at first sight fake ness. Great author and loved the tov.

My review for this is really a 3.5 Stars.
Maggie has a taste for the nicer things in life, she has a nice man, a nice job and a love of nice handbags. On a whim, she decides nice isn’t good enough for her and ditches her fella. Soon after she finds herself out of a job due to the housing market crash and finds herself in need of a new home too. With few other options when her friend offers her the chance to move out to the country to house sit for her, Maggie accepts. She soon finds out country life is not all it’s cracked up to be!

Niamh Greene has a very easy to read writing style, and I would suggest Marion Keyes fans will adore her. My only concern is the story felt a little drawn out (however that may just be this novel or my own preference). The story followed the typical rom-com structure and I enjoyed it as an easy light-hearted read.

While Maggie as a character did get a fair few drama’s thrown at her to deal with, I actually found her character a little frustrating. She came across as a bit spoilt and selfish and it took me a while to get behind her and start willing her to get the guy (haha). Although some of her sarcasm was top notch. The guy, however, came across as lovely, single devoted father, hard-worker, and all-round family man. You really do want him to get his happily ever after.

The tale was very similar to those by Marion Keyes, I would say Greene is not quite as good as Sophie Kinsella or Helen Fielding but similar in a lot of ways.

A good, enjoyable holiday read, I would certainly read more from this author but I do think it could have been even better.

Una lettura molto leggera, ideale quando, nei periodi di troppo stress, le idee ti si confondono in testa..
Una lettura carina, ma nulla più.

Ho apprezzato molto il fatto che la protagonista non fosse, come molto spesso accade in questo tipo di romanzi, la solita maniaca dello shopping, ma solamente una ragazza di città che ama le comodità che essa può offrire.
Maggie è esattamente così, odia la campagnia e non può nemmeno immaginare una vita in mezzo al nulla, ma a causa della perdita del suo lavoro a Dublino, è costretta a fare un tentativo...

Purtroppo non amo molto le situazioni che scaturiscono da bugie e/o incomprensioni, probabilmente perché io preferisco sempre chiarire da subito le cose come stanno proprio per evitare che si creino malintesi...
e in questo romanzo di malintesi se ne creano davvero tanti!

Per quanti riguarda lo stile, l'ho trovato molto semplice e lineare anche se qualche refuso c'era, ma questo può sempre capitare.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a light read which didn't require too much thinking and the perfect book to sit down and unwind with.

The story is fairly simple - Maggie, a city girl suffers the effects of the recession and ends up moving to the country where she is faced with new tasks and people to contend with. She very quickly gets thrown into country life and has to adapt to the country way of living. Whilst in the country she meets an array of the villagers some of whom she takes to, others in which she does not.
I loved the people of the village - Peg and Ted being my favourites and Polly, she was fab,I also loved the happy ending.
Would definitely read Niamh's books again.

per colpa della protagonista: una snob con la puzza sotto al naso del cazzo, l'inizio è stato duro. davvero duro. Ho pensato non so quante volte di smettere di leggerlo..ma per fortuna non ho mai dato ascolto al mio io interiore. Molto, molto, molto carino.
Non posso scrivere altro perchè se no rischio di svelare tutto, ma ve lo consiglio. è leggera come lettura, e per passare il tempo, nei momenti di noia, è ottimo.
se iniziate a leggerlo cercate di resistere all'impulso di abbandonarlo, ne vale la pemna ;)
