Chad McCray has resisted a relationship for thirty-two years. Can the girl next door change his mind?
Catie Bay has worshiped much older Chad McCray since she was a child. When she fumbles a seduction attempt after her graduation from high school, she flees to Europe. Four years later, she returns a beautiful, worldly woman, and Chad takes notice. Is the rodeo queen still in love with the sexy cowboy, and is he capable of returning her feelings?
#1 New York Times, #1 USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Helen Hardt's passion for the written word began with the books her mother read to her at bedtime. She wrote her first story at age six and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to being an award winning author of contemporary and historical romance and erotica, she’s a mother, an attorney, a black belt in Taekwondo, a grammar geek, an appreciator of fine red wine, and a lover of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She writes from her home in Colorado, where she lives with her family.
I dont know if I liked this because it was good or because Ive just been reading some stinkers.. Probably a little bit of both. I really liked the storyline, heroine has loved the Hero for years and leaves and comes back.. Chad was a super man-ho at the beginning of the story and I wasnt sure if I could look past that but I could.. Especially after he met Catie. You could just tell he cared for her but didnt want to.. The sex scenes though were laughable.. Chad has an urge to talk during sex but it wasnt sexy to me it was just funny.. The ending was really rushed though.. It was like it just got started when he all of a sudden realized he loved Catie and then HEA.. So I would have liked it to be a little longer...
Oh this was a great book!! I love the older man younger woman combo! He has always seen her as a kid, and she has been in love with him since she was four. What could get better then the chemistry flying off these two?
Chad is the baby of the McCray brothers, and he has always been a love ‘em and leave ‘em kinda guy. He just doesn’t think he can commit to one woman the way his brothers have, but then he sees this gorgeous woman walk out of the bar bathroom. Then the shock of his life this hottie is none other then his neighbor he watched grow up, and Catie is 11 years younger then he is.
Catie has been in Europe for four years, and she hasn’t even been home for a visit once in all that time. She mad a pass at Chad at her 18th birthday party, and fled to Europe to get over him. Now she’s back and he can’t keep his hands off her, but he tells her that it is strictly sex between them. He isn’t the commitment type, but he certainly is fighting some serious jealousy that he can’t understand. When Catie finds out the McCray brothers are judging the rodeo queen beauty pageant, she talks her way into being a contestant, to the shock of everyone.
I am absolutely in love with these two! I don’t want to tell you much more then this, because I don’t want to ruin it for y’all! These two are smoking hot!!! Chad is one sexy man, and once he gets his hands on Catie he has a hard time keeping the off her. LAWD!! I hope y’all love this book and series as much as I have!
This is the third in the McCray Brothers Series and I really liked it. Chad has known Catie practically her whole life and he has a very hard time seeing her as anything other than the little freckle faced girl he used to know. When Catie comes back from overseas she realizes her schoolgirl crush on Chad hasn’t faded a bit. And now if anything it’s growing stronger. Chad is floored and realizes he wants Catie with a fierceness he’s never experienced before. He tried to burn her out of his system but it doesn’t seem to be working. Catie is so desperately in love with Chad she is willing to take anything he will give her.
I’m gonna go for a few things that I might consider spoilers but you can see them coming easily enough. Catie winds up pregnant after one of their eventful evenings. When she tells Chad he rushes her to the doctor for confirmation and then straight to the courthouse to so his child will carry his last name. Chad treats her so coldly afterward that Catie realizes she never wanted Chad like this. This is another book where there are several moments when I wanted to punch Chad in the balls, but as always he does work hard to redeem himself. I absolutely love to read series and I am always sad when they come to an end. There are enough secondary characters left that I really hope Ms. Hardt writes at least one more if not two or three! Plus I’d love to see all my favorite characters again!!
Rodeo Queen is the first of Helen Hardt's books that I have read but it will definitely be the first of many. Rodeo Queen starts out with fantastic characters and delivers a passionate and thoughtful story. Without giving too much away, this is a book that fantasies are made of--a sexy, strong hero, a smart, gorgeous heroine, and a supporting case full of interesting people. There are some unpredictable turns in the book which makes for a quick read (I couldn't wait to see what happened next) but then there are scenes so lovingly crafted and so supercharged that I read them more than once!
Really enjoyed this books, a fave romance for sure. Highly recommend and will be looking for more from this author!
Honest, I love the tropes of unrequited love and neighborhood crush, younger sibling with older sibling's friend. Rodeo Queen has all three, squee! Rodeo Queen/Taking Catie draws the reader in right away with the chemistry and desire raging between Catie and Chad. But Chad resists because he's not one to be tied down nor does he want to acknowledge he might have feelings for his neighbor almost 12 years his junior.
And this might have a feeling of ick, if it wasn't handled with the adept skill of Helen Hardt. That, and Catie is no longer a little girl, rather she is 21, wordly from living abroad the past four years, and perhaps more mature than our bachelor and player extraordinaire.
I haven't read too many westerns, But Hardt now has me adding them to my very long TBR list.
I'd say it was more of a 2.5 book for me. Chad is a man allergic to commitment and a guy not afraid to make his way through the female population. Catie is the girl, 11 years his junior, who has never gotten over her crush. Eventually she convinces Chad that she can settle for a no strings relationship, when in her heart she definitely wants more. But for a guy insistent that Catie is just a tumble, Chad sure is possessive. I guess I'm not a huge fan of the Alpha Male. And he was definitely one times 10. There were parts I liked, but when Chad was angry or jealous he became too alpha for me. Ultimately Chad admits his true feelings.
“I’ve found women find my foot in my mouth much more charming when they’ve had a drink.”
My Review:
Handsome, rich, funny, well-endowed, and smart cowboys. Feisty, educated, and horny cowgirls. Smokin’ hot love scenes. Explosive combinations? What’s not to love? Ms. Hardt’s stories are entertaining, steamy, and easy to read. I have enjoyed all of the 4 stories I have read, and look forward to the next set of Bakersville Sagas.
Sweet, hot loving! This book and Cowgirl Up and Ride are both older cowboy, loving loving younger woman. I found this book on another GR friends cowboy books...I think I will check out the other two books in this series! Enjoy
Yep, Catie tamed the bull buster. It wasn't a hard task and she did it without any knowledge. A smile here and there and a strut down the catwalk that landed her as rodeo queen. No one could resist that bikini.
